The house faces west with huge water views and amazing sunsets. The best swimming in the Outer Banks is right off your dock. The water is about 3-4 feet deep at the dock and has a sandy bottom, warm all the time and no need to worry about currents or critters. The Sound is a shallow body of water even 200 yards from the dock and is perfect for kids who love to run and jump off the end.

We are Andy and Laura Deel and are happy you are considering our home for your vacation. Laura is 40 years old, grew up in Northern Virginia and attended Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore,MD. Andy is an engineer and a graduate from VA Tech.We live with our dog Shelly in Kill Devil Hills and would love to assist you in planning your dream vacation or small private events.

We spent many wonderful summers in the Outer Banks. The natural beauty of the beaches and a true sense of community are just a few of the reasons that we have made the Outer Banks home for 12 years. Our home is in one of the best kept secret spots on the beach. Located on a quiet street with no through traffic, the home has the privacy and serene feel of being away from the hustle and bustle of a resort area yet is only a 5-10 minute drive to the beaches, restaurants and activities of Southern Shores, Duck and Kitty Hawk.
The Unique Benefits of this House
One of a kind home on the Albemarle Sound with west facing views over open water. Guests can enjoy sunsets from your private dock and some of the best swimming the Outer Banks has to offer. The Sound is your playground.Relax in the hammock and watch the kids can play safely all day in the water as it is about 3-4 feet deep from the end of the dock to at least 200 yards out. I have 2 kayaks for your use and the sandy bottom of the Sound can usually be seen as the water is exceptionally clean and clear.

Aside from a few glitches early on....(a leaky ceiling, commode overflow and a broken fence in the yard where we wanted to secure our German Shepherd ) our month long stay was pleasant and relaxing. The plumbing issues were immediately addressed and repaired. The fence took more time, but I can imagine that recovering from a hurricane is no picnic. Dan repaired it as quickly as he could. Laura and Dan extended a generous offer to us by telling us we could tack on a little time after the initial departure date which was very considerate. The breathtaking view of the sunsets and the Sound were truly unbeatable. It is obvious why one would choose this location for a wedding ceremony...very romantic and colorful! Laura and Dan generously provided us with nostalgic Christmas decorations to make the house more festive for the Holidays. Each evening we enjoyed a warm and cozy fire in the comfortable living room. We took advantage of our 4-wheel drive truck and ventured off into the dunes of Corova (strictly a 4-wheel drive area as there are no roads!) What fun we had playing hide and seek with the wild horses! Thank you, Dan, for that great recommendation! Also enjoyed exploring the quiet (off-season) towns of Corolla, Duck ,Rehobeth, etc. I am sure there is much more "action" in the summertime, but we were looking for a quiet, cozy and relaxing place to spend our month of December. We wanted a place to be together with our adult children,our granddaughter and our 2 furry family members that was in sight of the water and had a yard to play. This place was exactly what we wanted. We spent alot of time playing cards at the table in sight of the water and the beautiful back yard lit up at night. We will definitely go back! Laura was wonderful to work with!
Owner response:I love hearing from families who have vacationed in my home. The back gardens overlooking the Sound are beautiful during the day, but its really at night with all the soft lighting in the trees that makes it extra special.

An absolutely charming home! Outfitted with every necessity for a relaxing, tranquil vacation. We had 8 teens/adults (kids ages were 14-22) - everyone agreed this was the most fun we've ever had! Fishing, crabbing, swimming, sunning, kayaking - not one video game in sight! Sitting in the hammock while star-gazing and remarkable sunsets were the most memorable. Comfortable sleeping, two full-size refrigerators, laundry...everything was perfect! Truly a home-away-from-home kind of place. Go to reconnect with family...we're hopefully doing it again this summer!

If you’re looking for a great house on a quiet side street that’s still close to conveniences, this is the place. The décor is quite unique and obviously done by a loving hand and although you’re staying in someone else’s house, it feels like home. The back yard goes right to the sound and the fishing while we were there was great. We enjoyed our stay very much and would recommend this house to anyone. Thanks Laura!

We had a great week at Laura's house. The yard and water views are outstanding and the house is gorgeous. The hardest challenge is leaving the ultra-comfortable furniture to walk outside to see the wonderful sunsets. Great place for R&R!

We had the pleasure of spending a week at this rental and enjoyed it very much. It is close to everything yet set apart from the crowds. The house was very welcoming and we felt right at home. We would certainly recommend staying here and would stay here again. The view from the master bedroom is the best and the nightly sunsets are certainly ones to remember forever. Be sure to get a Cosmos pizza!
