Beautiful Log Home in the woods!

Impeccable log home in the woods just a stones throw south of Whitefish, and north of Kalispell.beautiful property, with lots of wildlife. It is like stepping into a warm home, NOT just a rental property. The kitchen is for gourmet cooking, with a commercial Wolf range/oven/salamander, all the dishes, condiments, counter appliances, and Space, that one could dream of. The bedrooms and baths are as comfortable as home...in fact, I awoke the first night and thought I was at home! We were here for the skiing (which is fantastic... Great mountain and snow...with no lift lines!) only 15 minute drive past town. Whitefish is a great town. Good food, people, and a great old main street with local owner stores. Bob, the owner, is great, and has left a logbook here that details all the things to do and where to eat, along with very thoughtful and personal details about how to take care of his place. I very much appreciated that. And Becky, the caretaker, probably isn't getting paid enough for the pristine condition this place is in! Lastly, I have built and stayed in many log homes, and this one is one of the most finely crafted buildings I have seen! Your builder knew what he/she was doing. Carpentry, finishing, flooring, bathrooms, heating, control of log setting... Are all top notch. I plan on many returns. I would recommend this place to anyone!....unless you want it at the same time I do in the future! Mike W. MinneapolisRecommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Mike you didn't mention that you were mad I called you sir:)! I just realized that perhaps it is because I didn't address you as Doctor:)! Thank you for such a wonderful review. Log homes are interesting because they have to be completely cut and assembled at Point A and then marked and dissassembled and brought on site and re-assembled. It is increadibly labor intensive and as you can see a few of those logs have to be 100 feet in length. Unfortunately for me log homes are also incredibly labor intensive due to all the little animals that want to share your home :)! Anyway, thank you so so much for your wonderful and kind words and I am so glad you and your family are really enjoying your time up there!!! Bob

We had incredible 4-day stay. The cabin is only 10 minutes away from downtown Whitefish and about 20 mins from Big Mountain ski area but when you're in the cabin you feel like you're deep in the Montana wilderness....very secluded and peaceful. It's a true log cabin but very spacious with all the amenities you want (tv, internet, large kitchen with professional stove). Great place to relax after a day on the slopes.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thanks a lot Adrian. Your wife told me you learned to finally use a coffee maker on your stay!! Congrats :) You are now a mountain man. Seriously - I am really glad you enjoyed your time up there and my place. Bob

We stayed at Bob's cabin from February 18th until Feb 23rd 2013. There were six of us (including an 18 and 16 year old, there very first ski trip). Five of us flew from Sydney Australia and one drove from Portland Oregan. Just driving up to the cabin was amazing it looked exactly like the photo's. Inside was just as spectacular, everything was so neat and clean with everything one could want including a few staples left by previous guests which was a lovely surprise (oil, sugar, flour etc everything very usable). I woke the first morning to deer outside the bedroom window, the two teenagers explored outside and took some great shots of the outdoors with snow on the ground and on the trees. The location is fabulous only a few minutes to the supermarket, ski hire shops, bars, restaurants. We drove to Glacier National Park and went snow shoeing which was amazing. We made good use of the fabulous stove and cooked 3 nights in a row before venturing out to explore other venues. Lots of good red wine was consumed in front of the lovely wood stoves which keep the house toasty warm, Bob supplied all the wood which we thank you for as it was a bit chilly outside. We are now trying to persuade the parents of the 18 year old that we took with us to come over next year to explore but that will depend on the availability of Bob's cabin as we would not stay anywhere else. For anyone thinking of a holiday in Big Mountain do not hesitate to contact Bob I am telling you it will be the best experience. We thank you Bob for allowing us to share your beautiful home and also a very big thank you to Becky who was always available to answer any questions and we hope we didn't leave you to much work (apart from looking for the cushions, the boys do feel bad about that believe me and have been suitably chastised). Best wishes from the crew Down Under and Portland we will be back.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: THANKS SO MUCH MARK - what a great review. I think the Aussies are taking over the town as a fun loving town draws fun loving people! I was downtown in the Great Northern and all of sudden a group of people from all different parts of New South Wales walked in :)! Crazy - Thanks a ton and a discount is always offered returning renters. Bob

We really enjoyed staying at this gorgeous cabin which is very roomy. The woods surrounding are so nice. The caretaker is friendly and helpful. Thanks so much! We had a lot of fun. Great for dogs. The in floor heating is really nice. Great space.Owner response: Hey Allie I am so happy you guys enjoyed yourselves! It sounded like it was a pretty chilly weekend but if you get those two wood burning stoves going with the radiant floor heating it really gets cozy in there. Thanks so much for the kind words! Bob

