Robion house description
The House is situated in the countryside on the western edge of the Luberon Mountains, but only about a kilometre from the village centre of Robion. There you will find a bakeries, pharmacies, a butchery, cafes and restaurants. The area has attractions for everyone all set amidst breathtaking scenery. The Luberon Nature Park, with its abundant wildlife, has many walks through gorges, or on mountain and woodland tracks, which can all be explored on foot, on horseback or by mountain bike.
Peacefully set, yet centrally located to visit all of Provence but still within easy reach of the autoroute (6 kilometers) and Cavaillon where you will find large shopping centres and many other stores. In Cavaillon, as well as in the surrounding villages of Les Taillades, Cheval Blanc, Maubec, ... there are numerous restaurants to suite all tastes.
Provence is famous, not only for the renowned wine producing areas of Château-Neuf-du-Pape or Gigondas, which are only 45 minutes drive from Robion, but also for its many medieval fortified villages perched on rocky outcrops with their narrow streets, cooling fountains and colourful cafes. Nearby is the geological wonder of Fontaine de Vaucluse and its underground river system whose source feeds the river Sorgue. Downstream is L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, an internationally famous antiques centre. Within easy reach by car is the walled papal city of Avignon and the extensive Roman remains of Arles, Nimes, Pont du Gard, St Remy and Vaison la Romaine. The local village markets offer an abundance of fresh produce and the local vineyards will satisfy the needs of those who like to cook and sample the local wine.
The house was originally an old 'cabanon', but over the years, has been tastefully renovated to provide more spacious and modern facilities. It has a very large enclosed garden with flowering shrubs and trees, which provide much shade in the summer months, so as to fully appreciate the swimming pool (9 x 5 meters) and the glorious views of the Luberon to the south and the Monts de Vaucluse to the north.
The accommodation includes two independant apartments with their own seperate entrances, double bedrooms, kitchenettes and shower rooms. The main, ground floor area of the house has a modern well equipped kitchen/dining room, a large lounge room with fireplace and TV and the superbly equipped summer kitchen opens out onto the gravelled, vine covered terrace in front of the swimming pool, barbecue area and pool house.
An iron staircase leads to the upper level of the house and one more double (140cm) bedroom with a balcony as well as a shower and toilet. The two remaining double rooms have twin 90cm beds and there is another shower and toilet in the hallway.
Rates include garden and pool maintenance, gas, electricity, and household linen and bath towels, telephone usage is an additional charge. The property is very clean and well maintained and tastefully decorated in the colourful provincial style. The house is cleaned and the bed linen changed each Saturday. There are sundeck chairs, pool furniture, tables and chairs for outside dining as well as three mountain bikes for your use. There is also a jacuzzi for six people and a billiard table in the outside pool house.
