The Mill Studio, at 17 Gustin Square, Colton is located in the lower level of a historic carding mill, on Lower Higley Flow.
It is divided into upper and lower areas and is appointed with authentic beams, stonework and beautiful river views. The kitchen area has a sink, refrigerator/freezer, microwave and dishes. The main sleeping area has a queen sleigh bed and antique light fixtures. The upper level has a full size bed as well as a lounge and living area. Comfortable furniture makes it easy to enjoy the view. The bathroom is one of the most unique and finest features of the property. Constructed around an original mill foundation, the shower unit is extremely large - it must be seen and experienced to be appreciated. The environment is one of peace and calm. An intimate getaway was the theme for its design. The Mill Studio is in a perfect location for hiking - Stone Valley is steps away and Lower Higley is accessible from the property - perfect for kayaking and canoing. It is centrally located for access to the Adirondacks, Raquette River and many other North Country destinations.

We are a hidden treasure nesteled in the small town of Colton where the geographical divinding line of the Adirondack Mountains and the St. Lawrence Valley create a natural hiking area with 3 1/2 miles of spectacular waterfalls on each side of the river and 4 different trailheads. People travel long distances and spend big money to see something a fraction of the size of Stone Valley. This is a must see and is totally free. The natural make up of the rocks, falls and water allow for countless places to hang for the day wheter it be picincing, swimming or resting with a good book.
Within walking distance our local tavern is located on the bridge overlooking the Raquette River offering cocktails, entertainment and the season of the area. A short drive down the areas historical dirt road will bring you to another great restaurant which specializes in smoked entrees and appetizers.

Our location is great for a day trip to Lake Placid, Saranac Lake, Cranberry Lake or anyone of the reserviors located on the Raquette River like 3 Falls, 5 Falls, Rainbow, Blake, Stark and Cary. Each rervior has its own natural attractions.
