We rented this property for a long weekend for our daughter's graduation from Dickinson as we wanted to host a BBQ after graduation and we also had overseas guests so this was far more personable than a hotel. Walt and Diana couldn't have been more helpful both with information in advance of our visit and being on hand for anything we needed over the weekend. The garden is beautiful and was the perfect setting for a very successful weekend. Thank you.

This lovingly restored home is a great place for a gathering of friends and family. The owners have shared their love for history and period collections and you can appreciate the history and all they have done to make sure guests are comfortable. The outdoor living space in the back yard is a wonderful place to enjoy and provides additional space to relax and unwind. The home is very clean, comfortable and in a great location. It is easy to find and very accessible to downtown and historic Carlisle, PA. The home details were just as presented and we were very comfortable there for a few days with friends.

I have stayed at Glass Gables twice, if you're looking for somewhere in the Carlisle / Mechanicsburg / Camp Hill area, stop searching and stay here. It is a gorgeous home and has the perfect blend of original features and modern conveniences. The first time I stayed I was concerned about the sleeping space as it was hard to tell from the pictures - no worries, there is room for 9 comfortably (and privately). The house is well taken care of, the location is extremely convenient (minute from Rt 81) and Diana is a very conscientious host - you would be crazy to stay anywhere else!
Owner response:It was my pleasure to have guests return. Thank you for your kind comments and I look forward to your visiting again.

The pictures on VRBO just don't do this home justice. More pictures would certainly drive customers to rent this home. Listed as 4 bedrooms, but actually 5. One bedroom on the third floor doesn't have a door, so it can't be listed as a bedroom. We just hung a sheet and my son loved sleeping there. Beautifully decorated for the holidays. Huge dining room with table big enough to sit at least 12. Large kitchen that has been updated, but still feels like it belongs in this restored Victorian home. Bedrooms are not small. The master actually has a seating area with couch and chairs. Lots of large windows throughout the house. We brought all the food we needed, and never ate out. Easy to cook in the kitchen. Beds were very comfortable. No complaints from anyone as far as sleeping was concerned. There is only 1 full bath, but we were able to work around that and only ran out of hot water once while everyone was bathing. Overall, a great property and highly recommended. Another plus...the owners were very helpful and kind!

My husband and two sons (ages 22 and 25) arrived on Christmas Day to find this beautifully restored Victorian decorated for the holidays. We stayed for three nights while visiting and entertaining family. It was the perfect house for us, warm and welcoming. The pictures do not portray accurately the feeling of standing in rooms with 10 foot ceilings, pocket doors, fireplaces, hardwood floors, and much more. The house is very conveniently located to restaurants, the owners helpful, the house was clean. I would recommend this house highly for anyone and plan to use it again.
Owner response:Holidays are a very special family time. It was a pleasure meeting you and your family. Thank you for the recommendation and I look forward to seeing you again. Happy Holidays! Diana Brown Glass Gable

This handsome Victorian house was the perfect place for a Thanksgiving get-together for my family. The house easily held the 6 of us, and could have accommodated more. Very spacious dining room, comfortable sitting room. Everyone was delighted with their bedrooms. A pleasant walk to and from downtown Carlisle. And easily accessible from the Pennsylvania Turnpike and I-81. Nice!

This was the perfect spot for my son's college graduation. With so many family members coming together, it was a great alternative to several hotel rooms and A LOT cheaper! The house is exactly as described but I'd say the photos don't do it justice. The house is simply beautiful, well cared for, and extremely clean! It’s certainly big enough for large family gatherings. We spent most of our time on the back patio sitting on a great stone patio set or out front on the huge front porch. Diana is a lovely hostess who answered any question we had. We didn't have one problem while we were there. I highly recommend this home!
Owner response:It is so nice to have families come and enjoy their stay. I especially like it when everyone can appreciate the character of the house. I do take a lot of pride in keeping the home in good condition just as I would like to find on my own vacation. Thank you for your kind review. Diana Brown Glass Gable

We stayed at Glass Gable over Christmas with our daughter and her family from overseas and our other daughter and had 5 wonderful days in comfort and peace. The home was roomy enough for us 6 adults and 3 children as well as a Christmas Day gathering adding another daughter and family and two more children. We couldn't ask for a better environment to enjoy ourselves. It is clean and most items were provided and it is also handy to shopping and other necessities during our stay. It is a lovely home and the entire process was very well done and user friendly. We highly recommend this home away from home to anyone looking for a place to gather. Before you consider a motel, check this out. If you are sharing with another family member this is more cost effective, especially with a kitchen to be able to cook. We had a great time and thank you Diana!

