Skylights and 8' sliders which open to a large deck bathe the living area with light, ocean air and views to a spacious, private yard. A large bedroom/playroom with it's own bath on the ground level provides a separate area for sleeping and activities. Use our beach chairs and umbrella while you enjoy sun and fun on miles of ocean beach and fresh-water/salt-water ponds, just minutes away. Or visit Ninigret Park, also in Charlestown, which offers a fresh-water pond with a lifeguard for young children, walking trails, picnic areas, basketball and tennis courts and an observatory to see the night sky through a telescope.
Spring, Summer and Autumn are all great for visiting Mystic Village, Seaport and Aquarium, Foxwoods Casino, Newport Mansions, village and restaurants. Walk through the historic town of Wickford and explore antique stores and galleries. Don't miss the Umbrella Factory gardens and shops for a unique experience in shopping. Take a ferry to Block Island and stop in Galilee to pick up fresh seafood right off the boat. Dining choices are many, from casual, al fresco, to fine dining.
Summer sports abound with swimming, surfing, fishing, kayaking, sailing, motor-boating and the best flat water and ocean canoeing in Rhode Island just minutes away. Practice your swing at the public golf range to get ready for playing one of the 7 golf courses located close by. Owner Description
We are Lauren and Howard and we love the outdoors. We've lived and worked in CT for most of our lives, but our vacation and family playtime has been primarily in Charlestown, where 5 generations of our family have shared many wonderful, memorable experiences. We enjoy walking the beaches, clamming, kayaking, sailing and motoring in the ponds, and visiting local area points of interest. Most of all it's the place we feel at home and enjoy sharing with family and friends.
Why the Owner Chose Charlestown
Spending vacation time in Charlestown has been part of our family tradition since the 1920's. Since then, my grandparents and their children, then ourselves and our children and friends have created many fond memories here. It's the perfect place for family gatherings, picnics on the beach, fishing, sailing, beach-combing, kayaking, clamming and just plain for the pure joy of being in beautiful, natural setting, relax and renew the soul. Charlestown has changed and grown over the years, but still has kept it's informal rural character and offers an opportunity to experience the natural treasures around us while being within easy distance to entertainment, museums, unique galleries and funky little shops and historical landmarks.
