Location: Highlands, Smoky Mountains, North Carolina, USA (Only 4.3 miles (7 minutes) from downtown Highlands!) View Map
Accommodations: Cabin, 3 Bedrooms + Loft, 3 Baths (Sleeps 6-8)
Keywords: Cabin, Highlands, NC
Visit our beautiful vacation home in Highlands, North Carolina! Bright and airy with lots of high windows: Rain or shine, there's never a dreary day at Creekview Cabin! Located at 4,100 feet, it's generally a good 20 degrees cooler than Atlanta or points south.
A great location, whatever your interests; only 7 minutes to main street Highlands, only 10 minutes to the Cashiers crossroads. Just off Highway 64, but on the back side of the ridge, so it's *quiet* and peaceful. Highlands is a fantastic place to vacation, with miles of hiking trails, interesting shops and superb restaurants in town, many golf courses, streams, waterfalls and lakes everywhere. It's been our favorite destination for the last 12 years, so we're eager to share it with our guests!
Three bedrooms and three baths sleep 6 comfortably, with room for another two on the comfortable sleeper sofa in the loft. Insulation in the walls and between floors gives good privacy, makes it easy for three couples (or a family with kids) to share the space without feeling like you're living in each other's back pockets. Every bedroom has a 26" flat-screen HDTV with cable connection and a DVD player, and there's a 42" screen and home theater system in the living room - No fighting over who gets to watch what!
Get a house of your own with 3 bedrooms & 3 baths, and freedom to come and go as you please, plus a pet-friendly atmosphere, for *less* than you'd pay for a basic hotel suite in town! We'd stayed in hotels and commercial cabins for years until we realized what a lousy deal it was: Private cabins like ours make *so* much more sense!
Can't get *completely* away? We know the feeling! There's a nice, very functional office area in the loft, with a large-screen monitor and printer/fax/copier for guest use. High-speed cable modem and Wi-Fi are also included, and there's free long-distance dialing for the entire US. If you can manage it, by all means turn off the email. Sometimes though, staying connected can mean the difference between a hurried weekend or relaxing week away. - Or between a week and a month's stay. At Creekview Cabin, you can stay as close or as far from work as you'd like, the choice is yours!
Creekview Cabin is dog-friendly: We *love* pets, but let us know about yours first. Highlands is a great place for dogs, you'll find lots of other dog-lovers up here if you choose to bring yours. Our little Aussie *loves* Highlands and our cabin, we bet your pets will too! (Sorry, dogs only; we regretfully don't accept cats as guests.)
Our cabin is *professionally managed* by one of the nicest, most accommodating rental agents you could meet. Lori will make sure everything's just so before you arrive, and if you need anything during your stay, she and her husband live right nearby, are there to help. (Lost keys or clogged drain? No worry over an owner in Atlanta or elsewhere trying to deal with it in the middle of the night: Lori's right there in Highlands, no problem need interfere with your relaxation!)
We LOVE Highlands, and think you will too! Give it a try, you'll be hooked for life!
PS: Visiting friends in the area? Our place is literally just across the main road from the Culasaja Club and just down the road from Wildcat Cliffs Country Club and Old Edwards at Highlands Cove. Stay here, visit there; all three are literally two minutes away!
Vacation Rental Features

- Linens Provided : 400-threadcount sheets on all beds. Smoooth & comfy!
- Washer : Stacked washer-dryer set, makes it easy to keep ahead of laundry, with no trips to the laundromat or hassles with sharing a unit with other guests.
- Dryer
- Off Street Parking : Ample parking area: Three cars easily, four in a pinch, or two cars with a boat, etc.
- Parking for RV/Boat/Trailer : You'll need to back it up the driveway, but plenty of room for two cars plus a boat.

- Beds
- King Bed : Upstairs master has a King bed.
- Queen Bed (2) : Downstairs master and guest bedroom have Queen beds.
- Convertible Bed : There's a convertible bed/sofa in the loft. It's a non-private sleeping area, but a great place for the kids!
- Entertainment
- Cable/Satellite TV (4) : 42" flat-screen HDTV in Living Room, every bedroom has its own 26" flat-screen HDTV with a DVD player. (Great for families w/kids, no fighting over what to watch! Nice for couples sharing the cabin too, everyone can watch their own movie or TV. Insulation in walls helps keep TV noise from traveling between bedrooms.)
- DVD (4)
- CD Player
- Stereo System
- Music Library (4) : Bring *your* music library! Living room stereo and the clock-radios in all the bedrooms have iPod docks, so you surround yourself with all your favorite music.

