This is a gorgeous four bedroom cottage, (an additional stone cottage houses the 5th bedroom) with a barn and dock at the foot of Grenadier Island, which is at the mouth of the St. Lawrence Seaway and is a part of the Thousand Islands.
All the rooms offer a spectacular view of Lake Ontario and/or Basin Harbor. The house sits on over one thousand acres of private property, on a 1200 acre island great for exclusive adventures. The house itself is on seven acres of lawn.
The house has the charm of an old stone house with the comforts and conveniences of a new home. There is a large master bedroom with a private balcony and ensuite tossed marble bathroom, a bedroom with a queen bed and another with a pair of twin beds and lounge area(including pull out sofa), as well as a bunk room with a loft that sleeps four.
The recently renovated separate stone cottage contains another queen bed. The two other bathrooms are relatively new and tiled in marble as well. The full kitchen hasevery convenience; including a kitchen aide, ice cream maker, warming drawer, and waffle iron.
Grenadier Island is nicknamed "The Paradise of Kings". On the island you can hike, swim (use of a private beach at the head of the island as well as, flat stone beach by the house), boat, bird watch, mountain bike, fish, water ski, tube, and more! (provided with rental are: canoe, 2 kayaks, and sunfish (small sailboat))
If you choose to leave this bit of paradise, then you can go ashore where you can find tennis, golf, shopping, movies, museums, bars, restaurants, etc., or head over to Kingston, Canada which is about 40 minutes away by boat. (It's a bit longer if you take the Ferry from Cape Vincent).
Use of a boat is required to get to and from the island. Boat rental possible with local marina or owner. Additionally, prior arrangements can be made for water taxi, using owner's boat, to and from island if you plan to stay put.
ATV and boat rentals also possible.

Why the Owner Chose Cape Vincent
My family is originally from the area, and the Island has been in the family for over sixty years now. My four kids still love the island; so much that they have cross country skied across the lake to get out there in the dead of winter. There is so much that you can do out there, you will never have enough time to fit it all in... I have tried.
The Unique Benefits at this House
I have just taken up mountain biking on the island, so if you don't want to rent the ATVs, bring your bikes....or just walk
set back about 100 feet from dock, which is in protected harbor (basin harbor)
Was used over a 100 years ago, and has been partially restored with antique desks(original)

We had a wonderful time last week in a fabulous home. So nice and peaceful up there. I could spend all day just sitting on the deck. The sunsets - wow! and going back memorial day weekend!
