The home is light and bright with walls of windows and a large sunny deck that takes advantage of the spectacular view.
The living room has comfy armchairs and couch in front of a wood-burning fireplace. As an open concept living area, it is joined to the brand new kitchen with stainless steel appliances. All the tools you need to cook delicious meals are here.
The master bedroom is a retreat itself. With its own private deck and a claw foot bathtub that overlooks the forest and ocean, it is truly its own escape.

- Linens Provided : Shallon is fully stocked with linens. Bedsheets, pillows and pillow cases.Plus bath and kitchen towels are provided. We also have soft, large beach towels!
- Garage : The garage can be used to store any outdoor equipment such as bikes, kayaks or boats.
- Off Street Parking : It is easy to drive to Shallon. Just pull into our driveway and there is room for up to 4 vehicles. Just a short easy walk up to the house.
- Parking for RV/Boat/Trailer : With a big driveway, there is room for an RV or trailer.
- Wood Fireplace : A feature of the living room. The fireplace was built in 1960 and has a mid-century modern charm to it. Floor to ceiling with seating area it adds character to the home. We stalk our hall firebin with wood cut from our property. Feel free to build a cozy, warm fire as often as you like!

- King Bed : A king bed in the master bedroom provides a private retreat. Lie in bed and take in the beautiful view. You will sleep soundly on this cozy, comfortable bed.
- Queen Bed (3) : 3 of our bedrooms have queen beds. Cuddle up with a duvet, soft pillows on one of our comfortable queen beds and listen to the quiet.

- Full Kitchen : Our kitchen has a stove, refrigerator, oven, dishwasher and a sink. I has most of the tools you will need to cook a fine meal such as a garlic press, cutting boards, knives etc. If there is anything specifically you require for food prep, let us know and we will make sure it's there when you arrive.

- Gas/Electric BBQ Grill : The barbecue uses propane to grill. We keep an extra full tank at the house in case you run out.
- Deck/Patio : Our large outdoor deck is perfect for eating meals outside and enjoying the view. A french door off the kitchen makes it easy to prepare food inside and serve outside.
- Balcony : There is a private balcony off the master bedroom. A quiet retreat away from the rest of your group.

- Ocean View : The view is beautiful and spans from the top of the mountains down to the ocean.

- WiFi (Wireless Internet) : Wireless Internet is available. It is a simple login from your laptop computer.
- Other Amenities
- Clawfoot bathtub with view, heated bathroom floors, library, board games and puzzles, badminton racquets, private on 1.5 acres, close to beach, very large wrap around deck with incredible view of water and mountains. In the summer (May - Sept.) there is a boat dock at the beach. Great place to relax, read a book and jump in the water! If you do arrive by boat, the dock can be used for pick up and drop off only. Your boat would require and anchor to moor out from the dock.

- Smoking Not Allowed : As Shallon sits on 1.5 acres of forest, it is an extreme fire hazard. Smokers must smoke outside and be sure to butt out cigarettes in fire safe containers - not to flick butts into the forest.

Stunning View, Beautiful Vacation Home on Bowen Island
Why the Owner Chose Bowen Island
My family has been vacationing on Bowen Island since the 1940's. My grandfather built Shallon in 1950. He believed in restoration and used the hardwood floor from the dancehall for the house. It has had many happy steps on it and still retains a unique, warm patina. In 2008, my husband and I extensively renovated Shallon creating a blend of new comforts combined with some of the original character. Many fond memories are with me from Shallon having visited my grandparents up there regularly. It is a special place and we hope you will book and enjoy it as much as we do. :)
The Unique Benefits at this House
We LOVE the quiet. Living in Vancouver the hussle and bussle of city life is all around us. At Shallon we sleep peacefully and happily wake up to the sound of birds. In the summer we hear motor boats go by, but these are soothing summer sounds that we cherish. Our daughters would say they like best spending summer days on the beach tanning, reading and swimming. They walk down to the beach in the morning and spend most of the day there. Our 4 year old son would tell you the best parts are the ferry ride, the rocks to throw in the ocean and watching the deer right below our deck. My husband and I like the change of pace, our retreat master bedroom, baths in the clawfoot tub with a glass of wine, reading books by the fire, hiking up Mt. Gardner, walks around the lake...we all love family pizza nights at Tuscany, the starfish shaped chocolate at CocoCoco West and walking around the labyrinth at Xenia.
Located on the right side of the road, Shallon has a beautiful view.
A great beach for reading, tanning, swimming, exploring and rock skipping!

We enjoy many of the outdoor activities on the West Coast such as hiking, running, kayaking, golfing and tennis. We have 3 daughters in their late teens/early twenties and a 4 year old son along with a dog and cat.

We so appreciate the comfort and coziness of our home! Nearly missed the driveway because of the fresh snow, but this just added to the charm of our experience. This has been a wonderful experience for us, being here offered us an opportunity to connect and be present. Feels so homey! Thanks PS A Great family experience
