Location: Paris Arrondissement 6, Paris, Ile-de-France (Paris Area), France, Europe (city center) View Map

Accommodations:  Apartment, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths (Sleeps 4-6)

I chose this apartment for its location; steps from the Luxembourg Garden entrance where there are pony rides,a children's playground, puppet theater, tennis and basketball courts,a jogging track, "boules",chess players and a carrousel. It feels like home, not a hotel, because it is my home when I'm in Paris. It can be your home too when you stay in Paris. If you have young kids this location next to the Gardens is a must. They will have a blast just as my 6 year-old son did.

This two bedroom, one and a half bath, two balcony, spacious luxury apartment is in Paris' most desirable quarter known for its peaceful central location. You will sleep well at night in the cozy rear of the building, yet have an easy walk to the Luxembourg Gardens entrance (5 minutes) famous restaurants(Coupole, Dome, Lutetia, Helene Darroze are 10 minutes walk), a block from Gertrude Stein's former residence, Latin Quarter cafés, Montmatre, the Odeon theater, the active Raspail open air market, goumet and high fashion shopping at Bon Marche, the Alliance Francaise, Poilaine (best bakery in Paris), theaters, St. Suplice church, movies and monuments. The street set the stage for a recent French movie "Les Faux Monnayeurs" based on an Andre Gide novel. The fashion headquarters for Sonia Rykiel is half a block away. Our congenial apartment manager lives one block away and is easily accessible to help orient visitors and assist with any questions that may arise. Our English-speaking cleaning lady also doubles as a babysitter.

The building is on rue Huysmans, named for a 19th century author. We are a few blocks from two police stations. The neighborhood is extremely safe.

Three metro stops, five bus lines and a taxi station are close to the apartment. The location affords easy access to the entire city and its monuments.

The building is 1900 vintage with high ceilings and elaborate wall/ceiling moldings. The fifth floor apartment with ELEVATOR is spacious having 1075 sq ft and two balconies. The decorator designed apartment is furnished mostly in expensive antique furniture, original oil paintings and Japanese woodblock prints. We even have a mural in the WC.

It is also well-appointed with all the most modern conveniences. The kitchen is brand new and features the highest quality built-in appliances from Miele and Bosch. It is fully equipped with top line cooking utensils, pots, pans, 500 thread count sheets, bath sheets, silver candlesticks, original paintings, 19th century gilded mirror, chiming mantle clock, etc. Everything is BRAND NEW except the antiques. The apartment is wired - WiFi and laptop, 2 large flat panel TV's and FREE WORLDWIDE PHONE SERVICE (the globe except Africa and South America) and a cell phone. There are also two brand new AIR CONDITIONING units.

You will enjoy your stay. I want you to return.

Why the Owner Chose Paris Arrondissement 6

Paris is the most beautiful city in the world. My grandparents spent many months in at a hotel two blocks from this apartment and I visited them there. Now this is my second home.

The Unique Benefits at this Apartment

Access to Luxembourg Gardens, tennis courts, organic open air market, central location, restaurants, "bon marche" best shopping, alliance francaise, Gertrude Stein's former neighborhood.

Owner's Map of Paris Arrondissement 6

I first fell in love with Paris when I attended the American University in Paris. Now I am on the board of trustees of AUP and am fortunate to have my own apartment in the 6th. I have had two careers, first as a US diplomat, now as a private banker. I plan soon to work remotely from my apartment. Eventually I intend to retire in Paris and this will be my second home.

    • Four of us settled into this lovely apartment after enduring a variety of cramped accommodations for almost 3 weeks while traveling in France and Serbia. What a welcome relief! The rooms were spacious, well-furnished, light-filled and comfortable. The kitchen was well-equipped and had everything we needed, including a washer and dryer. The location could not have been better for us. We were within walking distance of so many of the sights we wanted to see and conveniently close to both Metro and buses for those that were further away. Our Paris experience could not have been better! Our thanks to Peter for letting us stay in this fantastic apartment and to Franck for his assistance in making our stay so stress-free. We will definitely be back.

