Completely Rebuilt Home in Contemporary Coastal/Thailand-inspired Style in August 2012.
Want to be where you can walk or bike to everything? This La Jolla house is ideally situated in the wonderful seaside neighborhood of Bird Rock. It's the type of beach vacation rental where you can hear, taste, smell, and see the pacific ocean.
This custom-built home has 4 levels. On the first floor is our gourmet kitchen, open dining and living room, 2 bedrooms, and 2 bathrooms. You can cook and entertain at the bar with the new kitchen and dining layout. The sliding doors leading to the backyard and pool area disappear seamlessly into the wall and create the indoor/outdoor feel you want. LED lights and rope lighting allows you to set the right mood in each room in the house. The Samsung Smart-TV in the living room allows you to wirelessly stream any content you want from your iPhone, iPad or laptop - and of course just watch HBO/Showtime/NetFlix or the hundreds of other channels provided.
On the second floor we have a media room with an audiophile quality stereo system. The 60' TV, dimmable LEDs, and blackout shades lets you create the movie theater feel right in your house. We've also added a massage chair that can relieve sore muscles. Just outside the room is one of three decks in the house,
On the third floor, we have the a wet bar with a beverage refrigerator, a guest bathroom, the master bedroom and master bathroom, and an amazing and expansive deck with great views of the ocean. You can watch surfers out in the water riding some of the best waves in San Diego. If it gets a little cold you can turn on the outdoor infrared heater. The Master bedroom has blackout shades for a very restful night's sleep. The Bathroom has a steam shower, deep 2-person bathtub, and switchable glass that lets you see the ocean from either shower or tub.
On the fourth floor, we have an office with a wireless printer, disappearing sliding doors and an amazing view - you can watch surfers all day while enjoying your favorite cocktail. Or...get some work done if needed.
The house is fully furnished, includes all linens and a fully equipped kitchen. This house is ideal for single families or small group of mature and quiet guests. This house is not available for parties, gatherings, or events and is strictly prohibited.
You have access to two bikes, boogie boards, beach chairs, beach towels, library of books to borrow, and a beach umbrella. All you have to do is bring your suit and sun screen and you are ready to go!
Walk to Pacific Beach, Mission Beach, or downtown La Jolla Birdrock, or use our bikes to get their faster. You can walk to excellent restaurants, grocery store, café's, the list goes on and on...
Our La Jolla rental is located in a fantastic family friendly neighborhood where there is a beach entrance. Many of the local surfers prefer surfing the waves accessible in our neighborhood.
Kid Friendly Beaches - I can make a few recommendations as to which beaches are stroller and kid friendly. We are close to them all.

Greetings from a very relaxed VRBO Bear! I just had a wonderful vacation in the charming seaside town of La Jolla in San Diego, California. The best part of my vacation was this amazing house with a pool. The private pool and private Jacuzzi were the highlight of my stay. You will have a hard time finding a vacation home so jam packed with comfort, style and relaxation.
The host of this lovely vacation property has thought of all the comforts of home, plus many added luxuries for your enjoyment. Each evening, I had a beautiful ocean view from the balcony, where I relaxed on the comfortable patio furniture. The wonderful master suite on the top floor offered sights and sounds of the ocean from the windows facing the coast. The feather beds, memory foam mattress and feather pillows guaranteed a good night’s sleep. The gourmet kitchen with stainless steel appliances, gas stove and granite counter top complimented the stylish modern décor.
The owner provided all the beach accessories one would want for the ideal beach vacation- boogie boards, bikes, beach chairs and a beach umbrella. Access to the scenic Bird Rock coastline of La Jolla was super convenient- just a few blocks away. After a day of sightseeing and hanging out at the beach, it was nice to return home for a full body massage in a leather recliner chair while sitting in front of the big flat screen TV. As a plus, Wi-Fi was provided, which no Bear can live without these days!
There is so much that I could see and do here in San Diego! I have to admit that although I love to travel and see new places, this is one vacation home I would return to over and over again.

This house blew my family away! It has undergone a dramatic renovation recently and everything is modern and brand new. We loved eating dinner and watching the sun set over the ocean from the huge deck on the second floor. There is a high tech media room with a huge television, and a lovely, sun-filled office. The kitchen was the best rental house kitchen I’ve ever experienced. It was very well stocked with every appliance and tool you could imagine. We were able to walk to the beach and the little commercial strip of Bird Rock which had a Starbucks, CVS and a lot of cute boutiques and restaurants. I have to mention to pool too! The pool and Jacuzzi were fantastic - there’s even a little waterfall! Thanks for sharing this phenomenal property with us. I give it five stars!Did you find this review helpful? This rental had the perfect space for 3 couples to vacation together but still have their privacy with the 3 separate bedroom/ 4 bathroom set-up. The kitchen was filled with every appliance you would need, the house was stocked with lots of paper products, detergents, beach chairs, towels and anything else you would need. It was nice to have the option of the washer and dryer. The hot tub, pool and grill with all the chairs and tables made the outside another room to hang out together. The ability to walk to the beach, grocery store and restaurants was convenient. We only wish the california sunshine had come out more during our stay.Did you find this review helpful? This house was Perfect! The location was great... close to the beach and close to the quaint Bird Rock town. The layout was very spacious and comfortably fit 8 people. Period of Stay: Aug 22-Aug 30 2009 I Loved this house! It had ocean views (from 2nd floor), ocean smells and ocean sounds that were delightful. The kids loved having the pool too. The location was great and we walked into Birdrock for coffee or shopping and walked to the beach for boogie boarding and surfing. Au-Co and Tony, we loved your house. The house and pool were beautiful. The kids swam pretty much every day and we all enjoyed the jacuzzi. We enjoyed being able to walk to Starbucks and the bake shop in the morning and being close to the beach and the sites. Thank you for sharing your home with us. It was the perfect place for our San Diego vacation. The kids loved the pool and we adults enjoyed the hot tub. Things that stood out for us included the well stocked kitchen and library, beautiful views of the ocean from the balcony, and easy walks to shops and ocean. It was a pleasure meeting you Au-co. The house truly was a pleaseure to stay at. The hot tub was a great family meeting place at the end of a day. The balcony with the view, a book and glass of wine was so relaxing. The walks along the ocean in the morning was a slice of heaven.
