Hanalei Moon Beach Cottage - Beachfront with Ocean View
- Minimum stay:N/A
- Internet:Yes
- Pets allowed:No
- Wheel chair accessible:No
Hanalei Moon Beach Cottage is right on the ocean and is walking distance to Hanalei town with restaurants, stores and art galleries, not to mention snorkeling, swimming, and great surf. Our charming beach cottage with great views of the ocean and historic Hanalei pier now can be yours.
Hanalei Valley is home to the largest taro growing area in the state. The flooded fields look like irregularly shaped mirrors reflecting the blue sky and green mountains. A list of our favorite north shore beaches for snorkeling and surfing with directions is in the cottage.
We have a little telescope for viewing the goings on, boats, and aquatic life in the bay. A paperback library, including a Hawaiian section, are part of the cottage. A full kitchen on a small scale allows you to cook your own fresh island fish from the nearby fish market or any of your favorite foods.
Hanalei Bay, 2 sandy miles shaped in a horseshoe facing North, is embraced by the lush North Shore mountains, draped in tropical greens and laced with waterfalls. This is the backdrop to the turquoise and indigo blues of the bay. Whales, turtles and dolphins can be seen. Moon bows and rainbows abound.
Princeville with its 4 golf courses, restaurants, tennis, and health club is only a 5 minute drive. Polo is not much further. Some of the finest beaches in the United States and the world are as close as your front yard and as far away as 15 minutes!
One of the country's most spectacular trails, the Na Pali Coast Trail, is at the end of the road in Haena seven miles away. This trail takes you past points from which you can look up and down the coast line seeing surf and whales into the backs of tropical hanging valleys between points, each with it's own waterfall.
We invite you to share our island home with us. Float on your back while watching the waterfalls... enjoy the aloha our island has to offer. The best rates and the best location, why wait? This is a magical location. I rented this property to celebrate my 50th birthday and was completely charmed. the VRBO description was acurate. The photos on the website represented the house very well. The property was clean on arrival and the owner/manager was very helpful. The house is better than what you see here. It is amazing to walk in to the living room and to be surrounded by the beauty that is Hanalei. Walk from the house to the water in a minute, turn around to look back at the house, and see the waterfalls. The bed is comfortable, the kitchen well stocked, a good selection of TV stations, close to town, the outdoor shower is perfect, it is an easy drive to all the east and north shore sites, and the list of outstanding features goes on. I wish I was there right now. The owners are super easy to work with.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway.

To put this review in perspecitve, this is our 7th trip to Kauai, 5th stay at the north shore, and 3rd time we spent a week in Hanalei. We were married at Princeville overlooking Hanalei 13 years ago, so, other words, this was not our first "rodeo" in Kaui or Hanalei.. Here's my simple review. This place is the PERFECT beach house for a couple. I can't imagine ever staying anywhere else in Hanalei. The house (cottage) is in great condition, the grounds are immaculate, and there's even an outdoor shower with hot water! The north end of the beach has no crowds, and it's so quiet at night you can hear the foam crackle and pop after the waves break. The views of the bay and Princeville are spectacular, and I regularly found myself watching big wave surfers work the reef via the cottage telescope. When we had to jump online, the wireless and cell phone coverage was great. Mahalo to Suzanne, with major THANKS to her husband!Recommended for: Romantic getaway.
Owner response: Mahalo! We are so glad you enjoyed our beach house and appreciate your comments as seasoned Kauai vacationers. I enjoyed meeting you both. We look forward to your return again! And yes, Joe is pretty darned handy!

My wife and I stayed at the Moon Beach Cottage this spring to celebrate our 10th anniversary. It was absolutely perfect. We had wonderful breakfasts each morning on the Lanai, listening to the sound of the waves and watching them crash. We also enjoyed walking the beach, the short drive to the other North-side beaches, and taking walks into town for dinner. A wonderful, charming little cottage.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children.

We had a delightful week-long visit at Hanalei Moon Cottage. Perfect for a family of three. We only wish we could have stayed longer! Not sure if it was the beds or the nightly rain, but we've never slept better away from home. My only suggestion for families with children who don't like sleeping under covers is to hang a mosquito net over the twin bed. We'll definitely be back! We usually vacation on the Big Island but decided to try something new. We spent 5 days at the Cottage January 16-21, 2012 and loved it and the area. Many friends recommended the Poipu area because the weather tends to be better but Hanalei Bay sounded more interesting and we're very glad we made this decision. After a giant, exciting thunderstorm night one, we had mostly beautiful weather. The Cottage is comfortable, just the right configuration for two people. Only wish was that the house was closer to the ocean but we could still hear the waves at night from our bedroom. There is a big lawn between the house and the sand. The kitchen had most everything we needed--except for a coffee grinder and a working can opener. The area is great, just a quick walk or drive to the "downtown" Hanalei Town. Great places to eat, nearby Princeville Foodland supermarket, farmers markets. Too rough to swim on our beach or at Ke'e but we did snorkel at Anini Beach which is not too far away. The booking process was efficient. We would definitely stay here again.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway.
Owner response: A new can opener and coffee grinder are now in the house.

This is the second time my husband and I have stayed at Moon Beach Cottage and it was just as wonderful as we remembered. The location is absolutely amazing.....daily walks on the beach, evening BBQs on the lawn....absolutely the most relaxing vacations we have ever had. We cannot wait to return.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

We had an amazing time on the island and this home was hard to leave! Amazing beach access just seriously steps away and an amazing view of the bay from the lanai and family room made the entire trip great, even in the rain. The house is very well equipt and private. People were friendly in the area and I think it will be hard to find anything better in Hanalei. I think this is the type of property that makes people move from the mainland. We hope to return soon!Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children.
