The apartment:
Is stylishly furnished with all the comforts of home, it is the perfect place to relax and unwind after a busy day; watch a movie, enjoy a glass of wine or entertain family or friends in the 950sq ft space inside or the private outdoor BBQ area, It is the perfect inner city retreat.
The building:
The Harrison Modern has 4 wonderful apartments to offer in a quiet, well designed, refurbished, Mid-Century building. For your privacy each unit has a separate entrance; 1111 – 1117 E. Harrison Street. I have lived in the building for 15 years and the neighborhood for 17, I would be happy to give you a local perspective on sightseeing or dining in the neighborhood during your stay.
The location:
Capitol Hill is one of Seattle's most vibrant neighborhoods, with wonderful stately homes, parks, museums, shopping, restaurants, theaters and other attractions all within a short walk from the property.
We have a fantastic location in the heart of this historic neighborhood, within 3 minutes walk you will find a variety of shopping, restaurants, cafes, and 3 supermarkets
We are on the same street as Seattle University and a 5 minute walk from the Pike/Pine Corridor bars, cafes & nightlife. Downtown Seattle is 1 mile from the building as is the Washington State Trade & Convention Center, and the Hospitals on First Hill. The Pike Place Market and the Seattle Space Needle are also easily accessed either on foot or by the extensive bus network that passes 2 blocks from the building on the eclectic Broadway Shopping street. You will LOVE the location!!

We had a wonderful stay at harrison modern apartments. The location could not have been better. In a beautiful neighborhood in the heart of Capitol Hill. Walking distance to downtown and amazing restaurants and coffee shops just outside the door. We will definitely recommend this place to our friends. I frequently visit Seattle and always choose to stay at the Harrison Modern if it's available. The location in Capital Hill is close to everything, walk to bus line, grocery stores, restaurants, downtown. Having stayed in both units I can say both are impeccable! For me the most important thing in renting a house or a hotel room is a good nights sleep, the beds and bedding are VERY comfortable, and the units are spacious and well equipped. AND it's great to have a parking space! Ian is a gracious host. Highly recommend!Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

My boyfriend and I, plus two friends rented at the Harrison Modern for a long weekend in Seattle, we were more than happy with the apartment, our stay was just fantastic! Ian was such a gracious host and made us feel super welcome. We loved the back patio and super nice, clean furnishings. I love cooking and the kitchen was totally equipped with everything I could need, it was so helpful to have all the little things right there. It was also so great to have laundry on site! We have stayed here twice in the past two years and highly recommend it. Capital Hill is a busy and fascinating neighborhood, but the Harrison Modern is a very quiet and peaceful place to stay in the middle of it. The apartment was very clean and well maintained. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, the outside deck a lovely bonus. The owner was easy to work with through the booking process, and quickly available to answer any questions. My week at the Harrison Modern Apartments was perfect! Ian is a wonderful owner and was incredibly patient with my questions as well as courteous and helpful. The apartment itself was stylish, clean, comfortable, perfectly located and filled with extras. There was parking available and the sweetest little patio that included seating and a barbeque. My friends from Austria said it was like being at home only better. The beds were comfortable, there was always hot water, and we had everything we could want or need available. The location is also amazing - you can walk everywhere and there are fabulous stores and restaurants nearby. My only hesitation in writing a review is that anyone who is lucky enough to stay here will want to stay again and then the competition for reservations will be fierce. I will not hesitate to stay here or in any property of Ian's in the future - in fact, I look forward to it. Reserve now - you will not be disappointed.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

This is a wonderful place to stay while in Seattle. The unit is clean and well kept. It is in a nice neighbourhood with lots to explore nearby. There seems to be lots of public transportation, but if you like to walk (like us) both the Space Needle and Pike Place Market are easy walks - coming back is a little tougher as it is up-hill, but that is a good thing to work off those extra treats. Taking a bus back would be an option as well, but our 6yr and 10yr children managed the walking with minimal fuss. Street parking seems to be available at the unit, but I would recommend the parking spot so you now you have a reserved spot (I think there is a 2 hour limit on the street during the day). Overall, we loved this place and will definitely be coming back.Owner response: Hi Dan, Thanks for the great review. Although I'm bummed that Unit 1117 will be unavailable for my return in September, I quite enjoyed my stay for the week in June. The apt really felt like home, and I was comfortable instantly ! The bed is to die for and the kitchen is well-equipped for those times you want a home cooked meal. We went to the Farmer's Market on Sunday as Ian recommended .. not to be missed. Although we were unable to use the grill, the deck is a nice place to sit and watch the sunrise and sunset with a nice glass of wine. See you in September Ian (I better book Unit 1111 soon) .. The Harrison Modern worked out very well for us. The location in the Capitol Hill neighborhood is both convenient to downtown Seattle and is well situated relative to restaurants and grocery stores. We really appreciated your restaurant recommendations. Jamjuree on 15th was terrific--the best Thai fooe we've had and with very reasonable prices. Table 219 (now Americana) for breakfast was also exceptional. And we tried to go to Barrio, but weren’t able to get a reservation--next time we'll plan ahead. The apartment worked very well with plenty of room for four people. The kitchen was well stocked, everything worked worked well.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children.

