This canal home has been recently updated with a new kitchen featuring granite countertops and an island dining area. The open floor plan overlooks a heated pool, a dock and the canal that accesses into The Gulf of Mexico.
All three bedrooms have individual in suite baths. The master suite has a separate entry to the deck that overlooks the pool and the canal.The Great Room has a high definition TV with Comcast On-Demand and an entertainment system with surround sound. Wireless internet is available in the entire house (and pool area!)
The home is 200 yards from one of the widest points of beach on Fort Myers Beach. (See our virtual tour for a 360 degree tour of the beach.) If you are familiar with the Outrigger Tiki Hut Bar, the home is directly on the opposite side of Estero Boulevard. Curlew Street is between the Dinner Movie Theater and Charley's Boathouse Restaurant.

- Fort Myers Beach is actually Estero Island, a seven mile island that is not attached to Fort Myers City. Powder white sand beaches span the Gulf of Mexico shore. There is a free public boat ramp just south of the island on Lovers Key. Restaurants and shops dot both sides of Estero Boulevard. There are 2 large supermarkets, a Publix and a Topps on the island. Just northwest of Estero Island are Sanibel and Captiva Islands. A half hour drive south takes you to Naples for elegant dining and lavish shopping. The largest mall in the US and several factory outlets are within a half hour drive.As a friend recently told me,"Why go anywhere else? Why the Owner Chose Private Homes, South Island
We, originally, shared a family condo in Bonita Springs and drove to the beach from there. We thought "Why drive, let's go to the best beach in the world!" We built our home as a future retirement residence. We decided to rent it when we realized that we could rent it year-round when we were not vacationing. We love it there and hope you will as well.
The Unique Benefits at this House
We enjoy walking on the beach and boating on the Gulf of Mexico. We can walk to all sorts of dining and entertainment. If we don't want to walk, there's a trolley stop right at the end of our street which runs the distance of the entire island into Fort Myersand Bonita Springs.
Enjoy current movies while dining on a delicious snack and a beverage.
Many shops and restaurants are here. There is a hardware store,a drugstore and a post office. Fish Tale Marina is located here.
Entertainment every night in the lounge and great dining and beach watching at the open air Pincher's Crab Shack.
A great salad bar accompanies your dinner of steak, fish, pork or chicken.

I will have to say that this property has it all. It was immaculate, every imaginable necessity was met, and then some. The only issue that might be difficult for older people is the stairs that you must climb to reach the front door. But I found the whole experience wonderful. I would recommend this property highly. We enjoyed our stay in early March. There were 6 adults, 1 child and one small dog. The house easily accomodated all of us. The description was very accurate as were the photos. The beach was a 5 min walk away. Groceries were a 5 min drive away. Traffic was horrendous as is usual during 'in-season' on Ft Myers but we expected it. Any traveling we did was early in the morning or after dinner hour. The trolley was a long wait and long ride into town for dinner but coming home was quick. The Tiki Bar across the street at the Outrigger was a great place for sunsets and a quick dinner. Our only problem was the pool was very cool but someone came and quickly fixed it (apparently the level was too low so the heater wouldn't go on). Lots of space outdoors and inside. We loved it and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone.
Recommended for:Tourists without a car, pet owners, girls getaway, age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers.

Just returned from spending a week at the house. This was our second year we stayed at this house. It is everything that the listing shows & descripes. Our stay was enjoyed by three couples. It is really nice to have the three bedrooms & seperate baths. All the bedrooms & baths are very nice & roomy. The house if very roomy & relaxing. Everything is very clean & well cared for. All the electronics work just fine. Booking agent is excellent to work with. Kitchen is well stocked with all the cooking utensils you could need, although excellent dining at several places is just a short walk away. It is a must to enjoy the sunsets from the Tiki Bar at Outrigger Motel. We accessed the beach through the Outrigger, just a short walk from the house. Able to rent cabannas right there. The Trolley stop is at the street corner the house is on, which can take you anywhere up & down the beach. We did rent a boat for one day this stay. It was really neat to be able to drive the boat right up the canal access behind the house. Can't say enough about how wonderful the house, beach, & everything is around the area. We definately plan on returning.
