We stayed at Avalon over the new years holiday and had a wonderful time. The house was far nicer than we anticipated. The pictures on the vrbo site are accurate, but certainly under promise the true extent of the house. The bedrooms are massive to the point that our two small children (1 and 3) stayed in the room with us as opposed to using the other bedrooms - the younger in a pack-n-play they provided and the other on the blow up mattress that was also provided. Very short walk to the beach, and though we opted to not get the pool heated up - would certainly see where that would come in quite handy in the warmer months. Kitchen was well equipped, appliances were first classs, and seating for 8 comfortably.... easily could have accomodated a few more. Owners were great to work with, very responsive to the few questions we had once we arrived. Very few details, if any, were overlooked with this property. Good times had by all. Definitely hope to return and would recommend to multiple families travelling with small children.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children.

My family stayed at this lovely home while in the area for a wedding. We had 13 people in our group, 7 of them children, and the home had room for everyone without feeling crowed. Andrea was responsive to questions and even purchased life-vests for the younger children when I inquired if they might have some. We were not disappointed in any way. We recommend this home!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

Our Senior Women's tennis team was in town for a tournament. The house was perfect for us - well-appointed, comfortable. clean and spacious. For a group of women traveling together, the number of beds was a big plus, as was the fact that each bedroom has a bathroom. Plenty of towels and lots of hot water for our frequent showers. The owners were a delight to work with and I was congratulated by everyone in our group for finding a great house. Long Island Cafe, practically around the corner, is a favorite place for dinner. Avalon by the Sea has our recommendation.Recommended for: People with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We had a family get-together with 3 generations at this house. Here's what worked for us: - The beach is more than lovely and a very easy walk straight down 23rd street. Everything you could want for the beach is in the garage under the house. The shower in the garage keeps the house from getting sandy during the week. - Late July in SC is hot and humid, but the house was very well air-conditioned. We spent our time at the beach, in the house and on boating excursions so didn't mind the heat at all. - Each bedroom has an attached bathroom. - My elderly father-in-law was able to use the elevator to get into and out of the house. He can't do stairs anymore. - We did loads of cooking in the spacious kitchen. It was an extra bonus to be able to watch the kids in the pool outside from the kitchen. On the other hand, we did have an issue with the owner over how we left the house at the end of our stay. I think this can be avoided in the future if there is an option to request extra cleaning services up front. With a party of our size and age range, we just weren't able to put the kitchen and a few other things back to rights before leaving. If that option were available next time, I could pay for the extra cleaning up front and the owners could have more time to schedule and staff it.Owner response: Thank for the feedback - happy you enjoyed our wonderful home. The issue we had was that when our manager & housekeeper arrived, they were upset with the condition of the kitchen and other parts of the house (i.e. a fort made with sheets and blankets anchored with clothespins in a master closet). They pride themselves on leaving our home in pristine condition and were worried about finishing on time. We feel if a guests has a real problem as this person describes, it is up to them to give me or our wonderful manager a call. We normally spend 5 to 6 hrs. cleaning but if more time is needed we can then bring in extra help.

Avalon by the Sea provided our family with delightful Christmas week holiday. The home was beyond lovely and all the amenities were more than promised. The space was perfect for 4 couples and a little one (the owners even provided toys to use during the stay). We especially loved the heated swimming pool. Although the days were quite cold and the nights even colder- the pool stayed heated to 90 degrees and was a delight to use especially on the very cool nights. Of course we had to move quickly from the pool to the house when the swim was over. The owners were helpful as we needed them. Thank you for a wonderful family vacation spot.Recommended for: Families with young children, girls getaway.

We all enjoyed Avalon! We were very comfortable and had plenty of room for all of us including the other members of the family who live nearby to gather with us. We celebrate our traditional Family Christmas which includes my two sisters’ families. This year all were able to gather from Chicago, New York, St. Petersburg, Atlanta, Mt. Pleasant and Lexington. We had great fun as we gathered at Avalon to eat, play and enjoy Christmas greetings. The hospitality shown us was great! There were even some decorations greeting us to make the gathering more festive.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway.

Our families enjoyed a great time at Avalon by the Sea. The house is spacious, well decorated and very nice. The kitchen was an excellent benefit, as we were able to have not only a beautiful chef's kitchen for preparing meals, but it is a great central gathering place. The kitchen is also well stocked with the miscellaneous needed for cooking (spices, salt, etc.) The bedrooms are all VERY spacious. There were several infants who stayed in pack in plays in the room with the adults, and there was more than enough room. The garage area is very large and oversized, providing great "beach stuff storage" in between trips to the beach. The house already had several nice beach things (umbrellas, chairs, boogie board, funnoodles, etc.) The beach is approximately 200 yards from the beach. However, there aren't many houses that are closer. It was very convenient and a short walk. The pool was a nice touch, providing a refreshing change to the ocean. While not huge, it was still a very nice thing to have and was well used. The rooftop deck provided a nice place for a morning coffee or evening cocktail. Being above it all was beautiful on clear nights when you can stargaze. For those who don't know, Isle of Palm's convenience to Charleston is an amazing thing. We have little kids, so we enjoyed the change of pace of being able to head to some of the attractions (parks, battleship, museums, etc.) Definitely a great way to do a multi family vacation. All in all, we had a wonderful time and were thoroughly impressed. We do plan on returning at some point in the future. Andrea was a breeze to work with and very helpful before, during and after our rental.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children.

We were pleasantly surprised when we pulled into the drive way of this beautiful beach home: IT WAS EVEN MORE BEAUTIFUL THAN THE PICTURES!!! The gorgeous decor and perfect lay out makes this vacation home ideal. We loved the beautiful colors inside of the home- a true reflection of beach life- with a twist of charleston charm. The pool was perfect for little ones to cool off after the beach. The kitchen was amazing to cook and hang out in. The open floor plan makes the main area a great place for many people to come together. If you are on the fence as to whether or not you should rent this home: DO IT! The owner was very kind and helpful. Thanks for a wonderful week of memories...we will surely come back!!Recommended for: People with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway.

