If you are looking for a special place to stay that is close to the city of Colorado Springs, please consider the Casita Del Oro (house of gold). The Casita Del Oro, the first home to be built after the original log cabins, is located in the unique and gated community of Canonwood, located three miles through the city park of North Cheyenne Canon and surrounded by USFS lands. The property was originally a homestead and Camp Lavely, a vacation destination at the turn of the century for folks traveling from the east coast to explore the mountains. The original thirteen cabins were built by John Lavely and their lively names were given to the cabins from the first guests that stayed at them.
The immediate area offers numerous single track trails as well as the Gold Camp Trail, a former Railroad bed, for all ages and abilities. This is the ultimate get away without the drive!
The casita has been fully renovated to include, new carpet, an all new bathroom, updated kitchen with a full-size dishwasher and a stackable washer and dryer.
The fireplace is the original made from local stone. Moments away from our sister property #14746, the casita is on a sunny hill with spectacular views.
North Cheyenne Creek runs through the Canonwood community. You can access it in moments by hiking past our sister property #14746, which has five acres. There is no fishing in Canonwood but with a permit, you can fish within the park. |
