My family spent a week here visiting military family. The location was great because it wasn't right down town Destin in the middle of the hustle, bustle and traffic. It was closer to the base but still easy driving to the attractions of Destin. We had 8 people in the condo at one time during the day and it was still comfortable. The beach toys and towels that were provided were perfect for sand castle building and flying a kite on the beach. We would definitely recommend this condo to friends and family.

We enjoy renting this unit. Have done so many time before. Love the location. Needs an update on the appointments, equipment for the kitchen. We like to do most of our cooking instead of eating out. Enjoy the grills. Towels need updating. Enjoy visiting with other renters. Would be nice to have a cable/channel guide for the main TV. Have and will continue to recommend this unit to friends. Will continue to come back to this unit.

We stayed in the unit the week of 7-12-7-19 2011. The description of this condo is not at all what you will find when you get there. There was only one key on the counter and one in the lock box. The patio doors did not lock. The electronics need to be updated.Most other condos have at least one flat screen TV this one has none. There was a DVD/VCR combo in the living room. The outdated TV armoire in the living room blocks the view of the ocean and needs to be removed. The couch is worn completely out and was only wide enough for my eleven year (84 pound daughter) to lie down on. The couch pillows and couch has stains all over it. It looks like it was bought at Salvation Army 20 years ago. This couch is described as a sleeper sofa, please do not count on using this to sleep on. The mattress is WORN OUT!!! The toaster was rusted as was the stove and refrigerator. The cookware was pathetic. There was NO playstation (and I did look in all the drawers) because the drawers in the entertainment center in the guest bedroom are not on tracks and fell out on my feet, so beware of that potential hazard. The beds are hard and it felt like we were sleeping on plywood. There was not enough bath towels. We had to call and ask for a remote for the guest bedroom TV which was brought to us the NEXT day. The patio furniture is far from fancy or updated. It doesn't even match. There is a very small patio table with two chairs and there is a glass table that doesn't have any matching chairs. There is two plastic chairs and one wicker type chair and chase. The beach umbrella is so faded out and worn out I actually got sunburned while sitting under this umbrella. One of the beach chairs is broken just as the other renter said. It took about 3 hours to dry a small load of clothes. I was even scared that the dryer would catch on fire due to running so long. This is a VERY small two bedroom unit. There was not enough seating for 6 people to sit and talk. One in each recliner and only two on the couch (three if you are extra extra extra skinny) and the others had to sit in dining room chairs and could not join our conversation. We have been renting in Ft. Walton for over 20 years and this was BY FAR the WORST condo ever. It needs to be updated severely. Do not believe that this condo was professionally decorated. IT WAS NOT!!! We will never stay here again or use this company. We have stayed at some very nice places on Okaloosa Island for less than what we paid here.

I wanted to let you know that there was only one key on the counter and one in the lock box. The listing on VRBO mentioned a game console (Playstation 2 with memory card) in the guest bedroom of the condo, but we never could find it. All of the lockable doors and cabinets in the condo were unsecured. The one nonstick skillet in the condo was damaged, the nonstick coating was worn badly. The toaster on the counter was rusted and it was very difficult to get it to engage. One of the beach chairs had a broken arm rest which made it useless. There was a third beach chair in the condo, but it was not the same as the other two and was a much lower quality. The VCR in the Master bedroom would not turn on and it had a VHS tape stuck in it (should be upgraded to a DVD player). We could not find the boogie board mentioned in the listing, so we had to buy one for $15, which we did not leave at the condo. We also did not find a DVD player in the Condo. The view was great and the condo was clean. That is about all the good I can say about this Condo. The TVs need to be upgraded to Flat screens and VHS/VCR players replaced with DVD and or BluRay players. The appliances need to be replaced or repainted. Ever kitchen appliance had visual rust on them. Beach chairs on the beach are $28 a day for 2 chairs and an umbrella, I suggest you plan on this cost in your vacation plans. The chairs and umbrella in the condo are dated and breaking down. As far as being near to shopping and eating. It is a 1 hour walk to the pier by beach. It is a 5-10 minute drive to The Boardwalk. The parking under the Condo is reserved for only a few Condos in the complex. This Condo is not included. However a good idea of adding a gear locker/chest like some of the other condos have with beach and pool items would increase the value of this condo, but it currently does not have it. Other than the added expense of beach chair rentals and buying boogie boards, we had a great time on the beach. There is something about the island that seems to split up the weather and the sun is always shining. I hope the problems I have listed in this review are fixed so that others can enjoy the condo even more. I would not recommend this condo in its current state to any of my friends, maybe someone I didn't like but not a close friend that knows where I live. I hope you read and take this review into consideration before researving this Condo. Unhappy Rob
Owner response:We rented for 4 nights to Rob. The playstation was there, you just didn't look in the drawers. However, we will take it out of the condo so we do not get comments like this, thanks Rob. There is a DVD in living room. Some of the things (like boogie board) have been taken out due to liability issues. It sounds like Rob was more interested in finding things wrong than enjoying himself. The condo was wonderful! The condo was as nice as the description in your ad. The view was unbeliveable and we enjoyed watching the dolphines. The beach was so clean and the water was amazingly beautiful. We also enjoyed cooking with the use of the grill. It was perfect for my newly married son and wife and my husband and I. Everything in town was close and convenient. There is something for everyone to enjoy. This was amoung one of the nicest places I have every stayed and would love to come back! Thanks for the wonderful week at the beach!

