Nice place, some unpleasant surprises though!

We got together for a large family gathering and rented both cabin and guest house- cabin is beautiful and accomodates large groups. There is a private beach and swim dock that were the favorites of the kids- though there was lots of seaweed. The warning I would give is that these folks, although very nice, are not clear on their communicating. I would ask for a contract with the details from them BEFORE RENTING. The husband and wife told us different information regarding prices, expectations, etc. For example, we were charged for two days of boat use, though we only used it one day. One spouse says there is a minimum, though we were not told that when we were given the rental rates by the other spouse. Another miscommunication- upon arriving we were told we had to wash sheets and towels and put them back, vacuum,etc before checking out. UNFORTUNATELY, no one told us this before, even though I asked if there was a cleaning fee, and was told "it's included in the price".There is a hefty deposit fee- returned if house checks out OK after you leave. The grill is very old and doesn't work well (half of grill will not heat), the pontoon boat is nice to use (although old),especially to find good swimming holes in the lake. No A/C, house being constructed close to rental, limited towels, unclear communcations, neighbors that DO NOT like noise. As long as you know these things going in, and aren't taken by surprise like we were, it can be a great place with a great view from deck.
Recommended for:Girls getaway, adventure seekers, families with young children.
