We booked a few nights at the Random Scoots in October 2009. My husband, my parents and I were driving from Nova Scotia to Toronto and decided to go through the U.S. for the beautiful autumn scenery. It was perfect! This lodge is such a wonderful place. Pure relaxation, coziness and ultimate outdoor heaven. There's a fireplace inside (incase you have bad weather) and the interior design is just so cozy and quaint. We all absolutely loved it. The bedrooms are both very good sizes with very comfortable beds. We loved being able to build a fire outside and sit there for hours enjoying wine and beer. It was lovely in the autumn and I'm sure it would be lovely at every time of year. You probably don't NEED a car but I would recommend one. We drove to Lake Placid which is not far away and it is a lovely town. WE CANNOT WAIT TO GO BACK!!

Random Scoots and Cascade (16Feb09): Random Scooter's cabin and Cascade Mt. all in one weekend. Does it get any better than that. I took my wife up to Keene to stay for the weekend at Random Scoots and we thought we would hit a peak on Saturday. It was her first trip to the Adirondacks and my second. The day was wonderfully sunny and temps in the low 20's. We started from the parking area at 8AM and reached the summit around 10:30. The trail was well packed and we wore snowshoes up to the summit rocks. The summit was amazing! My wife having never been on a windy summit before felt pretty vulnerable but was very excited. We descended back to the car with an arrival time of 12pm. If you have never stayed at the Random Scoots cabin, you're missing out. It was very warm and cozy with EVERYTHING one might need or want. Random Scoots is a wonderful place! We had a terrific time; spent Christmas in the cabin, went for a hike, then came back and cooked a fabulous Christmas dinner right there in the cabin! We wish we could have stayed longer, but we will definitely be back very soon! The new enclosed porch was a godsend and we can't wait to see it finished! Tom is a very attentive and accommodating host, and he was sincerely interested in our comfort at his property. Forty-six stars for Random Scoots!

We stayed at Random Scoots in early October and had a wonderful time. We travelled across Lake Champlain on the sunset ferry and so arrived in the dark; in the morning sunrise the next morning we realised what a beautiful location we were in. The cottage is large, warm, comfortable and well-furnished. We found it was the perfect base from which to explore all the Adirondacks have to offer. We left entirely refreshed and relaxed. We just wish it was a bit closer to home!

Random Scoots cabin is a great place to relax and rejuvenate! Excellent location, convenient to all sorts of outdoor activities. Spacious cabin, beautiful grounds, awesome views, great host! We loved the firepit, used it every night; it was a great place to relax and reminisce about the day's activities.

We are very active retired folks and what a great place to spend a few days in the high peaks! The cabin is very clean and very well equipped with lots of places to store all your gear in all seasons. Excellent kitchen and comfy beds, and the washer and dryer is so handy. Tom is a great host and boy does he have experience on the "peaks". Last trip we hiked and paddled and next winter we're going up for some skiing and snowshoeing. GO TO RANDOM SCOOTS - YOU'LL LOVE IT!!!

Thank you for a wonderful week-long vacation. Your cabin is just perfect. The location, removed from the town and roadway yet very accessible with the views of Hurricane Mtn. is the very best I've seen in the Adirondacks after years of visiting the region. The cabin is spotlessly clean and very functional. The washer/dryer was greatly appreciated after a day of hiking as was the comfortable bed. Friendly and helpful owner obviously knows the region intimately and advised us on hiking trails, parking areas and views. 5 very enthusiastic stars from a guest who will be returning often.

We've been away from Random Scoots for a few hours and already we miss it and really appreciate the week we had there. The cabin is beautiful and comfortable. The grounds are picturesque and well maintained. The host is gracious and helpful. And the area is just spectacular. The best bang for my buck in a long time. We can't wait to return! Thank you!

This place is heaven - absolutely perfect in every way. The views are great, the cabin amazing, the beds comfy, and the library of Adirondack and hiking books is a great bonus. We'll be back for sure.

We greatly enjoyed our stay at Random Scoots Cabin. Invited our friends to stay with us, and they loved it, too. It's an ideal location for exploring the High Peaks region, but with all the comforts of home. The cabin has lots of nice features, like a small library of books about the Adirondacks (guidebooks, history, etc.) Just visited a couple weeks ago, and we're already trying to figure out when we can make it back!

As an avid outdoorsman I highly recommend this place. Friendly owner, beautiful setting, incredible rates. The cabin is clean and cozy and the beds are comfortable, which is important to me after a day of hiking. Also, it's nice to have the choice between going out for dinner and cooking at "home". Thumbs up!
