The Squirrel House is comfortable, private, lovely, and full of wonderful things - lovely gardens, imaginative and soothing furnishings, impressive woodwork, and great food. It's a very nice place to curl up and in and enjoy - very special.

A Magical Place

A special place offering relaxation, hospitality, privacy and wonderful acres of nature's offerings. Ron and Elizabeth were more than helpful providing us information for our stay, necessities for our lodgings, and knew how to appear when needed and yet respecting our privacy . The 1850's rehabbed barn with it's original beams and spectacular wood plank flooring is a work of old world craftsmanship blended with modern luxury of bath and kitchette, and electronics. This is not a typical B&B, where there are other guests or breakfast offerings. The Squirrel House is ideal for a two people that will enjoy nature, privacy, a great pool, and a setting that encourages conversation and contemplation. It is situated in a location where the area's activities can be easily viewed or paticipated in.....cycling, sightseeing, winery tours, water activities, and unique small towns.Defintely at the top of the list for a return visit!!!

Extraordinary Quarters

It was a long hot summer in Texas, so we decided to go somewhere cool. My wonderful wife searched extensively on the web and finally selected the Squirrel House. Our first walk to the barn was a memorable one. Every plant was unique as was the landscape and topography. It was rewarding to be accompanied by Elisabeth, who had a brief story about anything you asked. The garden was huge and they, (Elisabeth and Ron) knew every inch of it. The barn was beautiful in itself and had interesting stories as well. I could spend an afternoon with these nice people because they have so much to offer. However that didn’t happen because they had work to do and we had a new land to discover. As for the area around Saint Catharines, it was incredible. There were so many wineries and restaurants to explore, and everything was a short drive away. We even went to two plays at the Shaw Festival. The vacation was to see the Falls, but we found so much more and our hosts were so gracious. We sadly left after five days (the first week in August) and couldn’t quit talking about it. You must experience this lovely abode for yourself to truly enjoy it.

Hidden Gem

This place completely exceeded our expectations. The gardens are stunning and the restored barn is amazing! We would've stayed for weeks if we could have. So peaceful, a total escape. Gracious hosts that are very friendly but happy to leave you to just enjoy the surroundings.

Romantic Getaway

My boyfriend and I came here for a 2 night, 3 day getaway before University started again in the fall. It was more wonderful than I could have ever anticipated... the property is truly magical. You are surrounded by farms and vineyards... pear trees.... and such a beautiful garden. The barn was lovely and quaint, very French Country. We went on a wine tour one day, saw Niagara Falls the day before, and relaxed at night. It's conveniently located from the highway, Walmart, and other stores, but you would never guess it. We also rode bikes one day, which they provided. Elisabeth even had fresh local honey, baked bread, milk, butter, cereal, and tea waiting for us. That was totally unexpected and a very pleasant surprise. It's very quiet and dark at night and we were hoping to see stars, but unfortunately it was a bit too cloudy. The only problem we had, if you can even call this a problem... were the very large spiders that looked like scorpions. But that is to be expected in an old home and a large property. Ron and Elisabeth are beautiful people and a very cute couple. There are truly in-love and in-love with life and have a passion for their home. It's a place everyone should see once in their lifetime. We would love to come back if we ever had the chance to! Thank you so much for all of your help!

We really aim to provide a perfectly pristine space for our visitors, barn or not. Please know we would gladly have sprayed anywhere you saw a spider. We have stayed 4 nights at Elisabeth and Ron's beautifully decorated barn and had the perfect start of our Canadian trip here. The owners took as good care of us as they do for their impressive garden. After any trip we have always been looking forward to come back at the barn. We felt home! having a rest in the patio, a swim in the pool and cooking cosy dinner at the barbecue. The location is perfect amid the vine country, close to Niagara Falls and Lake Erie and an hour or so from Toronto. would go back tomorrow!!

A World Away!!

My husband and I stayed a the Squirrel House B&B for 3 days in July for a biking weekend in the Niagara region. We absolutely loved it! It was very private, as we were the only guests, there is not accommodation for more than one group. It is a self catering B&B, so food is provided but you prepare it yourself. The restored barn was amazing, beautiful and immaculately clean. The beds were comfortable, the gardens were a pleasure to stroll through. The pool was lovely, clean and refreshing. Our hosts were friendly but respected our privacy. They were also knowledgeable and helpful with any of our questions. Elizabeth also gave us a wonderful garden tour as she is a master gardener. We will definitely stay here again when we want a special retreat!!

Paradise!!

What a beautiful location. The barn we stayed in was so original and wonderful, unlike any accomadations you can find! We loved the frog pond and the fireflies at night just lit up the gardens. Truly a place to relax and get away from it all, my boyfriend and I have every intention on visiting again. Thanks so much Elisabeth and Ron for being hosts that treat people above and beyond :)

My husband and I just stayed for 2 nights for our 13th wedding anniversary, and when we arrived, we were so delighted to find such a wonderful place. We could not believe our eyes, and ears the birds were singing all the time, which was wonderful. We relaxed so much during our stay. Our hosts were wonderful, made us feel so at home, unlike any other place we stayed at. We got many wonderful gardening tips too, which was amazing. We will be making this a yearly getaway retreat for our anniversary. I truly can describe this place as heaven on earth, no other words to describe it. Gorgeous, beautiful, peaceful. It is truly a place to relax and unwind and get away from the stresses of everyday life. We loved it so much. Thank you Elisabeth and Ron for making our stay a truly memorable life experience. Warm and Wonderful Sanctuary

My parents and I spent two nights at Squirrel House, a wonderful property in Saint Catharines. Every little detail of this lovely historic barn has been restored with great care. The place felt warm and welcoming which made leaving rather difficult. Elisabeth, the owner, could not be more helpful and thoughtful. She helped us with places to visit, things to see and even best ways to get there. I have rented several places through VRBO and by far Elisabeth was a most gracious host from my first contact to the last minutes we were leaving the property. I can’t wait to take my husband there and spend a longer time enjoying the area, as well as this very special place. Thank you Elisabeth and Ron for your help in making our trip so special
