This is my second home and it is more like a home than a rental.
I chose this apartment for its location. It is steps from the Luxembourg Gardens entrance where there are pony rides, a childrens' playground, a puppet theater, tennis and basketball courts, a jogging track,"petanque" players, chess players and a carousel. It feels like home, not a rental, because it is my home when I'm in Paris. If you have young kids this location next to the Gardens is a must. They will discover the Gardens just as my young son did -- feeding the ducks and fish in the fountain with a fresh "baguette", sailing a boat, riding the carousel and spearing iron rings, swinging on the ropes in the playground, watching a world-renown puppet show or riding the ponies.
We are a block from Gertrude Stein's former apartment on 27 rue de Fleurus. Visualize Picasso, Matisse, Hemingway, Dali and other artists just around the corner having an aperitif before they stroll to the Montparnasse brasseries. You can't beat the location.
This two bedroom, two bath, two balcony, spacious luxury apartment is in Paris' most desirable quarter known for its peaceful central location. You will enjoy a quiet sleep at night in the cozy rear of the building. There is no noise coming from our narrow one-way street. Two coded security doors to the apartment and a full-time concierge insure safety. A brief walk takes you to the Luxembourg Gardens entrance, world-reknown gourmet restaurants (Coupole, Dome, Lutetia, Helene Darroze),Latin Quarter cafés, Montparnasse, St. Sulplice Church, the Odeon theater, the Raspail open air market, gourmet food and high fashion shopping at Bon Marche, the Alliance Francaise, Poilaine (best bakery in Paris), theaters, Saint-Sulplice church, the Musee D'Orsay, Eiffel Tower, Boulevard St. Germain, movies and other monuments. Our scenic street set the stage for a recent French 1920's period movie, "Les Faux Monnayeurs".
Our congenial local manager meets and greets visitors, helps orient you and can coordinate various services including baby sitting, cleaning and food delivery.
We are a few blocks from two police stations. The neighborhood is extremely safe because we are near the French Senate and security is ever present.
Everything you will need from green grocers, a pharmacy, bakeries and pastry shops, cafes, tabacs, hairdressers, a late night grocery store, bus and metro stops, movies are all within a few minutes walk.
Three metro stops, five bus lines and a taxi station are close to the apartment. The location affords easy access to the entire city and its monuments.
The "beaux-arts" building was built in 1900 with high ceilings and elaborate wall/ceiling moldings. The fifth floor apartment with an ELEVATOR is a spacious 1075 square feet and has two balconies.
Why do I say "luxury"? The decorator designed apartment is furnished with expensive antique furniture, oriental carpets, fine bone China, original oil paintings and Japanese woodblock prints. An artist painted a mural in the WC. In 2010-11 I completely REMODELED TWO BATHROOMS and installed a JAPANESE WASHING TOILET. And as a special feature we have imported soft toilet paper from the US. The drapes are custom-made heavy velvet. In the European tradition, one bedroom's wall covering is blue velvet.
The apartment is well-appointed with all modern conveniences. The kitchen is brand new and features the highest quality built-in appliances by Miele and Bosch and a NESPRESSO COFFEE MACHINE. We have top-of-the-line cooking utensils, pots, pans, 500 thread count sheets, bath sheets, silver candlesticks, 19th century gilded mirrors, an antique mantle clock, board games and lots of reading material for rainy days. Everything is BRAND NEW except the antiques. The apartment is wired with WiFi and a laptop connected to FIBER OPTIC CABLE, 2 large FLAT PANEL TV's, a BOSE sound system and FREE WORLDWIDE PHONE SERVICE (except Africa and South America), an IPHONE DOCK to the stereo and a cell phone. There are also two new AIR CONDITIONING units.
We also provide a GPS navigator to help you around the city and countryside should you travel. You do not need to bring guidebooks, hairdryers, converters, computers , an iron or umbrellas. We have them all here. ANOTHER VIDEO DESCRIPTION IS ON YOU TUBE--- VRBO 180703. Please also check Home Away listing #192761.
You will enjoy your stay. We want you to return.

Owner's Map of Paris Arrondissement 6
I first fell in love with Paris when I attended the American University in Paris. Now I am on the board of trustees of AUP and am fortunate to have my own apartment in the 6th. I have had two careers, first as a US diplomat, now as a private banker. I plan soon to work remotely from my apartment. Eventually I intend to retire in Paris and this will be my second home.

