Captain Grant's was built in 1754 and is on the National Register of Historic Places. Located in a Village named in 1687 and surrounded by fields and historic homes makes Captain Grant's a great place for a family vacation, wedding or short holiday. The home has elegant charm that is both 21 century and 18th century.
Five rooms have fireplaces as well as the keeping room on the first floor. A three story deck allows everyone to bask in the sunshine or read a good book while looking over our five acre lawn.
We are centrally located in the Mystic and More area of Connecticut. Most of the area attractions are within a 15 minute ride. Year Purchased: 1994
I grew up in North Dakota and moved to Connecticut in my 30s. I soon realized that I had come to a part of the country very different then where I grew up. I missed the down home hospitality and meeting new people. The vacation rental and B&B business (I also run a B&B) has given me the oportunity to meet many new friends.
Why the Owner Chose Mystic
This home is next door to where I lived for nine years raising my children. I always thought that the home was special, an 18th century gem. When the oportunity to purchase it became available I went for it and the rest is history.
The Unique Benefits of this House
It sits on six acres of land. In the back of the property lies a 17th century cemetery. Our village was incorporated in 1687. The home is on the National Register of Historic Places. It is the grandest home in town; once owned by a ships Captain. It is not just a cabin or place to gather but an exceptional home that will become a part of your gathering memories.
