The apartment was ideally placed in the Broadway area of Pest, about 20 mins walk to the Parliament building, and within walking distance of all main sites, or metro/tram if feeling less energetic. The apartment was comfortable, clean and tidy with all necessary facilities. Ross's directions were easy to follow, and Ilona was waiting to meet us, couldn't have been easier. Budapest was a great city for us (2 adults, 3 teenage children), plenty to see and do - sights, baths, park, restaurants, cafes, markets, etc. Highly recommended.

Christmas in Budapest

The owner was very easy to work with, we have use VRBO for trips to Scotland, Ireland, Iceland, Munich, Vienna, Greece and now Budapest and have never had any troubles. The owner's provided instructions are clear and helpful. The property is in an excellent location close to the Subway, Opera, the river, Szent Istvan Bazilika (St Stephen's Basilica), and just a few stops from bathhouses, Vorosmarty Ter, and really all of Budapest. The property is clean and well cared for, with many restaurants are just outside the door. There is also a grocer less than 200 meters walk to the street corner. Since this property is located on the Broadway of Budapest it can be quite busy and loud on Fridays, and Saturdays! The solution we found was to join in the fun and forget about getting to bed until long after midnight. All other evening during our week stay were normal big city "quiet". We had an excellent Christmas in Budapest enjoying the people, city, Christmas markets, and will definitely be going back.

Owner response:We really appreciate guest reviews and 5/5 speaks for itself. We would just like to clarify the reference to noise. Christmas is a very special time in Budapest. There are lots of Markets, stalls, and festivities. This adds an extra aural dimension to the area during that time. The rest of the year the area is lively but much quieter.

My children stayed at this apartment while my husband and I stayed at the Belgrad site. Both were lovely and so convenient to all of our activities. The small kitchen was wonderful and we were able to cook some meals together. There were 7 of us and we all agreed that the apartments made our stay so much more intimate and enjoyable than any hotel!! We all hope to return to this beautiful city that gave us so many family memories. Thank you Ross! You, your staff and the great support you gave us was greatly appreciated.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the wonderful city of Budapest. Ross was very pleasant to deal with as was his agent Ilona. The 2 bedroom apartment is large, comfortable and well equiped. Having a washing machine is a big bonus. It can be noisy at night but this is to be expected in any large city in the downtown area. Because the weather was superb, we had the windows open which amplifies the sound from the street. I would imagine it is quieter with the windows closed. The price is excellent. I would recommend this apartment to friends and family.

We stayed at Nagymezo 1 apartment early in May 2011. Everything was "as advertised". The location is great. Our party included 4 adults and one teenager. We found there to be plenty of room and plenty of towels. The lady that met us there and showed us around was very nice. There is a grocery store across the street, that will have everything you need. If your thinking of taking a Segway tour while your there, the office is only a couple of blocks away also. Thanks for everything Ross!

I stayed at Nagymezo I from 12-19 December, 2011 with my mother. This was our second trip to Budapest. We stayed at the Hilton at the castle approximately two years ago, also in December. Although the Hilton was nice, I feel Ross's apartment really contributed to a more rewarding trip! First, the location is excellent! It is very centrally located in an excellent part of town. Literally everything in Budapest is within walking distace. Even the castle on the other side of the river is only about a 40 minutes walk maximum. Most attractions in Budapest are far closer. The apartment is literally a few blocks from the Opera House, St Stephen's Basilica, etc. My mother and I took one taxi the whole week we were there (to Memento Park). There is also excellent shopping and many fantastic restaurants within a few blocks distance. The apartment itself is very nice, clean, and spacious. It has two bedrooms, a large living room, a large kitchen, dining room, etc. This really set our stay apart from our previous stay at the Hilton... Although we didn't visit Budapest to stay inside, it was very nice to have such a large welcoming place to come back to in the evening. It surely beats sitting on a hotel bed with little else to do but watch TV. To top it all off, you'll save a lot of money staying here compared to a luxury hotel. I compared rates to a few hotels, including the Hilton where we stayed before, and Ross's apartment cost less than half!

We (4 of us) stayed 4 nights and found this to be a great palce and a great location-plenty of palces to walk to-the Opera, the Castle, St Stephen's cathedral; and plenty of great restaurants and bars, supermarkets. Also close to metro, tram etc A place we would definiyely return to - HIGHLY recommended from Brisbane

This unit is located about a half block off Andrassy...just an excellent location that is within easy walking distance to restaurants, underground, food store, and lots of other things. The street itself is wide and attractive. Things were quiet and clean. Comfortable beds.