    • I loved having an apartment rather than a hotel room when our family visited Paris. It allowed for relaxation time together and we enjoyed eating in for breakfast. The apartment is conveniently located within easy walking distance to several metro stops and Luxembourg Gardens. It was nicely decorated and haad everything that we needed for our time spent in Paris. I will go back to this apartment for my next visit.

    • This apartment is fabulous. It is very conveniently located to the entire city and has three metro stations and several restaurants and markets nearby. It has a lot of charm and the owner has worked very hard to think of all the five star hotel niceties.

    • We had the great pleasure to stay at this apartment in September. We have stayed in several apartments in Paris and this was the best by far. The apartment is beautifully appointed with all the creature comforts (including robes and slippers), a well stocked kitchen, comfortable beds, very nice furnishings and artwork. The building is quiet and conveniently located near a great farmers market, the Bon Marche and several good restaurants. The owner and his representative in Paris were exceedingly helpful, providing suggestions and doing everything they could to make our stay as pleasant as possible. The location is great, especially if you are traveling with young children as we were. The Luxembourg Gardens are a short block away and have all sorts of entertainment to keep young ones busy for hours. Two very close metro stops allow you to get wherever you desire in the city. We travel to Paris every few years and will hope to make this "our home away from home" on future trips.

    • We felt like we were living "at home" in this beautifully decorated apartment; it didn't have a rental feel. It had all of the amenities that one would need and it was nice for our family (2 adults and 3 kids between the ages of 10 and 16) to be able to spread out and relax at the end of a long day of touring Paris. It turned out to be a much better option than taking two hotel rooms - in terms of cost, comfort, and overall Paris experience. The location - 2 blocks from Luxembourg Gardens - cannot be beat, with great access to numerous Metro lines, as well. We have no hesitation recommending this apartment to visitors and look forward to returning again, soon. Both Peter (US) and Franck (Paris) are extremely responsive to any questions or issues that arise before or during the stay - and with lots of tips about what's doing in the neighborhood and City. I'd recommend this apartment without hesitation. Rob R.

    • We had a great time in this beautiful apartment! The only downside was that it was so comfortable that it was hard to get leave in the morning and tough to leave again for dinner in the evenings - so obviously we didn't cover as much ground as usual. But it was such a lovely experience; truly "living" in Paris. My morning runs through the Luxembourg gardens were some of the best moments of my summer. And the kitchen is amazing! Thank you so much. And thanks to Franck for all of his help.

    • I visited this apartment and can testify that it is a stylish, elegantly furnished, comfortable apartment in the best of Parisian styles. It combines a modern, uncluttered feel with antique furnishings of high quality. Add the quiet dignity of the neighborhood, the convenience to the Luxemburg gardens and public transportation (both metro and buses), and you have a place of very high quality in both convenience and beauty.

    • We've just returned from a visit to Paris in this beautiful apartment. It was as wonderful as the pictures show and the neighborhood couldn't have been lovelier! We had our 3 teenage children with us and everyone was happy and comfortable. It was very convenient to several metro stations, wonderful bakeries, markets and the best crepes we had in all of Paris were right there on the corner! Mr. de Castro and Frank were great to deal with and very prompt returning our deposit. We went on to London from Paris and weren't so lucky with our accommodations there. I highly recommend that anyone renting from a website like this choose based on positive guest comments. If there are no guest comments, there may be a reason why. We unfortunately learned this the hard way!! Needles to say, Paris was the highlight of our trip and we will treasure our experience there.

    • I had the pleasure of staying at the apartment in February 2009 for a week and could not wait to recommend the place to friends and family. In fact, I am returning to the apartment for another week in August. This location is not only great for family with children, as it is a few mins walk to the Luxenbourg Gardens, but its close proximity to the Latin Quarter and world class shopping at Bon Marche also make this an ideal location for adults/professionals. In addition to the great location, the apartment itself is well equipped with full amenities such as free international calls back to the States, free Wi-Fi (very important for those who need to be on top of things even when on vacation). The kitchen is also set up for a full gourmet cooking experience. This is especially easy to do thanks to the open air organic market around the corner. The apartment also is located literally within a block to major transportation hubs, from the Metro to the Bus and the long distance trains. The owner has been accomodating with personal phone calls prior to the trip to ensure needs are met during our stay, including tips on where to visit and how to get around the city. I highly recommend this apartment.
