Yes, you are renting from the owner through a local caretaker, and not a large real estate rental company. We have Weeks in Early October available for 2013.
Newly renovated and refurnished with top of the line fixtures & Pottery Barn furnishings and decor – Reasonably priced 4 bedroom-2 bathroom with killer rooftop deck OCEAN TO SOUND VIEWS in prestigious Whalehead Club. Just 2 easy blocks to the beach (just over 1100'), this just-renovated and refurnished cottage has a huge private heated pool, private hot tub, a huge enclosed outdoor shower with changing area, and a killer roof-top deck. Screaming with old time character, “Wish You Were Here” will make you want to return again and again. This home was also professionally decorated and landscaped. Everything has been lovingly redone using the very best of materials and continually updated.
The white bead board cabinets in the kitchen and white-washed wainscoting lends a cottage feel to the house. (But the granite countertops and stainless steel appliances will remind you that you're in the 21st century!) The bathrooms with large soaking tubs and checkered floors will remind you of simpler days. The 2nd floor great room with hardwood flooring is open and inviting - the kitchen opens to the dining area and spacious family room with 42' flat screen tv.
There are 2 queen bedrooms with vaulted ceilings and direct access to the 2nd floor deck, two twin bedrooms (with 2 beds in each) and a private loft area with daybed. The loft area also serves as a getaway with games, books, game table and tv. All sleeping areas have flat screen tv's.
2 Bikes, a beach umbrella, beach cart, wheeled cooler and 7 beach chairs are provided.
There's a huge outdoor shower and changing area.
Full laundry room on ground floor.
The Outdoor tiki bar and grill in pool area make a great hangout for days or evenings by the pool.
Linens and towels are included. Heating the pool is available for ONLY $150!.
Turnover day is Sunday, check-out is 11am check in is at 3pm.
Absoluteky NO PETS, no smoking, and one-third of occupants must be at least 25 year of age. 50% deposit is required to reserve, this is non-refundable for any reason, unless a replacement is found, in which case a $275 cancellation fee will apply. There is a $500 security deposit mandatory.

My family (5 adults and 1 child) stayed at Wish last week and couldn't have been happier with the accomodations. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything you could possibly need for the nightly meal preparations and the house was very clean - decorated just beautifully. The pool area was our favorite - very spatious - and plenty of toys already there...no need to bring your own! We also loved that it was an easy walk to the beach with the beach cart. We loved our stay and will look to stay here again next time we are in Corolla. Our first time visiting the Outer Banks. Everything was perfect. The weather cooperated and we enjoyed beach and pool every day! The house was exactly as described. Plenty of space, clean, fantastic condition and layout. The outdoor closet provided all we needed to play outside.....Beach chairs, beach cart, pool and beach toys...even a kite. Wish I was there right now!!!!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children.

Wish You Were Here was the ultimate in vacation housing. Everything we needed was available, the property was exceptionally clean, and the pool area was more than we could imagine. It was a great place for extended family to gather to celebrate. Wish You Were Here was one of our best vacations ever! The house was beautifully decorated, the kitchen was stocked with everything you could imagine, the pool was wonderful and the location was perfect. It was a short 5 minute walk to the beach and the house had everything you would need for a great vacation! We even found some a crabbing kit in the closet and the kids had a blast crabbing at the park and flying kites on the beach. The only issue we had with the home was the internet connection wouldn't allow more then 2 computers/ipads on the system at one time. The beds were very comfortable and room sizes were just enough. This was our first visit to Corolla and we told everyone we know how wonderful this house was for a smaller family. We had 4 adults and 2 kids and still had 2 rooms that no one used. I consider myself very picky when it comes to finding a nice hotel/house for my family and this one was perfect!Recommended for: Families with young children.

We recently stayed at Wish You Were Here and had an amazing vacation in the Outer Banks of NC! This home is absolutely beautiful inside! It is like walking into a Pottery Barn store, very homey, very updated, very comfortable. The house was clean & had all of the things we needed- pool chairs, deck chairs, pool toys, all the kitchenware you would need, wi-fi, everything! The house is a couple blocks to the beach so if you are going to go for the day, I suggest bringing the beach cart which will help you in lugging the chairs, umbrella, etc. to the beach. It is so nice to have a washer & dryer available at the property as well. We went on many long walks along the beach and just throughout the neighborhood. I would recommend going to the Carrituck Lighthouse & surrounding nature center area which was really beautiful. Also had a chance to parasail which was fun & gives you a beautiful view of the area! The photos of this house are very accurate. We really enjoyed hanging out on the deck and the upstairs loft area was a fun little getaway for the kids. The area is surrounded by huge homes which are all beautiful and well taken care of. I would definitely recommend this property to a friend and hope to be back one day!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, sightseeing, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children.

We normally don't vacation in the same area in consecutive years, but we enjoyed our stay last year so much that we decided to break our rule. The house was just as clean and well maintained as last year. The outdoor bar (with refrigerator!) and gas grill were great additions. The local property manager was extremely responsive and helpful when we had questions. One of our party used the loft as a bedroom. He is 6'5" and slept comfortably in the day bed.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children.

We just returned home from our vacation. We had a wonderful time and "Wish You Were Here" is absolutely gorgeous. The entire place is so clean and beautifully decorated. This house has everything you need for a relaxing fun filled family vacation, the pool area was fabulous. The house is beautifully decorated with the warmth of home and exceptionally clean. It was perfect for our family including three young children. The baby had the run of the main floor while the two older ones enjoyed the pool and loft areas. It was reassuring to always know where the kids were...no access to the decks and pool from their bedrooms!!! We would absolutely stay here again!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children.

We really enjoyed the week. The property is clean, well furnished, and well maintained. It is an easy walk to the beach and less than a five-minute drive to several quality restaurants, shopping areas, a lighthouse, and the beach areas with wild horses. We felt the pictures in the listing don't do the property justice, especially the pool area. Questions to the owners were answered promptly. We were a little confused by the Sunday to Sunday rental until we talked to some of the locals about Saturday traffic. It worked out well. We would recommend the property.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children.

My family and I stayed here in 2009. This house is gorgeous and spotless clean! We felt so comfortable in this home. It is beautifully decorated and is fully stocked with anything you can possibly need. About the owner: We first ventured to Corolla in 2005, and in the last 8 years, we head down as often as our schedule allows. We enjoy the northern end of Corolla, and the offseason stillness and beauty of the undisturbed wilderness.
Why the Owner Chose Whalehead Beach:
We purchased 'Wish' in 2008 because we knew it could be a great place for families to vacation in the OBX. 'Wish' had never been rented before and previously was used as a private family vacation home. With all the giant homes around, there seems to be a lack of homes more suited to smaller groups that didn't want to stay with 3 or 4 other families.
'Wish' had great bones and a warm feeling when you entered the door, a wonderful open floor plan, and lots of juniper on the walls - she just needed some TLC and updating to bring her to her full potential. What really hooked us was the note on the blackboard in the kitchen - it said 'We are truly going to miss this house'.
So we took it upon ourselves to create a place where others could have wonderful family vacation memories. We all have a place like that in our past - where you reminisce about your wonderful family vacations, and we truly hope we have given others a place to think about and smile from the memories.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
The rooftop deck at dusk is a must. The amazing sound views reflects the colors in the sky. The huge private pool and pool area is a great way to spend the day. Or it's just a short straight walk to the beach for a day of sun and sand. The single floor living is easy for families with small children, and the loft area makes a great getaway for games, tv, crafts or reading. The house is pet-free, smoke-free, and hardwood floors prevail making it comfortable for those with allergies.
