Owner's Profile
Owner Description
Year Purchased: 2007
I am New Orleans transplant who was looking for a similar creative energy in a small-ish mountain town where the weather is pretty moderate year round. Amazing folks here in Asheville, great place to raise a kid, or just be who you are. Have traveled the world, still have a lot more to see, and love meeting people with a sense of adventure in whatever realm that finds fruition. My partner has been a "native" of Asheville for almost 10 years, but a resident of the world for so much longer and an ingenious muse to all who know him. We are this year's reigning King & Queen of the Asheville Mardi Gras. Our home is next door and we are happy to be of guidance or assistance to our guests as they want us to be.
Why the Owner Chose Asheville
Local neighborhood but less than 2 miles to downtown!
Area is unique and funky with coffee shops, open artist studios, restaurants, bars and boutiques, yet has a quiet neighborhood feel.
The Unique Benefits of this Studio
Recent total renovation of the cottage, with brightly colored walls, plenty of light, gorgeous cherry, slate and hardwood floors.
The bedroom is a custom-built platform bed (nearly King sized with 4' heavy duty foam topped with 3" quality memory foam), thick insulation in the walls and custom sconce lighting make this perfect for cozying down with a good book or snuggling up in someone's arms.
Fully equipped kitchen with full sized antique farm sink, full sized stove and eating nook allow you the option of making a home-cooked meal.
The patio area outside is perfect for enjoying the herb garden, watching the birds and relaxing with a cup of coffee or nice glass of wine.
Views out of the living room window include long range views of the Biltmore Estate property (about 3 miles away) as well as the meticulously landscaped back yards of the neighboring homes.

I stayed at The Rabbit Hole for three days for a birthday weekend in Asheville. What a lovely, cozy little cottage! It has everything you need, and is in a great section of AVL, close to many shops and fantastic restaurants. Margaret and her husband are very sweet, and responsive to any questions about the property. It's a quiet neighborhood, the bed is comfy and I really felt at home there. I'll definitely be back!
Owner response:Thank you so much for the review! We love wonderful happy guests like you!!

Overall, my boyfriend and I adored the Rabbit Hole - so cute, with more amenities and comfort than a boutique hotel! The bed was a bit soft for my old lady-esque back, but I still slept quite soundly thanks to the fresh linens and mountain air. Plus, it was a great excuse to take a long bath in that gorgeous, vintage tub. The only slight inconvenience were a few curious ants, but Margaret warned us ahead of time and left provisions for sealing our food. The best recommendation, however, came from my (rather pragmatic, sometimes-not-so-romantic) boyfriend, who announced he found it "charming and quite nice." The Rabbit Hole is a must-try, especially for the price, proximity and prettiness!
