A private sandy beach and beautiful sunsets will help you relax on your Northern Michigan vacation. Enjoy fishing off the sixty foot dock for perch, small mouth bass and bluegills. Use of a row boat is included and extra bumpers on the dock could accommodate your own personal water craft.
This 1200 square foot cabin is located on the North East side of Otsego Lake. The lake itself is five miles long. State and county parks located on the South side of the lake both offer play sets for children and concessions.
Our beautiful cottage has 3 bedrooms. A large master bedroom is located upstairs with its own air conditioner to keep you nice and cool. The second bedroom has two sets of bunk beds, which makes it extra fun for the kids. The half bedroom is ideal for storing any beach equipment or any other items you would like to store. The main floor is also nice and cozy with three sky lights and a second air conditioner unit which keeps the temperature perfect inside, and outside there is always a refreshing breeze being on the east side of the lake.
Downtown Gaylord is only three miles away and is perfect for sight seeing and shopping. If you enjoy biking, Gaylord has two extremely well maintained bike trails to offer you. One trail, Aspen Park, is only a couple of minutes away and winds through the woods by an elk viewing area. This trail is approximately 3 miles long and it is perfect for a family bike ride, walk, or jog. Rails to Trails is also a popular and only five minutes away. It starts in Gaylord and goes all the way up to the Mackinac Bridge in Mackinaw City. This country setting trail is also paved and goes through tunnels, under bridges, and over rivers too.
In the fall season, the view is spectacular around the lake with gorgeous sunsets across the lake. There are also numerous apple and pumpkin orchards in the area (approximately 45 minutes away), which are fun for the whole family. One local apple orchard designs a huge corn maze which is fun for all ages. Two years ago the maze was a T-rex that was 10 acres in size, and last year they had a picture of a farm with farm animals too. In addition, the fishing on Otsego Lake is always good, but in late fall the Walleye fishing is phenominal (hot spots to be given at check-in time).
For the winter season, we are only minutes away from a couple of downhill ski resorts (Treetops and Otsego Club). If you're looking for a bigger mountain to ski down, we are twenty minutes away from Boyne Mountain. Boyne Mountain also has a huge indoor waterpark called "Avalanche Bay".

Year Purchased: 2004
We are both teachers and bought our Otsego Lake Cottage because we love the water and our children love tubing, fishing, kayaking, and playing in the sand. We look forward to spending time at our Lake Cottage whenever possible in the summer.
Why the Owner Chose Gaylord
We decided to buy the Lake Cottage because it is close to our home, we live and teach in Gaylord. We love the sandy beach, the peaceful sunsets, and the great fishing off the dock. This is a convenient spot for us, and the area is surrounded by bike trails, golf courses, and many other lakes and streams.
The Unique Benefits of this Cabin
We enjoy the early morning fishing with our warm cup of coffee and hot chocolate for the kids. We also have fun kayaking, and tubing on Otsego Lake. The kids have so many memories of our time spent at the cottage...the late night bon fires and smores are the best. All of our kids fish and love catching them!
