One of the finest log homes in Northern Wisconsin, with all the amenities. Located on private Carpenter Lake (365 acres) just 5 miles from Eagle River off of Highway 70 east. We are just 2 miles from the Nicolet National Forest. Because Carpenter is a peaceful lake, we have a nesting pair of loons that return every year to raise their young on a little island called "loon island". Eagles fly by and sometimes perch in the pines. Game fish are bluegills, crappies, northerns, walleye, small and large mouth bass. A few muskies have been caught but not many. The lake is very clear and without algae. There isn't any public boat launch but the Chain of Lakes (28 lakes connected) is just a few miles down the road.
This new home was built in July 2008 with the extras and comfort in mind. The furnishings for the home are "Northwoods" oriented. All the beds are log beds. You'll find Northwoods themed lighting, bear lamps, moose pillows and sconces with pine trees. The gas fireplace with river rock has a half log mantel. The front of the log home is all glass reaching 31 feet high. Walk through the sliding glass doors onto the huge deck to a view that overlooks the lake and the tall pines. The house has 2 zone air conditioning and heating, granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, wood floors, and travertine in the 3(full) bathrooms. All the bedrooms are carpeted. We have plenty of parking for boats or snowmobile trailers.
Need more room? We have a 10,000 SF B/B resort next to the house which has antiques galore and 9 more bedrooms plus a game room. It is a quite, romantic B/B and doesn't allow young children for that reason.
In the winter, 2 snowmobile trails are located by our road. Step out the door, climb on your snowmobile and hit the trails. There's also ice fishing everywhere on our lake and neighboring lakes. Cross country ski and snow shoe at anvil trail just 3 miles down the road in the Nicholet National Forest.
This log home is one of the nicest to be rented out in Northern Wisconsin and is great for groups, family reunions, small weddings, business seminars or your luxury vacation.

Why the Owner Chose Eagle River
We purchased original log home in 1998. December 5th, 2007, a terrible fire destroyed the entire house. We decided to rebuild the vacation house bigger and better but without a wood burning fireplace this time! (For obvious reasons). We replaced it with a gas fireplace however. Carpenter Lake is such a peaceful area that if one is looking to relax, you have it all here.
Hiking and biking trails in the Nicholet National Forest, 2 1/2 miles East on Highway 70

Property Owners Burn All Garbage & Recyclable Materials On Site

Beautiful lake. Beautiful Northwoods location. Unfortunately, the property owners burn all of the garbage and recyclable materials -including plastic - from the cabin and the B&B next door. The garbage and recyclable materials are burned in an incinerator near the cabin and the B&B. At times, the surely hazardous smoke kept us from enjoying the great outdoors. Truly a bummer when you are on vacation "Up North". On more than one occasion during the day, the smoke, smell and ash forced us inside the cabin (and to close the cabin windows) and kept us from enjoying an evening campfire. Something else to consider about this property is that the cabin is situated on top of a hill. It is a very steep climb down the hill and quite a work out climbing back up. Also, there is no designated path or stairway. Once down at the lake, however, there is a very nice sandy beach, ideal for swimming.

I would not recommend this property to a friend or a relative. There were many disappointments in this rental. It did no meet the standards of being one of the finest homes in Northern Wisconsin with all the amenities. 1. Railings on deck were loose and wobbly 2. Fishing boat had a leak 3. The burning of trash in an incinerator directly behind the house was environmentally hazardous as the owner burned plastic along with garbage and trash. One morning the ash that was floating in the air was very thick and covered the area. 4. Beach chairs were broken, with some arm rests not even there, with screws sticking up out of the wood 5. Railing on stairwell to the beach was in disrepair, needed better maintainace 6. Firepit was covered in cut down brush - We had to remove the brush before we could start the campfire 7. Only 2 kitchen towels and 2 kitchen wash cloths 8. Bathroom towels in poor shape, thin and bleached stained. 9. Grout not finished in some of the bathroom showers 10. Sheets and blankets were of modest quality 11. Bedrooms very small, our bedroom had the dresser pushed into the closet 12. Some ceiling tile was missing in the downstairs livingroom, which exposed the airconditioning open vent 13. With the house having the capacity of 24 people it could use another full bathroom, three is just not enough
Owner response:We feel this unfortunate review was the result of a security deposit problem which has been resolved and for which we take responsibility. This being said, we seek out and take to heart all comments which would help us make your stay more satisfying. Within a short time of this stay and before this comment was submitted, we completed the following planned improvements. As a result of heavy summer storm damage we had downed branches which have now been completely removed from the property. We purchased and placed in service two new 2012 Alumicraft fishing boats with 20 HP motors- full use of one comes included when you rent the home. All beach chairs were repaired or replaced and we plan major additions to the new pier and waterfront scheduled for completion Spring 2012. We completed work on this new lake home including final finishing of our walk-out level recreation room with additional 47 in. flat screen TV, living area, and game table so you may fully enjoy the over 2800 square feet of graceful northwoods living on all three levels. The ceiling tile issue was due to the heating/AC in the lower level needing completion when the lower level was completed. Scheduling issues between the contractor and the home being occupied all summer delayed that completion but was accomplished in 2011. We continue to upgrade our selection of kitchen supplies and cooking utensils as well as other supplies on an ongoing basis to meet the desires of our guests and we have a manager on site throughout the summer to respond to any of your needs or concerns. This has always been the case.

Patty & Bob (and Charlie too)..What a lovely place you have, and thank you for sharing it with us. We had 13 in our group, ages 60 years all the way down to 8 months, and fun was had by all...even the teenager had a great time. The weather couldn't have been any better, we even enjoyed the night when the huge storm came rolling across the lake. What a big surprise it was to find out that there were 2 more bedrooms added in the basement, and we never had to use either of the bunk rooms for sleeping...next time, we bring more people with us :o) Every morning we packed our gear and headed to the beach..how fun was that..plenty of sand to build those castles, and plenty of nights were filled with laughter around the fire pit (so glad we didn't scare away any guests from the Inn). This truly was a vacation that created many memories, from my 4 1/2 year old neice catching her 1st fish, the 49, 29 and 16 year old men playing king of the raft (oops, sorry about the raft), my 22 year old neice getting lost on a bike ride, and no cell service, and to the bears that had been seen by 10 out of the 13 people in our group. 12 Pines was a great place to grab a tasty burger, and we all loved the fish fry at the Honey Bear Inn. Thank you again, and I hope to return in the future. Sally B.
