The home is located only six blocks from the downtown square of historical Carlisle. Enjoy walks in the downtown area admiring the old architecture of days gone by. Carlisle is known for its heritage dating back to 1750. Both George Washington and Benjamin Franklin visited the area. Part of Carlisle's heritage includes the Indian School that Jim Thorpe attended. Carlisle is home to Dickenson College, Dickenson School of Law and the Army War College. Carlisle is also the site of multiple car shows during the summer months. The car shows are located approximately 20 blocks from the property with sidewalks available for that entire walk.

Carlisle is conveniently located in close proximity to many sites and activities. Gettysburg is about a 30 minute drive through very scenic countryside. Hershey Park is about a 30 minute drive. Baltimore, Maryland (80 miles); Washington DC and Annapolis, Maryland are within 120 miles of Carlisle making each of these destinations great for day trips. New York City is approximately 160 miles away making it a potential day trip as well. It is possible to drive to NYC and take in a afternoon matinée of a Broadway play and return all in the same day.

  • We met friends at the Glass Gable for 3 days and it was a lovely home. The home is beautifully restored and clean and welcoming. The owners were great to work with and really care about their guests. A great value for your money.

  • We visited the south central part of Pa for a week in early June 09. We had a party of 8 and had more than enough room. This was a great place to stay! It had all the comforts of home! It is beautiful. We have 3 children and they were never bored. Shopping was very close by and we were never more than an hour from our destinations! A great highlight of the propery was the patio... This home is more beautiful in person. We highly recommend staying here!

  • We stayed at the Glass Gable Inn this July. I must say what a wonderful place this is to stay. The house has everything needed for a wonderful vacation. It has a beautiful homey kitchen for all your cooking/eating needs. Every room is beautiful and the beds are very comfortable. The house and garden are just beautiful. Such a pleasure to sit on the front porch at night and relax. Conv located to everything. I plan on returning next July for a week. The owners of this great old house are wonderful and offer assitance with anything needed. Just a delightful place to spend time.
