- Fort Myers Beach is actually Estero Island, a seven mile island that is not attached to Fort Myers City. Powder white sand beaches span the Gulf of Mexico shore. There is a free public boat ramp just south of the island on Lovers Key. Restaurants and shops dot both sides of Estero Boulevard. There are 2 large supermarkets, a Publix and a Topps on the island. Just northwest of Estero Island are Sanibel and Captiva Islands. A half hour drive south takes you to Naples for elegant dining and lavish shopping. The largest mall in the US and several factory outlets are within a half hour drive. As a friend recently told me,'Why go anywhere else? Estero Island has it all: dining, boating, beach walks and shopping!' See our virtual tour for a 360 degree tour of the home and the beach!...moreless

Great visit to the west coast
Great visit to the west coast
My family and I decided to take a last minute trip to the West coast and came across this listing. My conversations with the homeowner and agent went extremely well and they answered all of my questions immediately. The home was well kept and clean and fulfilled every expectation I had. It had the dock for fishing, was in walking distance to the beach and only a short drive to the boardwalk. I will definitely stay at this property again if it is available.

Owner response: As always, we try to please. We are very pleased that people are happy with our service. I am sending this review to my rental agents, so they know that they are doing a good job.
Loved this home ! The living room/kitchen area was so spacious and it was great to have 3 bathrooms. Diane was great to work with. Any little concern/issue we had, she dealt with ASAP. Reading the other reviews, I wasn't aware that vacation rentals would provide all the toilet paper needed for a month. We've always provided our own in the homes we've rented. So kudos to you if you supply that too. Thank you for sharing your home with us.

Owner response: Thank you, so much, for your review. We hope to please and make your vacation as great as it can be. We love Fort Myers Beach and think that it the best beach anywhere. I am so glad you enjoyed your stay.
The house was very nice.Pool was nice. The listing was not quite clear on the actual access of the pool. The house was very clean and the property was well maintained. Was unaware that we had to provide extra toilet paper and there was a limit to the amt of laundry. Now that I know these things I would still recommend this property to anyone who wanted a very nice place to stay and be close to all the restaurants and attractions.

Owner response: I have contacted the cleaning company and am now assurred that there are adequate toilet paper and cleaning products in the house when guests arrive. The limited laundry only applies to the amount of linens left to wash upon the guests' departure. That is limited to 2 loads as there is only a 5 hour time period between the 10 AM departure and the 3PM arrival time for guests. Guests have unlimited use of the laundry room every day during their stay. I am not quite sure what the guest meant by access to the pool. We have a stilt home; the living area is on the upper level and the pool is on the ground level, The pool is fenced with gates on both sides. Again, I would appreciate any concerns that guests may have, so that I can remedy them during their stay.
Beautiful House and Perfect Location
Beautiful House and Perfect Location
The house was wonderful, it met our needs in every way and exceeded our expectations. The house was clean, close to the beach and close to shopping. The pool was awesome. We are already making plans to return next year!

Owner response: This is the kind of review we try to get. We hope to make everything very comfortable for our guests. Thank you for your comments! P. S. These guests stayed in February, 2013.
House was nice except for: Their were little tiny ants inside on countertops, bathroom sinks, etc. Freezer ices up on bottom shelf. House needs a good cleaning. Moldings, light fixtures, things like that. Location was great. Pool was great. Fun to watch the different birds coming to the canal to fish. Having the Outriggers across the street was a great place to watch the sunsets. The beach is wonderful and close. Publix food store was close. Good shopping in the Santini mall close to the house. Great places to eat all meals. We had great weather. Having separate bathrooms was great.

Owner response: I am quite confused about this review. Even though I use a rental company for the management of my home, I encourage guests to contact me personally if there are any problems, or if I can do anything to make their stay more comfortable. If you read the review that was posted on January 21st, you'll see that the guest who stayed for January 7th to the 14th wrote that the house was immaculate. All the carpeting was professionally cleaned during the week that the house was unoccupied. This guest checked-in on January 21st and reported the ants to the rental agency on the 26th. Terminex serviced the house on the 27th. This guest did not question the cleanliness of the house during their 3 week stay until they departed on February 11th. I strive to make every guest comfortable and welcome in my home. If there is anything I can do, please contact me, so I can achieve that goal.
Better than I expected
Better than I expected
I will have to say that this property has it all. It was immaculate, every imaginable necessity was met, and then some. The only issue that might be difficult for older people is the stairs that you must climb to reach the front door. But I found the whole experience wonderful. I would recommend this property highly. Great time had by all!
Great time had by all!
We enjoyed our stay in early March. There were 6 adults, 1 child and one small dog. The house easily accomodated all of us. The description was very accurate as were the photos. The beach was a 5 min walk away. Groceries were a 5 min drive away. Traffic was horrendous as is usual during 'in-season' on Ft Myers but we expected it. Any traveling we did was early in the morning or after dinner hour. The trolley was a long wait and long ride into town for dinner but coming home was quick. The Tiki Bar across the street at the Outrigger was a great place for sunsets and a quick dinner. Our only problem was the pool was very cool but someone came and quickly fixed it (apparently the level was too low so the heater wouldn't go on). Lots of space outdoors and inside. We loved it and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone.

Just returned from spending a week at the house. This was our second year we stayed at this house. It is everything that the listing shows & descripes. Our stay was enjoyed by three couples. It is really nice to have the three bedrooms & seperate baths. All the bedrooms & baths are very nice & roomy. The house if very roomy & relaxing. Everything is very clean & well cared for. All the electronics work just fine. Booking agent is excellent to work with. Kitchen is well stocked with all the cooking utensils you could need, although excellent dining at several places is just a short walk away. It is a must to enjoy the sunsets from the Tiki Bar at Outrigger Motel. We accessed the beach through the Outrigger, just a short walk from the house. Able to rent cabannas right there. The Trolley stop is at the street corner the house is on, which can take you anywhere up & down the beach. We did rent a boat for one day this stay. It was really neat to be able to drive the boat right up the canal access behind the house. Can't say enough about how wonderful the house, beach, & everything is around the area. We definately plan on returning.

About the owner: I am a retired teacher from Northeastern Ohio. My husband and I enjoy sailing and cruising on the Great Lakes in the summer and boating on the Gulf and walking on the wonderful beach in the winter.
Why the Owner Chose Private Homes, South Island:
We, originally, shared a family condo in Bonita Springs and drove to the beach from there. We thought 'Why drive, let's go to the best beach in the world!' We built our home as a future retirement residence. We decided to rent it when we realized that we could rent it year-round when we were not vacationing. We love it there and hope you will as well.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
We enjoy walking on the beach and boating on the Gulf of Mexico. We can walk to all sorts of dining and entertainment. If we don't want to walk, there's a trolley stop right at the end of our street which runs the distance of the entire island into Fort Myersand Bonita Springs.
