The Heart of Boulder — 1 Bedroom Apartment in Victorian Home
Year Purchased: 1999
Why the Owner Chose Boulder
We find this central location to be perfect for walking and biking almost anywhere. The enclosed backyard is next to an historic farm site, which extends the feeling of open space and lushness.
The Unique Benefits at this Townhome
Flat screen TV. Spacious back yard with BBQ Grill. Convenient parking. Contemporary decor.
The bus station — an easy walk to our house directly East on Walnut.
This is my favorite entry to the bike path from our house.
The world's best hardware store. Also in the same plaza is Sunflower market (good price on produce). Great Harvest has great breads.
Owner's Map of Boulder
My husband and I traveled the world together before coming back to Boulder to start a family. We both agree that there's no where else we'd rather be. Living at the edge of the mountains in this vibrant, healthy, active, creative community is perfect for us. We're both self-employed creative professionals — my husband a photographer, and myself a graphic designer. We love applying our creativity and eclectic taste to the design of our home, and hope you'll appreciate the little touches here and there. Our main vocation is enjoying the company of our 1 1/2 year old son, Ulysses. He's truly our joy.

Highly recommend this charming property within walking distance of Boulder's Pearl Street Mall. The deft modern update of this upper story Victorian flat is consistent throughout, and a great deal of consideration has gone into every stylish detail. (On-line photographs are accurate.) All rooms are thoroughly clean, comfortable, well-lit, and outfitted with new furniture and appliances. The on-site hosts are friendly and accessible, and provide many thoughtful amenities including a limited array of kitchen staples and a computer with Internet access that made us feel right at home. Swamp cooler is surprisingly effective against Boulder's late summer heat (though its reach does not quite extend into the bedroom). Highly recommended for the traveler who wishes to enjoy Boulder's fine bike trails and vibrant dining scene; try Mateo at 1837 Pearl Street for a beautiful intimate dinner or The Mediterranean at 1002 Walnut Street for a lively get-together with friends. Locally-owned University Bicycles at 839 Pearl Street is a good choice for bike rentals.
Owner response:A note about the evaporative cooler: when used properly the cool air does reach the bedroom. All windows must be closed except the one in the bedroom, and the fan should be on on to draw the cool air through the apartment.

I came to Boulder for a college football game and stayed five days here. The location is ideal – close to everything (only used car once), yet tucked away from downtown, offering quiet respite. The inside is larger than it appears and the furnishings are top notch. Amy and Erik are so nice and provide a helpful binder of info on Boulder; all their suggestions on restaurants, grocery/liquor stores, hiking and spas were perfect. Great value, too, compared to upscale hotels downtown.

My girlfriend and I stayed in this charming apartment for 3 days and loved it. We found it to be very comfortable and charming. We like cooking together at times and the kitchen was well-equipped, light and airy, belying it's small size. We could easily bike to Whole Foods Market with bike lanes all the way and come back with something yummy to make. We wanted to enjoy biking in the area, and the apartment has a protected area in the back yard where it is easy to lock up bikes. The entry area has good lighting and chairs which make it easy to work on bikes, repair flats, etc. Our other interest was exploring the local dance scene. The living room has a nice sound system and it's easy to clear off the carpet squares to reveal a dance floor! There are some nice dance clubs nearby. I was very interested in the cooling system. It uses water evaporation instead of traditional air conditioning. Very eco-friendly. The bathroom is nicely redecorated with a clawfoot tub and Victorian era furnishings. It smells clean and there is no mustiness. The apartment is very artfully decorated and enjoyable in every way. Erik and Amy are very efficient, helpful and friendly. I would highly recommend this property.

My boyfriend and I had a wonderful time in Amy's home. Located within walking distance of Pearl Street and the Boulder Farmer's Market, we were so happy to be able to explore Boulder on foot or by car (there's parking in front of the house). Every detail was attended to in the apartment, so we were very comfortable. I want to move in!

Thank you Amy and Erik for sharing your sweet home with us. The apt. is beautifully decorated in a tasteful and hip way. The colors, photographs, textiles. You both were so friendly and inviting, and the flowers were a nice touch. The location couldn't be better, close to all the great places on Pearl and around the corner from my favorite coffee shop. We look forward to staying there again. Oh, I almost forgot, the bed is the most comfortable I've ever slept in! Toni DiLeo

In our quest to avoid hotel stays and "touristy" spots when traveling, we look for ways to immerse ourselves in the local culture. When planning a college tour of a few CO schools, we were fortunate enough to find this fabulous apartment through an internet search and booked a 3-night stay! The apartment is bathed in color, cheerful and bright, and our hosts had anticipated our every need, including the sweet little spot for surfing the net while enjoying a lovely view of the Flatirons that will move you to tears. Chock full of interesting original art, photography and books, no doubt a reflection of the owners' creative personal and professional pursuits. They got every detail right...the color, energy, ambiance, and lest we forget, location, location, location. We recommend a stay, without hesitation.

This was our first visit out to Boulder, Colorado. This apartment served as the perfect "home away from home" and far exceeded our expectations. The apartment not only housed the basic necessities that one would need, it also had all the extras: nice selection of teas, spices, tv entertainment center, etc. The apartment was also conveniently located to dowtown, grocery stores, and an easy walk to Mt. Sanitas and other breathtaking trails. We will definitely return here when we return to Boulder.
