This cabin was perfect for our group. It was very spacious. Our weekend was so relaxing....we cooked steaks on the grill one night, took a long hike along the river, built a fire, enjoyed some relaxation in the hottub, played pool in the game room, visited several wineries and visited the beautiful town of Dahlonega! The property is in excellent condition. The owner does recommend a 4WD vehicle for the driveway. This is good advice. We had no problems with our Yukon 4WD. I definitely would recommend this cabin to anyone looking to escape to a beautiful and peaceful place to relax with family and/or friends.

The cabin was beautiful!! The views were breath taking!! The perfect place to get away from it all!! We had a great time and the driveway added quite the thrill, but absolutely NOTHING my 4WD couldn't handle! I actually went up the driveway once in regular drive (by accident) but made it to the top just fine. However, the 4WD is definately recommended!! The river was beautiful, the leaves were perfect and we even saw a bear....and were very thankfull he was way down the river! :) If you rent this cabin, you will not regret it!! The owner is very helpful and accomodating!! I totally recommend this cabin and plan on renting it again in the future!! Thank you, John, for sharing this amazing place with the rest of the world!! <3 A toasty hot tub, 5 of your best friends, a few adult beverages, a few amazing meals cooked on the grill, getting away from it the everyday hectic rush and simply reconnecting with nature.....what else could you possibly want?? Trust me....rent the cabin already!! :)

I was a little apprehensive after reading about the driveway requiring a 4WD vehicle and spring fed water but this cabin was worth the trouble. Driveway does require a 4WD but it is not dangerous or unsafe. A great place at top of driveway for additional parking as well if more than one couple stays. Cabin is clean, quite and relaxing. I cant say enough about the location and feel of total privacy next to a beautiful river. Owner is helpful and accomodating. I highly recommended staying here.

This place was very nice. The hill going up and down a little tricky, but we had a friends 4wd and it was ok. If you take a 4wd you are perfect. We left our cars parked at the top of the hill. The view was beautiful. The hot tub was great. It was my husband and I anniversary of 31 years. We went with two other couples and had a blast. The guys fished, panned for gold, and we just relaxed. It was a trip worth while and a wonderful cabin with everything you could ask for. The cabin was very neat and clean. We went uptown to Dahlonaga and traveled to Helen nearby. The cabin is nice enough-- nothing extraordinary. The views are great and it was nice being on the river. HOWEVER, to access the cabin you have to come down a severely steep, long driveway that is partially paved and partially covered in pebbles and rocks. The rocks make it especially slippery and dangerous -- for added misery, I suppose. A horizontal line has a slope of 0 degrees - this driveway was just barely short of a vertical line - about a 75 degree angle. If you don't own a 4 wheel drive vehicle you must park your car at the top of the hill and walk down the "Driveway of Death" with all of your bags, groceries, wine, etc. It's about a 8 minute walk. Of SHEER TERROR. Walking UP the driveway is also brutal. You're not scared - but you're in pain. A member of our group is a Boot Camp instructor and even SHE was hurting while climbing that hill. Obviously you want to limit your trips up and down the "DoD". Let me put it this way - our car got stuck in soft dirt at the top of the driveway and we waited on AAA for 4 hours. We opted to sit at the top of the hill doing nothing RATHER THAN WALK BACK DOWN THAT DRIVEWAY to hang out in the cabin! Oh..and you must supply your own drinking water. That's a lot of fun to carry a case of water down that hill. If you own a 4x4 truck you can drive down the driveway at your own risk - but even that looks terrifying. Best of luck to ya! My advice - there are plenty of cabins for rent - find another one.
Owner response:Believe it or not, I consider this a good review… not 100% accurate, but a good review. For future renters of Heavens Window this review gives and accurate emphasis on the importance of needing an All-Wheel-Drive or 4X4 vehicle to drive up the driveway. I can assure you however that the driveway is not cut at a 75-degree angle, or I would suggest that only renters with tanks or helicopters or X-Games participants go up and down the driveway. The actual grade at its steepest point, although it may appear to be more, is actually about 43%. Many renters, with AWD or 4X4 vehicles, have made the trip up and down the driveway over the years without complaint. Many renters without AWD or 4X4 vehicles have parked at the top and walked down and successfully walked up the driveway without experiencing “SHEER TERROR”. I myself, as a 56 year old man, walk up and down the driveway at least 6 times a month and I’m no Barbie Boot Camp Instructor. Heaven’s Window is located in Dahlonega, Georgia, the gateway to the Appalachian Mountains. Mountains have hills; hills go up and down, some steep and some not so steep. It’s a beautiful cabin with beautiful outdoor views, located on what many outdoorsman and river enthusiasts consider to be a pristine section of the Chestatee River. Completely isolated in a valley between to mountains, you will not hear cars or neighbors only the sounds of the outdoors and the soothing sound of the river, but if you want a pizza or to do some shopping its only 15 minutes away. I find it unfortunate that someone didn’t enjoy their stay at Heaven’s Window and always accept feedback, good and bad, so that I can continue to improve and provide an enjoyable place to stay for others in the future.