A Memorable Experience

We recently shared N I with friends and were very happy with our choice. The location was excellent, with the grocery, restaurants, and coffee house right there in the street. The soup place next to the grocery is not to be missed. Menza in Liszt Square is excellent. Don't miss a chance to attend an event at the Opera House around the corner. Get the metro pass. The station is around the corner and you can explore using the clean and safe public transport system. One subway station is a block from the promenade along the Danube. Trams take you up and down the river bank. The apartment is as attractive, comfortable, and well maintained as the photos show. The apartment manager went above and beyond to help us get settled and oriented to the neighborhood. She even stocked the fridge with things for breakfast which was much appreciated. I would highly recommend this property to anyone visiting Budapest.

i stayed in ross's 2 bedroom back in august and had a wonderful experience. not only was ross wonderful in getting us situated via email before hand but the apartment was the perfect location and very nice. i have rented many apartments throughout my travels but this was exceptional. there was a wonderful booklet outlining city highlights that ross had put together which was VERY helpful (with tips of all the workings of the different baths in the city). i really can't say enough good things. i will definitely be back to budapest and will most definitely be staying at one of ross's apartments again!

Nagymezo II, April 29-May 8, 2010

Our week was perfect. The apartment was comfortable, clean, secure and within walking distance to most of central Budapest. The metro is easy to use and with our passes, we made good use of the transit systems to explore even further. The convenience of the ATM, supermarket, bakery, produce stand, ice creamery and all of the coffee houses made it easy to hang around the neighborhood square. During a walking tour of the Jewish quarter, we discovered even more bistros, coffee houses and pubs within three blocks of the apartment! The proximity of the apartment to the opera house and the Franz Liszt music academy added another wonderful dimension to our stay. Thank you for providing the ability to really experience Budapest on many levels. The apartment on Nagymezo is a wonderful "home away from home" in an absolutely superb location. Ross did everything he could to make us feel welcome and provide us with information to make our entire stay perfect. Thank you, Ross!

We stayed in Ross's flat in August of 2009. The flat was exactly as it depicted on the website. It was well located - close to many sites and easy access to transportation. We did a lot of research before choosing a place to stay for one week in Budapest. Couldn't have made a better choice! It's the first time we rented an apartment and it was a great way to travel with a family (2 teenagers). The apartment is very clean, spacious and well furnished. Lots to do within walking distance and to the metro station. Hope to go back soon and would definitely stay at Nagymezo again.

I read all of the guest comments and they were not over stated. We loved the 2 bedroom apt., great location. We could walk at night to the Opera house. Ross is a very easy guy to deal with and his driver was wonderful. (We are use to 4 or 5 star hotels and apts.)

The best location in the city, walking distance to everything. The building and an apartment are amazing, you leave in 19 century atmosphere with 21 century comfort (Wi-Fi, microwave). The mirror in the leaving room is definitely stolen from some museum :}. We had a great time, thank you.

Location, Location, Location! We actually stayed at both apartments. The building is an old style courtyard building, with typical european elavator (very small). The first night I was in the one bedroom which was very nice. It was a great size (you could actually sleep 3-4 in there)and was decorated very nice with a cool wall mounted closet in the Bedroom. The two bedroom is is huge! Fantastic size bedrooms and the best livingroom of any apartment I have rented in Europe (I have rented in 7 other cities). Huge L shaped couch with TV, Ipod docking station (a real one, not a cheap little one), and front facing windows. The beds were very comfortable and were perfect for sleeping in after the Budapest Nighlife scene. Ok, so most important was the location. Located on the block of the apartment was; a night club, 2 theaters, great coffee shop, 24 hour store and a super market!!This was the best thing about the apartment. I was there in Febuary, which was cold, and I never had to walk more than 4 blocks for anything. Liznt Fernec (spelling?) was 1.5 blocks away and had all the best restaurants, check on Menza. The Octogon was 2 blocks away and was the "hub" of public transportation. Another plus was that the sighseeing bus pick up is only 1 block away. Its a beautiful 10 minute walk down Andrassey to the Danube River and other sights. Serioulsy, I can not recommend this apartment enough.

