CHACALA
o Located on the Mexican Riviera 5 miles off Highway Mex200, <90 minutes drive north of Puerto Vallarta, and 45 minutes north of SAYULITA
o Was a sleepy fishing community until 2002, when a paved road was installed by the Government to/from Highway 200
o Now becoming a little known get-away destination, primarily for well-to-do Mexican Nationals and Canadian Snowbirds
o Quaint – Beautiful – Sunny – and Warm year round with temperatures between the 70’s and the 80’s, with evenings in the 60’s.
o Normal airport arrival is Puerto Vallarta, then a rental car, taxi, or bus brings you to the village of Chacala

o Cambiando Vidas – helps local students with partial scholarships, academic support, and social skill building. Public schools are not free. o Chacala Library – built by Rotary U.S. and Rotary Intl. six years ago, a brilliant example of how to build and implement a community service previously un-fathomable in Chacala
o Chacala Kinder (garten) – if you are coming to Chacala, you might consider bringing some school supplies/play equipment/games for the children (the children do not speak English, so English reading materials are not particularly useful for this age group)

o Majahua day spa, and gourmet restaurant) – incredible spa and massages, call for reservations
o Chacala Tourist Co-op – offers boat rides, fishing trips, whale/dolphin watching, and exploring isolated beaches. At least 2 members of the co-op each with their own boat are available all day, every day
