Why the Owner Chose McHenry
We chose Deep Creek becouse it is truely a four season resort area. Garrett county is a farm county with lots of state parks, rivers and wild life. White water rafting is abundant as is lazy boating, snowmobiling, cross country sking, hikeing and the like. Their are also a lot of attractions within a resonable drive, like Wisp, Cannon Vally & Ohio Pile.
The Unique Benefits at this Chalet
In addition to the tons of water sports, I love to sit on the dock at night & watch the fish jump, some times you will see a beaver swim by, If you make a little noise they slap their tail. Deer come to the waters edge at twilight to drink. We love to go Antiquing and brouse the flea markets. We end the day with burgers and a couple dozen ears of fresh local sweet corn. Sitting in the hot tub after a long day on the water or the slopes is the best.

I came to deep creek as a kid, and loved it. When I had a family of my own, my wife and I decided we wanted to own a pice of the rock, so we bought a couple acers and a cabin in Accident, four years later we bought a lot on the lake and 18 years later we built our Chalet. We live near the Chesapeak and drive to Deep Creek as often as possable.

The house was great for our large family group - 6 adults and 4 children. Everything was very clean, cozy and well appointed. The bedrooms and bathrooms were spacious and furnished nicely. We cooked all our meals and found the kitchen to have everything we needed and the table arrangement was very convenient. There were TVs all over the house, though we did not watch much TV. The pool table, air hockey, fuss ball and hot tub were nice additions. We rented a pontoon boat and moored it at the accompanying dock. You can also fish and swim from the dock. It's a walk to cross the road and go down the hill to the dock, but we felt this made it safer for the children than to have the water close by. There is not a good view of the lake from the cottage because of all the trees, so if you rented it in the early spring or later in the fall, the view would be very nice. We liked the location on the lake near the state park. We rented a week-long park pass at the Long & Foster office and went to the park several times. The beach is very nice for small children and there is a lifeguard during the summer. We also rode our bikes there, and the area is bike friendly. On the weekend the lake was quite busy and noisy starting about 7:30 in the morning with jet skis and water skiing. We were not interested in these activities and so we enjoyed the lake much more during the week when it was much quieter. We certainly would be happy to rent this property again.