In a word- WOW! Hard to find the words to describe this beautiful, incredible home. And we live in a great house on 40 acres ourselves, so when I say this place is fabulous, I know what I'm talking about! From the moment we drove into the property, we knew we had found a jewel. We love the woods and privacy, but we also like a comfortable yet elegant home. This home has it all! From the large rooms, fantastic kitchen and master bedroom, to the deck and property- it is all more than you could hope for. We were also so lucky to have great weather- sunny days and cool nights, which we first enjoyed on the deck, then in front of the fire. The kitchen is completely stocked with condiments and every appliance you could want. Our only regret is we didn't stay longer! Bob- you have a gem!!Owner response: Thank you so much for this wonderful review and I certainly love reading about how others enjoy my home as much as I do! Almost sad to say that in Sept of 2012 most of June and all of July and August 2013 are booked and if I don't have solid plans for the following year I get left out in the cold!! Thanks again and return renters always get a nice fat discount! Bob

First let me say the cabin is bigger than it looks in these pictures. We came down to do some golf in the area and relax. The cabin's convenient location between Whitefish and Kalispell made for quick trips to basically anywhere. The yard was very well maintained and spacious which gave us ample room to enjoy frisbee, lawn darts and enjoy a nighttime campfire without disturbing any neighbors. The cabin has all the amenities you could want, from a huge kitchen with equally huge stove, to satalite tv in the master bedroom to keep up on any shows or events you may want. Beds were spacious, comfortable and plenty. We has six adults there, but there was room for more. We would definitely rent this property again!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Leeson, It was an absolute pleasure dealing with you guys and always give returning renters a discount. Glad you guys had a great time and thanks for the wonderful review. Have a great summer! Bob

My wife and I stayed about a week at this wonderful place with our dog. It was terrific! Personally I like being away from town when on vacation to get privacy and some peace and quiet. This place offered both. Its just a few minutes away from downtown Whitefish and about 15-20 from the ski hill (which was awesome). My wife and I were very impressed with the living spaces and it would be perfect for a few couples or a smaller family reunion (3 couples with extra bunk space for kids). We would definitely recommend this place. I also have to note that the owner was terrific in the booking process. He also had a book at the house with good local restaurant recommendations that helped us with our dining decisions. Also we were not bothered by any local property managers during our stay (which we have had, and is quite annoying). Overall a great place and we would love to stay there again.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thanks so much for the great review. I just flew back myself and we had 36" of snow to play in the last 7 days and lots of live bands to choose from over St. Pattis day. So much fun! Thanks again!!!

My family of 4 and friends made 8 staying in this great cabin. It was wonderfully setup and had everything you could possibly want. It is located on a beautiful piece of land and we couldn't see any other homes. Saw deer most mornings. We loved the wood burning fireplaces. It heated the house so well I don't think the heat ever turned on. It is nicely located between Kalispell and Whitefish about 10 minute drive to both. It is definitely a hidden gem and I highly recommend it. We had an issue with getting the stove to light one day and the owner quickly returned our call and had the issue fixed immediately. My kids can't wait for our next trip to whitefish and we will not look at another rental. This definitely became our home away from home.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thanks so much for your kind words! I will be up there next week for St Patti Day weekend and can not wait. The winters up there are so relaxing in front of the wood burning stove. Just remember I give returning renters a discount and every single year I get a lot of them! Look forward to hearing from you again next winter.

Location, Location, Location! This is the very best place we have stayed at and we have been going to the Flathead valley for the last 30+ years, it is so convenient for all local attractions and just simply beautiful. (Previously we had mostly camped and hotel/motel which we won't be doing now!) What an awesome abode you have Bob, from the moment we drove up, it felt like home. It was neat and clean, had comfy beds, all necessary (plus some) amenities and that Wolf stove!!! A wonderful unit that made cooking fun with everyone taking turns! We were there for 5 days over New Years with 6 young adults ranging in age from 24-28 (our 3 kids plus their friends) and we had the best time with our family and friends. We skied, oudoor ice skated, bowled, hiked around the property, shopped, went to a movie and had a great meal on New Years eve at McGarrys. I would have to say for me, the best was spending quality time with our family in a truly lovely home. We played alot of games and talked and laughed... the techy equipment didn't get turned on even once! Not even the TV's! Thanks so much for the wonderful holiday and we hope to be back to enjoy your Valley playground in the summer!Owner response: Thank you so much for the wonderful review. I will be adding a "home theatre" experience to the master bedroom when I get up there in January and by April will have re-painted the deck and hopefully made some other improvements to the property that makes everyones stay just a little bit nicer. The common area is without TV on purpose for all the reasons that you have mentioned and re-connecting with family and friends (and with myself) is exactly why I own the home. Thank you again and I feel truly blessed that I have this home in beautiful Whitefish as a getaway of my own. Happy New Year and all the best to you and your family in 2012. Bob

