    • My wife, toddler daughter, nephew and I spent five nights around Christmas 2008. The house is typical Tico, simple and rustic. "Nice bathrooms" per my wife - this seems to be key to acceptability. The kitchen is sparsely furnished, stove was functional. Washer and dryer worked great and were more needed than we expected. It is private, secluded and tropically lush. We were glad to have a 4WD to get up the driveway -- it is not rough but is steep. There is nice hiking to be found directly from the property. If you are looking for a location to explore SE Costa Rica this is a good option, close to Cahuita, Bribri and Puerto Viejo de Talamanca. John and Sharon, who manage the property, are gracious and wonderful people and were more than helpful. We would happily stay here again.

    • We stayed in the house for a month in February and March. It was a great experience. The house is secluded with lots of animals, birds, and repitles. We would awake to the howler monkeys in the morning and spend time on the upper patio watching all the birds. It was an amazing show everyday. We also saw a pizote, and another little animal that we do not know the name of. There is a huge iguana that lives about 80 feet up in a tree that we were able to spot with our binoculars. The grounds are covered with many different beautiful flowers. We picked different types of bananas and made lemonade with the wild lemons. We highly recomment the house. The house is located between two beach towns which are easily accessed by bus. It is the best of both worlds as you can enjoy the local towns or stay home and enjoy the solitude reading in the hammock. We became friends with the caretakers. They are a delightful couple who speak both English and Spanish and have lots of local knowledge.
