Beautiful two-bedroom oceanfront cottage apartment with unbelievable second floor views and next-door to historic Fort Moultrie.

This is the best small vacation spot you'll find. The views from the second floor porch, bedroom and living area are unbelievable. The historic Fort Moultrie property and a large maritime forest extend for over a mile up the beach making for a seemingly deserted island during walks and runs. We have a birds-eye view of every boat that passes through the harbor whether it's a cruise ship, sailing ketch or shrimp boat.

Fishing out front is good and you're almost always guaranteed to see lots of bottle-nose dolphins. Swimming right of the rock jetty is good as we have a gentle slope with small, lapping waves.

You can walk up the beach in the morning to watch the sunrise over the ocean and then sit out front in our Adirondack chairs to see spectacular sunsets over the harbor and the steeples of old Charleston.

Our place is a 100 year-old Southern beach cottage that was built to house Army Corps nurses prior to WWI. While totally updated and in great condition, we've made sure to preserve the old beach cottage charm. It's wonderfully decorated but is all about comfort.

We have lots of books for reading and napping. Much to our chagrin, we also have wireless internet, cable, DVD and an iPod ready CD player. We are literally next door to historic Fort Moultrie that is now a very uncrowded National Park but played an integral role in the Revolutionary War, Civil War, WWI and WWII.

Sullivan's Island is not a tourist town. It is a beautiful and quaint village island. It's mostly made up of full time residents. It is very safe and family friendly. You can bicycle down to the town center for great restaurants with outdoor dining, playgrounds, tennis, basketball, beach volleyball, galleries and a small grocery store. Lots of folks think of Sullivan's Island as "Mayberry by the Sea".

Dear Keith, Just a note to tell you how much we enjoyed our visit at Sullivan's Island in your cottage. The cottage was just perfect for us. It was decorated so well, and equipped with everything we could need. There were so many things to look at inside the cottage, and it was a very comfortable place and good location. And yes, the views! We loved the front porch, its views, and the beach. It was also nice to have the back porch, too! You could stand in the kitchen and still see the ocean. You could lie in bed and see the sun rise and the waves crash. We spent time in Mt. Pleasant with family, but appreciated the cottage so much on our return. I believe we left it in the same good condition as when we arrived. Thanks for everything! Judy and Jeff, Hendersonville, NC

We have already booked for next year! What a wonderful location and the accommodations are clean, bright, comfortable and "low country". It has been 35 years since I last visited Sullivan's and it was every bit as wonderful as I remembered. We enjoyed the local restaurants, seafood market and the Tuesday local farmer's market in Mt. Pleasant. Our host was very knowledgeable and helpful. Thanks for a great time!

This is a terrific unit in a great part of the Island. Very comfortable space in great condition and everything was in order for our arrival. Porch looks out towards the water and a perfect breeze blew for our entire week. Sat out there for hours. Owner is very friendly and accommodating. Definitely plan to return. Thanks again.

We just returned from a week at this picturesque cottage on Sullivan's Island. It was our first trip to Charleston and we love it. Sullivan's Island is a peaceful place off most tourist radar. We loved the front porch and view of Fort Sumter and Charleston across the Cooper River. it was a perfect location to launch our kayaks for trips into the inlet and around to Sullivan Island lighthouse. I already miss my early morning beach walks, the ocean breeze and ship trafic. We visited Fort Sumter, Boone Hall Plantation, shopped in Charleston, enjoy local Gullah fare and rode the waves at Folly Beach. We hope to visit soon.

This property is a charming unit with a fantastic front porch! We went into Charleston only one day of or week because we could not stand to be away from the porch, ocean, and beach. Ship traffic was constant and "ship watching" is one of our very favorite pastimes. The sunrises and sunsets were picture perfect. The landlord is a charming man, well versed in island history and all things local. Poe's restaurant is a great burger. We celebrated our 35th anniversary with dinner at Station 22. The food was very good and presentation was beautiful. We will make plans to return soon. Wondo Seafood market, recommended by our landlord, was an excellent place for fresh seafood.

Owner response: Thank you Cris and Theona. I am blessed to somehow attract the nicest and most interesting guests; this lovely couple from the mountains of Tennessee was no exception. My guests become cherished friends. Everyone seems to fall in love with the views from the porch. Even I never get tired of watching the boats, birds and dolphins from the porch. It's therapeutic.

BEST VACATION of our 29 year marriage!! We’ve been to numerous places for vacations – cruises, Hawaii, and many other beaches but this was the best by far. The views are unbelievable from the bedroom and living room but sitting on the porch and watching the dolphins play and the pelicans dive and just relaxing was the highlight of our stay. There are plenty of things to do in nearby Charleston and we enjoyed many of them as well. Great restaurants and walking thru the historic Market are just some of our favorite things to do. Watching the many shrimp boats and fishing boats as well as the huge barges and cargo ships was great. They seemed close enough to touch but yet you could hardly hear them as they made their way to Charleston. Sitting on the beach, going for walks, collecting shells was wonderful and it seemed as if we had the beach to ourselves. The relaxation and peace we felt there were the healing balm we very much needed after losing my Dad earlier in the year after declining health for several years. Keith was very attentive to our needs and we couldn’t have felt more at home if we were in our actual home! We’ve already booked another week in this piece of paradise.

Yes, I know it is November and this month can bring you just about any kind of weather...which we experienced...two days in the 70s followed by a day of rain, then howling winds...yet, this did not interfere or diminish our stay. Overall this week after Thanksgiving was PERFECT!! I was at times in awe of the picturesque views from the porch, the contentment of just sitting still and having this wonderful place to call home. One of the best decisions we made was not to have a car (having rented a car at the airport for just one day to buy food and beverage for the week). On Sunday we returned the rental and taxied to Mt. P where we picked up 2 bikes at Mike's Bikes...pedaled the 3+ miles to the Island. After the weather glitch...which was still pretty cool to watch from the comforts of indoors...we spent much of the morn on the front porch watching dolphins. PJs until noon is never a bad thing!! This followed by walks (the length of the Island to Breech Inlet) and biking...into Mt. P to Vickery's on Shem Creek, to Isle of Palms for breakfast at Sea Biscuit...all around the Island dreaming of island living. Having lived in the area for 8 years, departing in 2003, my returns have been few...this was my 3rd trip back...twice with my husband. We'll indeed be back sooner than later to this blissful retreat. Keith is just great...always available for suggestions (that's how we learned about the bikes!)...a very gracious host indeed. You won't go wrong staying here...just please leave a week for me and my husband for our return :-)

The ocean breeze was constant, the view mesmerizing (ships continuously passing, sometimes looking like they were so close you could touch them) and the peace wonderful. This is a true days of old beach place with the modern conveniences. We had a great week and this is a wonderful place to stay. Thank you Keith for being a very responsive host. We really enjoyed our stay, and the water bucket for paw washing was great!