Great overall. Right on the beach. The pool was a little small. Suggestion: I would suggest removing TV cabinet doors in living room and bedrooms. I hope that BP gas goes down for what they have done ! ! ! !

I have stayed at the Summerlin before but this is the first time in your unit. Even though it rained off and on during our stay...the view is perfect and then such a close walk to the beach. It makes one feel like the sun is shining even when it isn't. I would definitely stay here again. Thanks so much.

OMG - This condo is amazing! Great balcony, great furniture and great tools for cooking. The grill downstairs was used very often by us. We will be back next year.

We had an absolutely wonderful time in your condo and in Ft. Walton. It was truly a wonderful condo. It was very comfortable and was equipped with everything needed to relax. The decor was great and nothing could top the beautiful view. We enjoyed the sunrise,sunset, watching dolphins,and the paradise view. It was a very romantic setting as well. What a wonderful time was had by all. Your condo was like a home away from home. It was just lovely! We saw sharks, stingrays and dolphins, ate wonderful food at the local restaurants, golfed, and shopped till we dropped in Destin. Okaloosa Island and your condo is the perfect vacation! 1/15/07 My husband and I stayed here for two months and although the weather was unseasonably chilly the first month, we had a relaxing respite. Ray sat on the beach, fishing most days and caught two Red fish...32" and 35", approx. 10-15 lbs. each. Had to throw back because they were too large to keep. We took advantage of the nicer weather and played golf several times at Shalimar which is only 15 minutes away. Beautiful course and only $39 green fees. Our son, wife and two grandsons, 5 and 8 joined us for ten days and they had a ball. The beach toys came in very handy. The condo is well-equipped and very clean and comfortable. The beds were wonderfully comfortable. We cooked most of our meals and found great fresh sea food at the Publix market nearby.

This is a great place to stay. We love Okaloosa Island as it is much quieter than staying in Destin with less traffic and yet it is only a short distance from everything. The condo is the perfect spot for relaxing, sitting on the balcony, watching the dolphins and seagulls. Everything was as described on your website. It was very clean and well stocked with so many things. We loved the recliners for watching tv and reading. It is a short walk to the beach and a great place to watch the sunrises and sunsets. It was cool so we were able to open the patio doors with no a/c and listen to the waves. What a treat! We look forward to returning in the future.

We have stayed in Ft. Walton/Destin area many times. This is by far one of the BEST units we have stayed in. The views and short walk to the beach were great. All accomodations were well suited to our needs. The weather was great for October and we couldn't have asked for anything more than we got. Buzz, You were a life-saver! 34 hours before we were to leave for vacation, I discovered my revervations that I had made somewhere else had been lost and we had no condo. I called you and you were very quick to get us taken care of, and we could not have been happier with your condo. The condo is very nice and comfortable with plenty of room. We thoroughly enjoyed our condo. It was a small complex, making the beach uncongested and so much more private than other places we have stayed. The condo was inviting, clean, well-equipped and had a fantastic view. We have been going to this same area for about 20 years and this was our favorite place to stay! What a great condo! I loved the spaciousness of the rooms, especially the kitchen. The view was great,and the beach was not crowded. Dear Buzz and Debi, We have just returned this Sunday from our visit to your condo.The overall experience was simply-GREAT! The weather was superb,the water clear as ever, and the condo itself was more than I expected. The decor was warm and tropical.The mattress in the master suite was better than my own,and the girls said their bed was perfect also.I was VERY impressed with all the extras that you provided,from the beach chairs (4)and the beach umbrella,to the beach towels and toys.The kitchen was better supplied than my own from the spices to detergents and etc etc. I could go on and on, but I want your future clients to make their own positive findings. You have a truly lovely place here. I'm happy for you that more damage didn't occur here from Hurricane Katrina. Thank you for sharing your condo with us. You have a beautiful place. Your Noahs Ark cross stitch picture is absolutely amazing! It is so clean and house warming. We appreciated all of the extra things you left for us like towels, sand toys and beach chairs. I hope we can come back soon. Due to Hurricane Ivan, we didn't think we'd find a place to stay in Fort Walton this past Fall. We really got lucky when we found this condo. It has lots of space and all the comforts of home. The furnishings, artwork and décor are perfect. We normally don't like to cook on vacation, but in this kitchen, we were willing to make an exception! There are two bedrooms, both with king size beds and walk in closets. The master opens onto the balcony facing the gulf. It was incredibly relaxing. It's been over a month since our stay, and we wish we could go back! Thanks to the Embrys for making their home available to us.

We have been going to the Destin/Ft. Walton area for 10 years and this is the nicest condo we have ever stayed in. Unlike most, it felt like a home. The view was perfect. The beds were more comfortable than my own. The unit was very spacious and tastefully decorated. The complex was very nice and quiet. We had everything we needed (except maybe a beach umbrella). I would definitely rent from the owners again. Everything was exactly as we had agreed upon. My only regret was being unable to stay longer. Thank you for the use of your home and for being so nice. Our vacation was full of happy memories.
