"Bison" View Lodge – Sounds strange - Phase II of this farm will consist of Bison. Buffalo in Georgia. Absolutely unbelievable! The cabin has full house Audio, 15' x 20' Theater with a 160" screen and a Jukebox. The lodge is 3,800 square feet of heated space. There are 20 foot vaulted ceilings in the great room and kitchen, 12 foot ceilings in the master bedroom, spare bedrooms and theater. There are separate exterior exits for two of the bedrooms.
This lodge is one of the most detailed, one of a kind lodge’s in the northeast Georgia mountain area. The north Georgia mountains feel as if you are in Aspen, Colorado. "Bison" View Lodge is nestled in the rugged back country, located near Helen, Georgia, where there are fine state parks and easy-to-reach waterfalls and hikes, including the Appalachian Trail.
"Bison" View Lodge sits on 7 acres overlooking 2 acres of pasture which has Mount Yonah as a back drop. You can see about 40 miles in front of the cabin. The lodge is located 2.7 miles up a forestry service road off Hwy 75. However, it sits on top of Tray Mountain and is surrounded by 55,000 acres of national forest. Very Secluded! There is very little traffic, but what traffic does pass, cannot see the cabin from the road. The cabin is only 3 miles from the Appalachian Trail.
The Tray Mountain area includes unique sites such as the incomparable Ramp Cove, with the finest stand of giant buckeyes in Georgia and a wildflower paradise. Exciting boulder fields are common here just under the Appalachian Trail and off the Kelly Ridge. The Kelly Ridge spur provides a superb hike similar to the great Duncan Ridge in the Blood Mountain area. The huge rock outcrop at the Mill Creek Roughs is worth exploring. Tray Mountain itself, with its superlative boulder field, is one of the major overlooks in the Georgia Blue Ridge. The southern part of this area is the 9,702-acre Tray Mountain Wilderness.
Swallow Creek – The northern portion of the Tray Mountain area is largely the watershed of Swallow Creek. While not designated wilderness, much of this area is wild and primitive. It has two outstanding high ridges-The Blue Ridge (from Dick’s Gap to Kelly Knob - 4,276 feet) and the Kelly Ridge. The walk along both is easy, and the scenery is rewarding.
"Bison" View Lodge is only 3.7 miles from downtown Helen. Helen is located in the Blue Ridge Mountains on the Chattahoochee River, and is a rare re-creation of an alpine village complete with cobblestone alleys and old-world towers. The Northeast Georgia village has a rich history linked to the Cherokee Indians and Indian burial mounds as well as early settlers, who arrived to mine for gold and cut virgin timber for a thriving lumber industry in the early 1900’s.