- Deck/Patio : Two decks: An open deck with gas grill, plus a spacious (10 foot wide) covered porch. Beautiful, comfortable wicker porch furniture. Very spacious and comfy, a great place to sit & sip something cool and watch the sun sink behind the trees!
- View/Location
- Waterfront, not Lake/Oceanfront. Ask for details : A babbling creek tumbles down a ravine next to the cabin. Sit on the covered porch and be lulled by the sounds of water over rocks and pools.
- Mountain View : We actually don't think of it as a "mountain view" ourselves, as the view is through the trees, but a number of guests have commented on the beautiful view, so we won't argue. (In the winter and early spring with the leaves down, you can see Shortoff Mountain and others in the range from the living room area. In the summer, you'll know you're in the mountains, but honestly won't be looking at them directly.)
- Communications
- Telephone (4) : Cordless phone in every bedroom and the kitchen, corded phone in the loft office area.
- Free Long Distance : Free long distance service covers all of the continental US. Cell coverage is spotty in the mountains (although Verizon and AT&T both work well at the cabin), so the free phone will come in handy!
- Computer : Actually, not a computer, but there *is* a large 23" Apple Cinema display for your use, with both DVI and VGA connectors to plug into your laptop. There's also a printer/fax/scanner unit you can connect to via WiFi or USB.
- Broadband Internet
- WiFi (Wireless Internet) : *Two* 802.11n routers, take your pick: One encrypted for secure connection to keep your information confidential. If you have any problems connecting, though, just plug in the second router for a wide-open internet connection.
- Suitability
- Pet Friendly : We're dog lovers; that's a big part of why we bought this place. We'd appreciate learning about your pets first, but look forward to helping other families bring their pets along on vacations.

Creekview Cabin - Gorgeous, New (2008), Relaxing!
Year Purchased: 2008
Why the Owner Chose Highlands
Highlands is a truly special area: We love the outdoors, and the miles of trails, streams, and waterfalls within easy driving distance. We also love the excellent restaurants in the area and great shops in town. We can go out and hike and get grubby enjoying nature's wonders during the day and then take a quick shower and enjoy 5-star dining at night. We've never found a place quite like it, and it's so close to Atlanta where we live: What a find! We're also dog-lovers; and our cabin is a place we can enjoy with Charlotte, our little Aussie. Helping other families with four-footed family members enjoy vacation time together was another part of our motivation in buying Creekview Cabin.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin
When we were looking for a place, the listing for Creekview Cabin said "convenient to both Cashiers and Highlands." We remember thinking "yeah, right - that means it's convenient to neither." We decided to check it out regardless, though, and for once the real estate agent's description was accurate. It's such a short trip to Highlands (about 7 minutes along the main road) that we don't think twice about going into town. At the same time, places in the Cashiers valley that used to seem like a long trek when we stayed in town or down towards Dillard are now really accessible as well. Lots of our favorite hikes are down that side of the mountains (Panthertown Valley and the Chatooga River area), as well as our favorite restaurant (The Orchard) and great grocery shopping at the big Ingles, just east of the crossroads. Thanks to the location, we're enjoying more of the mountains than we ever did before. (We've also rented to a number of people who have friends with places at one of the nearby country clubs: We're literally across the road from the Culasaja Club, and only a bit over a mile to Wildcat Cliffs, just slightly further to Old Edwards at Highlands Cove. If you'd like to visit friends with a place at one of those clubs, you literally can't get much closer than our cabin!)
Visiting Friends at the Culasaja Club? We're practically across the road from them!
Visiting friends at the Wildcat Cliffs country club? It's only about a mile down the main road from our turnoff, you can be there in literally ~3 minutes!

This property was exactly as promised in the VRBO listing. The kitchen was well-equipped to handle all my Thanksgiving meal preparation. The location is very quiet but close enough to both Highlands and Cashiers. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to others.
Owner response:Hi Rita - So glad your Thanksgiving was so nice, and that the kitchen worked out well for you. I hope we can welcome you back again!

We found the cabin to be very clean and well appointed. There's a TV and DVD in every room which makes a family stay even better. The location is excellent -- within 10 minutes of Highlands and Cashiers / almost across the street from the Whiteside Mountain trail/ and no treacherous uphill car climbs. It just feels like home!
Owner response:Hi Kevin - Thanks for taking time to leave a note; we're really happy that the cabin worked so well for you and Mindy and your family! We look forward to welcoming you back in the future! Best, Dave E.

Thank you so much for such an incredible cabin. You don't miss much in the way of details! We got tons of snow, so we were able to go sledding on my birthday. Being from Nashville, TN, that was a rare treat for sure! The views were amazing and the cabin was extremely comfortable. The Rib Shack was a great lnch treat for my big day. All in all your cabin gave me the setting for a great birthday with my family. Thanks!

We really enjoyed our stay in your cabin. It's beautifully furnished and very comfortable. We cooked & appreciated the fact that the kitchen had everything we needed. The most difficult thing we found about this beautiful home was having to say goodbye to it! Thanks, and please keep us on your update list!

We had a great 3 day Halloween weekend. We hiked Whiteside Mt. in the rain and were the only ones on the mountain. We also had a great time trick or treating in town. Your home is beautiful. We would love to come back again! Thank-you for sharing your home with us!

Our 8 day stay couldn't have been more perfect. Day after day of sunshine and glorious foliage. Your lovely cabin provided the respite we were looking for from the hurly-burly of the world. Rest, relaxation, reading, good movies, and lots of good dinners, mostly cooked on the barbie. Did I mention wonderful sleep in the quiet & crisp mountain air? Home fires burning, a glass of red wine or two, and my beloved by my side. Thank you for providing an exquisite haven for our vacation. The local bear (*very* large) was an added bonus, beware those with dogs to keep them close! Lori Bee was wonderful in attending to our questions and minor peccadillos. We'll long remember our time in Highlands! Thank you again!

We really enjoyed our week here, even though we had six days of rain and snow on the last. The cabin is well furnished and nicely stocked. We had a fire every night and enjoyed the gas grill. The Highlands is a beautiful area and we hope to come back again.