What a wonderful place for our family reunion. Our every need seemed to be anticipated: fully equipped kitchen, comfy beds, delightful backyard patio and grill. The photos do not reveal the elegance of this home. We will be looking for excuses to return. What a great site this would be for a retreat or small business conference. Hmmmm.

8/3/2010 Glass Gable was so much more than the photos portrayed. The moment we wallked in it felt like home. You could tell that every detail was done by thoughtful, caring owners. The layout was perfect for our combination family wedding held in Harrisburg and our weekend long family reunion home base in Carlisle. We traveled to Carlisle from Maryland, North and South Carolina and Wisconsin. Everyone had their own space and yet we enjoyed hanging out in the kitchen and the real bonus was the patio area. At the end of the day we would gather outside around the table to savor the pleasant evening and lively conversations. Diana equipped the home with ample linens, paper products and every kind of kitchen gadget you could possibly need - even banquet type tables in the pantry to use on the patio the day of our family BBQ . Glass Gable is a great place to walk from into the historical neighborhoods, we had fun discovering interesting dining choices and seeing the array of architecture. Make a point of having breakfast at Fay's Kitchen, the pumpkin pancakes were fabulous. It was easy to get to the grocery and the wine and spirits stores. Walkers and runners in our family were comfortable in the neighborhood. We had the best time reconnecting in the best setting that met all of our expectations and then some. We will definitely recommend Glass Gable to our friends and family. Darlene and Dan Kelly Hartland, Wisconsin

Glass Gables was a fabulous place to stay during my family's recent trip to Eastern Pennsylvania. A total of 7 of us stayed there comfortably. The home is stunning and a pleasure to stay in. It is up to date with things like central air conditioning, a gas cooktop range, wall oven, microwave and gas grill. We were able to cook several meals there, helping us save money by not eating out for every meal. The owners, Diana and Walt, were more than helpful in their willingness to discuss the history of the home, pointing out places of interest in Carlisle, and providing directions to the surrounding areas. It is in close proximity to several eateries, and a movie theatre and Wal-Mart are within walking distance. Several lovely farmers markets and flea markets are a short drive away, and it is only a 30-35 minute drive down to historic Gettysburg, where we spent most of our time. We highly recommend staying here for your next visit to Eastern Pennsylvania. Our experience was so positive, we plan to stay here again for our next trip to the area.

My old college roomates and I with their families really enjoyed our stay here! It was a very clean, beautiful and warm home to stay in while we enjoyed catching up. We get together every year and feel like we finally found a place that perfectly fits our group. We would love to rent it again! I will definitely be recommending it to any friends or family looking for an affordable stay for a group/family out in that area! Thanks so much Diana for letting us stay there!

This house was perfect for my family. We all came to Carlisle for a family reunion at a relatives house. The house was nice, clean and a wonderful set up. The location is great for day trips to Gettysburg, Lancaster, and Hershey. I would recommend this house to anyone coming into the area. The cost was reasonable.

We visited the south central part of Pa for a week in early June 09. We had a party of 8 and had more than enough room. This was a great place to stay! It had all the comforts of home! It is beautiful. We have 3 children and they were never bored. Shopping was very close by and we were never more than an hour from our destinations! A great highlight of the propery was the patio... This home is more beautiful in person. We highly recommend staying here!

We had an amazing time. Diane was so very helpful & friendly. She even e-mailed us info about events that we were interested in during our July 4th visit. The house was even more beautiful in person than the pictures are online. It was so clean. Thanks for opening your home to our families & making us welcome. Our trip to Hershey & Gettysburg will always be remembered because of Glass Gable. We only wish our stay was longer!! We hope to return soon!!

We stayed at the Glass Gable Inn this July. I must say what a wonderful place this is to stay. The house has everything needed for a wonderful vacation. It has a beautiful homey kitchen for all your cooking/eating needs. Every room is beautiful and the beds are very comfortable. The house and garden are just beautiful. Such a pleasure to sit on the front porch at night and relax. Conv located to everything. I plan on returning next July for a week. The owners of this great old house are wonderful and offer assitance with anything needed. Just a delightful place to spend time.