This property was just as described and more.I was greeted by a congenial neighbor/manager with 10 shots of Nespresso, a baguette and wine. Then the apartment was truly beautiful and every detail was taken care of-oriental carpets, original oil paintings, quality antiques,DVD's and CD's,big screen TV's, first-rate kitchen implements, hard beds with down pads, towel sheets, etc. The owner spares no expenses to make us happy. We loved Glenda, the English-speaking babysitter for 10 Euros an hour! The only shortcoming was a small bathroom, whiich the owner is remodeling in January/febryary.I would highly recommend staying to any friend and plan to return with my family again.

Our stay at Rue Huysman was impeccable in every way!! Peter was a perfect host from our first communication all the way through our stay in his beautiful haven in Paris. The home is beautifully appointed and in the most wonderful location. The quiet one way street is very quiet at night and an easy walk to the Luxembourg Gardens, Market at Raspail, Blvd St Germain, St Sulpice.......... Private, convenient, mix of modern ammenities witth a personal collection of wonderful antiques, comfortable beds, two and a half modern bathrooms with excellent water pressure and hot water, the kitchen has all that you need amd more including the washer and dryer and a nespresso machine. I can't say enough about Peter and the attention that he pays to not only his home in Paris but to his guests as well, he clearly goes above and beyond all expectations to make you feel as though this is Your home, even going so far to stay in a hotel when he was in town on business while we were in the apartment! During our stay, there were four of us, ages 75, 50, 40 and 21 and the apartment suited all of our varied needs flawlessly! I have a great deal of experience with VRBO properties in the USA as well as internationally and my criteria/standards are very high, based on my experience I can confidentally give this home, the owner and our stay a 5 star rating.....with hopes that I have not rated myself out of it being available again for future stays! Whike this past visit was with extended family, I look forward to sharing Rue Huysman with a lively group of girlfriends! Oh.........safe, secure entrance, with a working lift and the stair access is very doable for all ages, we even met some of the other very gracious tenants in the building during our stay.

This is a beautiful and elegant apartment with every possible amenity and gadget. It was excellent on all fronts: plenty of room for the six of us, perfect location near the Luxembourg Gardens and dozens of restaurants and cafes, a helpful guy to check us in and out, and enough towels to dry an army. I would recommend it to anyone.

This apartment was fantastic! The owner has thought of every detail to make the rental a most wonderful experience. The owner was available for any questions we had before or during our stay. The apartment is perfect for a couple and two singles. The living area is elegant, yet comfortable and everything was immaculate. The bathrooms are very nice and modern. Even better than the photos! The neighborhood in St Germaine du Pres is the most perfect in all of Paris. The apartment is just a few steps away from the Metro Station for easy access to all the sights in Paris. There are Cafes and Brasseries galore in the area. We ate breakfast in the apartment every morning. We really felt like Parisians for our stay in this perfect apartment in the best neighborhood in Paris.

Here is another review which a guest family left in the "livre d'or": Dear Peter We thank you for while we are in Paris and before we return home to California. The lovely chatter of children going to and from school each day, the view of the blue sky every afternoon, the breeze that cooled the apartment in the evenings, the restful quiet of the nights, the elevator, refrigerator, and washing machine, the patisserie, epicerie biologic-- all these splendors of the apartment and "les environs" made our stay at 8 rue Huysmans more than memorable. Oh! and we loved the buses ! While we saw and experienced so much of Paris in general, we will henceforth think of th is little "quartier" as our home. PS We never watched TV no time!

This is a quote for a family of five who came for 2 months and stayed for 12, from the "livre d'or " in the apartment. Quote I think it goes without saying that we would not have stayed if this wasn't such a great place. The location is the best, the neighbors are really tops. It is really the way to live in Paris as if you were really Parisian. Thank you Peter for everything. What an adventure.

The accommodations were excellent. The rooms spacious and attractively decorated. Everything was either within walking distance or near the metro or bus line; the local grocery and bakery were an easy walk. The apartment was clean and well maintained. We would highly recommend to our friends.

This apartment is fantastic! It is a beautiful apartment that comfortably fit our family of four. The owner went out of his way to make it feel like home- Including telling us where to replenish the coffee for the coffee pot. ( a tres chic store, well worth a visit). The location couldn't be better. It is on a very quiet residential street - 2 blocks from the Luxembourg gardens and surrounded by many boulangeries, fruit stands, creperies, etc.. It is also very close to several metro stops and an easy walk to Notre Dame. There is a wonderful market nearby 3 mornings a week- especially good on Sundays when everything is organic. We were all very sad to have to leave this wonderful place and would rent it again in a heartbeat!

What a great place. Peter was so accommodating, and we really never found ourselves needing anything. Two blocks to the fabulous Raspail organic marker, one block to the Metro, and Paris at our doorstep. I would recommend to anyone who wants a truly Parisian neighborhood experience!
