This charming cottage is located down a quiet, two lane, black top country road. It is located on a beautiful oak studded parcel and just a 10 minute drive from downtown Calistoga. The cottage shares the land with a main residence and a custom woodworking shop but has it’s own, private views of an extensive garden, forest, grass glades, vineyards and ridges that are nearby and miles away. Once inside you will experience plush comfort, remarkable views and splendid isolation during the day ... while at night stars, crickets and the eyes of an occasional deer or raccoon passing by will be your only interruption.
The cottage is impeccably maintained and features many touches of craftsmanship and style. The 700 square footprint is perfect for a couple wanting to live away for a while, relaxed, with everything necessary at hand. There is a covered porch with chairs, sculpted brackets and a birdhouse collection forming the entryway. Open the wood framed glass door and you are in the living area with it’s oriental rugs, deep-cushioned leather sofas, pillows, custom tables, soft lighting, fine art photography and cabinetry. All woodwork in the cottage is fashioned from varnished hardwoods. Double insulation, ceiling fans and an AC/Heat unit provide silent, year round comfort. A closed TV system & movie collection, an eclectic assortment of books and periodicals plus an antique game collection are provided for your entertainment.
A stately ribbon grain mahogany room divider separates the living room from the carpeted sleeping area affording a degree of privacy while allowing the eye to roam. A pillow top queen bed, high count sheets, plush comforters and pillows assure a good nights sleep. Silk curtains, night stands, reading lamps, an antique dresser and a roomy, replica Sears closet complete this cozy, intimate area . Just steps away an Italian tiled bath features an overhead shower and a tub-side window with an unspoiled country view to enjoy while you soak.
Windows fill every wall of the kitchen/dining area and provide an eye opening view of the expansive surroundings. Morning coffee from the dining alcove table can be uncommonly peaceful and satisfying. All appliances, utensils, cook and dinnerware are new in 2008 while the comfortable table and chairs were hand fashioned nearly 35 years ago. With the exception of baking utensils (there's a great bakery in town) pretty much all else is possible in this kitchen. Bring the fixings and cook up a storm.