My family and I rented Bob's cabin for the week of Christmas 2011. The cabin's location is perfectly located in Whitefish and very near Kalispell, near everything you need as far as shopping and attractions. We found the cabin very comfortable and has all the creature comforts you would have in your own home. Bob and Pat, the caretaker, were very accommodating and made the cabin rental a great experience. The kitchen is well appointed and the bedding very comfortable. The home is spacious and relaxing. My family and I went on several walks outside the property and saw deer in the front yard several mornings as well. My family and I also loved the privacy the cabin offered with its large property. Glacier National Park is roughly 30 minutes away and going there is what I would describe a religious experience. Big Mountain in Whitefish is roughly 30 minutes away as well and the views from there were breathe taking. I would highly recommend this cabin to families of all age ranges. My family and I look forward to renting Bob's cabin again God willing, in the near future. Thanks again Bob, Ozzy and Carolynn.Owner response: It makes me so happy when a renter enjoys my home, the area its in and especially Whitefish and Glacier National Park as much as I do. I took great pains to find a very centrally located home that was just enough off of the beaten path to enjoy the wonderful nature of the area but not so far off that it is a challenge to get in and out easily. Returning renters always get a discount and I look forward to hearing from you next year. Thanks so much for the kind words, Bob

This is THE perfect place, so close to Whitefish and Kalispell but quiet and secluded. We were looking for a home in the woods but also a place near a town with good restaurants. The home is charming and well appointed --- cozy for two but enough room for family and friends. We highly recommend this property and hope we have the opportunity for a return visit. We also found the owner very agreeable and easy to work with.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We were looking for a nice log home for our vacation in Whitefish - and we found it with Bob's home. It very comfortable and spacious. The kitchen is amazing -it has everything you need and more. We ate all of our meals at the house -cooked on the big Wolf range and the outdoor barbecue/grill every day. The house has a very nice layout , easily accomodated our 2 families and 2 dogs. The beds were very comfortable and both bathrooms were roomy. We saw deer every day and wild turkeys close by. We managed to squeeze alot of fun into one week. We Ziplined, went whitewater rafting, climbed Big Mountain , went fishing, went to as many of the farmers markets in the Flathead Valley that we could, drove the Going to The Sun Road, and saw the Many Glacier Area of GNP and more. We had a wonderful time . It is a beautiful area -stunning scenery and very friendly people. We gladly recommend Bob's Montana Log Home to others and we are already thinking about going back!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, pet owners, sightseeing.

We enjoyed our stay greatly. The log cabin houses a large group well with its large kitchen and two wood burning fireplaces. The setting is private and beautiful. The location was great for Kallispell shoppers and Whitefish skiers. Robert was good to deal with and the price is fair. We plan to go back. And were happy to recommend it based on our experience.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My wife and two kids and their two friends had a really wonderful time up at this home. The kids each had their own king sized beds and there were lots of trails and woods to explore right out the front door even though the home had a great central location. We went into Glacier two seperate days and really enjoyed that but nothing was as nice as coming home and sitting out on the big front deck and relaxing in the evenings. My wife loved the jacuzzi tub in the bathroom and I loved the huge kitchen and comfy bed (high off the ground). We all loved just getting away from it all here and my kids are already begging to take them back next year. Thanks a lot Bob!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

If you're looking to spend some time away from the hustle and bustle of your daily life, this is the perfect place to stay. Whether it's just two of you or a whole group, this house accommodates with amenities to suit both. The master bedroom and bath is conveniently located on the first floor with a second floor that could easily sleep 7 friends or relatives. The fully-stocked, gourmet kitchen and family room has an open layout, which makes it great for entertaining and relaxing. Two wood-burning fireplaces keep the house warm and inviting. The best part about staying here is that there's total privacy. Neighboring woods on all sides, this is the ultimate retreat yet an easy drive to all the good restaurants in the area, skiing and GNP. Highly recommend.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