My cousin and I loved this apartment! This was our first trip to Budapest, and we did quite a lot of research before choosing a place to stay. The apartment itself is very spacious and filled with a lot of extras including an iPod dock, electrical transformer, good size TV, guide books, and a fully equipped kitchen. The location was perfect. It's located right next to the Opera but faces a side street so it was fairly quiet at night. There's a grocery store on the corner and several cafes nearby. We never used public transportation, but the metro stop was right around the corner. Every night we would walk all over trying to decide on a place to eat, and every night we seemed to end up at a restaurant back near the apartment (and they were all excellent!). This is a wonderful, spacious apartment in an ideal location--near excellent restaurants, cafes, transit, shopping, grocery. It's beautifully furnished, and thoughtfully appointed--they even stock the kitchen with the essentials (snacks, coffee, etc.). And the large beds are the best we've ever slept in in Europe. The apartment is in a classic landmark building (the Operetta), and has high ceilings and parquet floors, and modern kitchen and bath. We loved staying here--it was a pleasure to come home each night!

This was our 3rd trip to Budapest. We have always stayed in apartments when visiting the city and had used VRBO before to locate places to stay. I had seen the apartment on Nagymezo Utca on there and I contacted Ross about the terms and conditions. At every one of my questions, Ross replied immediately with really helpful assistance and advice and was a pleasure to deal with. He was always courteous and attentive and was able to alleviate any stress of booking a place to stay. Right up until we left for Budapest, he was still in touch passing on titbits of information about good bars and restaurants. On arrival at the apartment, we found Ilona the Manager to be very helpful and patient with our questions. The apartment was much bigger than we had expected (especially for the money) and was clean and bright in an courtyard style block on a busy street. Ideally situated for being able to walk nearly everywhere in the city where we wanted to go. It was surrounded by the great bars, restaurants and shops of Andrassy Ut but retained home comforts which made the stay even more pleasurable. Having a welcome basket of essential foods was something I had never had before from an apartment rental and really helped to alleviate the hunger pangs without the need to rush straight out to the shops. The apartment itself contained more than enough to keep all happy - an ipod dock, cable tv and WiFi, if we chose to use it. But being located so centrally it was the perfect base for us to explore a city we have come to know and love.

We recently travelled to Hungary on business. I searched online for an apartment or a vacation rental and came across this website. The pictures were nice, the prices were good, location was great.. I was thinking -hang on, there must be a catch- I had a few questions and they were all very quickly answered. Being able to contact the owner so easily before our trip put my mind at ease. Since there was no upfront payment required i realised we had nothing to lose. We loved the place! The street was gorgeous; little café right across the building, a grocery store on the corner, dozens on restaurants around the block... great. The apartment was perfect! We travel alot and very often when we walk into a place its not at all as it seems in the pictures. This was NOT the case at Nagymezo 1. It was exactly like in the pictures. Very spacious, high ceilings, big windows... and most importantly it was clean!! the housekeeper was there to greet us and to answer our questions. She was very kind. Everything was great; the beds were comfortable, appliances worked, tv, internet, etc... everything you need basically. I could've stayed longer. So if you are thinking of visiting Budapest, i strongly recommend Nagymezo. very nice place.

I am happy to contribute to the Guestbook for Nagymezo I! The apartment was bright, spacious, clean, and comfortable. There are wood floors, dark wood kitchen cabinets, and modern furnishings. I loved the living room--the huge couch was perfect for sitting and chatting with our friends. The iPod dock, tv, and dvd player were all pluses! The bedrooms had lots of space for clothing and suitcases, and the layout of the apartment allows for several people to feel comfortable and have their own space. The bathroom was spotless and it was wonderful to have a washing machine in the unit. We loved eating breakfast in the kitchen nook with the windows open--the fresh air and sun started our days perfectly. The best thing about the apartment was the location! A grocery store, several cafes, a bookstore, shops, etc are within a block. More restaurants, stores, the metro, and the operahouse are within a few blocks. You will love your stay at Nagymezo I...and you won't want to leave!

My husband, two daughters, and I spent two weeks in Nagymezo I during our recent trip to Budapest. It was a fantastic trip and the accommodations were outstanding. The apartment was very comfortable and the kitchen was well-equipped. The location was perfect for visiting all the sights -- from the opera, to museums, St. Stephens Cathedral, shopping, and nearby restaurants -- we walked to almost everything!