Our family was very pleased with this beach home. We have stayed on IOP and at Wild Dunes many times in the past, and we found this location to be ideal; close to the beach, close to downtown and close to the connector road to the mainland. The property is very well maintained. The kitchen has everything you need to encourage you to eat a lot more than you need to! The owners are very helpful, both before and after the vacation week. We certainly plan to come again.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We stayed in April with a family for their daughter's wedding. The house was perfect in every way. The owners are wonderful to deal with. We had a bridal bruch and the kitchen is spectacular, the rooms well appointed and the roof top was great as was the pool. We enjoyed our stay tremendously and having the elevator was a big plus. Again, I would recommend this house to anyone who wants to enjoy a beautiful time in Charleston and IOP.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers.

We stayed at Avalon By The Sea for two weeks this August. The vacation included our 4 children and our 2 grandmothers. Lots of room to accomodate everyone and an absolutely lovely kitchen that we used for many a delicious dinner. The house has everything you could imagine wanting or needing to make your vacation an absolute success. Beach is a short walk away and the pool provided a lovely respite from the hot August sun. We will be staying 3 weeks next year. Would recommend this house to anyone.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

My family and I stayed at Avalon by the Sea over the holiday week. This house is beautiful! Easy to get to, super close to the beach, I could go on and on. We had plenty of room to spread out and really enjoy the space. The kitchen has everything you could possibly need so don't worry about packing along any dishes or cooking items. Having a pool right outside the main living area made it easy to keep an eye on the kids while cooking dinner. The rooftop deck was a great place to enjoy a drink and look out at the water. The owner provides a pass for the Charleston Parks which is great to take the kids to when you need a break from the beach. We're looking forward to next 4th of July!Recommended for: People with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This home has everything one needs for a one week vacation. Luxuriously appointed with all the dishes, cooking utensils, towels, etc. needed for a large family stay. The owner has taken the trouble to identify each light switch, too. Very nicely furnished with pool access directly from the 2nd floor living room area.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children.

If you're thinking about booking this house, DO IT!!! :) We booked this house for a group of 12 young professionals for a trip to Charleston, and had a wonderful time. The photos are very accurate - if anything, the house was even nicer in person! The house was extremely comfortable and large enough for us to spread out and relax. We ended up spending most of our time at the house, relaxing, cooking, playing games, sitting on the rockers on the rooftop patio and listening to the waves or looking at the stars. The owners were beyond helpful in providing information on the house and answering any questions. They've also put together a binder with information on the area that was very helpful, and put information about the house in places where it's easy to find. The beach is just a few blocks away, and there was plenty of parking at the house for all of our cars. We will definitely book this house for any return trip to Charleston!!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thanks for your kind review. Just want to clarify that we are just over a block from the direct beach access path. You leave our home and walk past a side street and past four homes to Palm Blvd.

I was fortunate to be able to stay 10 days at this lovely home. Just one block from the beach and all the comforts of home plus some. My 83 year old mother was a guest as well and greatly appreciated the elevator as stairs have become diffcult for her. The kitchen contained everything one could need including some great cookbooks. The binder of what to do and what to see left by the homeowner was also very helpful. Charleston was only a 25 minute drive from the house making it a great location for day trips. The suggestion I could possiably make is to add solar heat to the pool. We were at the house in mid May and the beautiful pool was way to cold to swim in. I would come back to stay at this home again any time and the owners were very helpful with any questions we had. The beach area at Isle of Palms is clean and welcoming to children and adults as well. Make sure you bring a chair and umbrella. The rooms in the house are big, cheery and beautifully maintained. This was my first trip to this area of the country and I fell in love. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

My family travelled last May to Charleston for a family wedding from California with 3 children ages 4, 2 and under 1. Our plane did not make it and had to land in Atlanta from Dallas. We ended up driving 6 hours through the night for a 23 hour day to make it to the house in time for the rehearsal and wedding. The owners helped us extend our stay to recover, they had someone check in on us and the house to make sure everything was working for us. They even provided a baby chair for our youngest. The house is well located in very short walking distance from a wonderful sand beach. We live at the Beach in Southern California, but were able to grab some amazing photos of our children near the beautiful calm waters of the Isle of Palms. It is a very peaceful and overall private area and the grounds have ample room for our children to play outside. The house was amazing and beautifully decorated, with very current finishings. It was perfect for our family. It even had an elevator in the house which was perfect for bringing a very sleepy child upstairs in a stroller from a fun walk. The internet was easy to connect to so I could answer occasional emails from work. The ocean is visible from the house's top deck. My children were too young to really use the pool, but it was beautiful and they have great door safety features that kept wandering toddlers from getting to it. The bed was very comfortable and the master bath was very relaxing, with a large jetted tub and separate shower. The kitchen and dining area was perfect for our family as well as the bedrooms for our children. My wife researched 20 different homes before selecting this one. Based on the service by the owners and the attention to detail in the craftsmanship of the rental, we made an excellent choice. We look forward to going back to Charleston and visiting family. Additionally, the groom's parents thought it would make an excellent family retreat area as well for when they visit. We found it to have charm, comfort and care (from the owners) for the price we paid.Recommended for: People with disabilities, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This house is absolutely gorgeous! Don't hesitate for a moment to book it!! It has every amenity, is totally comfortable with plenty of space and is beautifully and tastefully decorated. The house itself has beautiful lines architecturally. The pool is amazing because instead of being down one level from the living area it's in the deck right outside your door! We hope to return again soon!!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway.