It's always nice to have the comforts of home on vacation, while still being able to take advantage of everything your destination has to offer. The Harrison Modern scores high on both counts. The apartment was very comfortable for us and our three-year-old son. Being able to cook and do laundry on-site was a real convenience. The Capitol Hill neighborhood is great, with plenty to do and see within easy walking distance. And downtown Seattle, with all its attractions, is also an easy walk from the Harrison Modern. If you need to go further out, there's quick access to the city's buses and trains. One of Seattle's real strengths as a city is its walkability, and the Harrison Modern's location really lets you experience that, without venturing too far from your "home away from home." All in all, it was a great place to stay and I would recommend it to anyone without hesitation.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children.

Cancellation policy:
Please review our conditions and cancellation policy and reply, via e-mail, that you agree to them: I certify I am 25 years of age or older. I (We), the confirmed guest, renting 1117 East Harrison Street, Seattle, WA for vacation or recreation purposes agree to the following: 1. I (We) are responsible for full payment of the entire rental period at time of booking. Payment can be made using either Visa or Master card. 2. The reservation is not confirmed until the total amount due has cleared. 3. Failure to make payment when due will result in cancellation of this agreement. 4. Once confirmed, if I (We) cancel prior to 30 days of the reservation, the owner will make every attempt to rebook the unit. If the ownership is able to rebook the unit at the same rate, I (We) will be refunded the Total funds paid minus a $75 transaction fee. Within 30 days of arrival if the reservation cannot be re-booked I (We) understand that the moneys paid may not be returned. 5. I (We) agree to accept the rental property upon arrival, provided it meets the basic description as listed on the Rental Web sites. In addition, I (We) agree that we will not be entitled to a refund or rent money, nor relocation to another property, and will have no claim or recourse against the Owner, Property Management etc. 6. I (We) our guests and visitors agree to not smoke or use illegal drugs in the apartment or on the premises. I (We) understand that this includes but is not limited to opening a window and blowing the smoke outside. If any smoking or drug use is detected in the unit or anywhere within the building, I (We) understand that there will be a $250.00 fine charged to the credit card used at the time of booking in addition to any professional cleaning costs accrued to get rid of the smell in the furniture and linens. 7. I (We) our guests and visitors agree not to bring any pesticides, cleaning products, and aerosol sanitizes, incense, air fragrances etc. onto the property. In the event that cleaning supplies are needed I (We) will contact the Owner and request delivery of said items. 8. I (We) our guests and visitors understand that while the Ownership expect tenants to enjoy the company of guests, the apartment is not rented out for parties nor can it be used as a place of commerce. Large numbers of people coming and going from the apartment and/or excessive noise will result in immediate eviction. Any disturbance, annoyance, endangerment or inconvenience of the neighbors or long term tenants or the use of the premises for illegal activities will result in immediate eviction with no refund due. Occupancy (including small children, infants and visitors) is not to exceed 5 persons without prior permission from the Ownership. If more than the maximum number is found to be occupying the leased property I (We) agree that a charge of $75.00 per person will be made to my (our) credit card. Additionally this Agreement may be immediately terminated without refund. No parties are allowed. 9. Licensed Aid & Seeing Eye Dogs will be allowed with pre approval only. If any evidence of unauthorized animals is found or detected I (We) agree that a charge of $50.00 will be made to my (our) credit card and I (We) will be evicted immediately with no refund due in addition to the $50.00 fine. 10. I (We) shall be responsible for all damage, breakage and/or loss to the Premises except normal wear and tear and unavoidable casualties (deemed by Ownership)which may result from Occupancy. I (We) agree that all pipes, wires, glass, plumbing, household contents and other equipment and fixtures will be left in the same condition as at the beginning of our stay. I (We) agree that repair costs for any damaged items may be posted to my (our) credit card. 11. Prior to vacating the unit I (We) understand that it is the responsibility of the tenant to return any furniture that was moved to its original position. All cleaning will be completed by the owner. 12. Owner shall not be liable to Tenant, Tenants guests, licensees or Invitees or any other person for any injury, loss or damage to any person or property on or about the premises. Tenant shall hold Owner harmless and indemnified from and against all loss, injury or damage occasioned by the use or misuse or abuse of any part of the premises, parking lot and back yard and from or against any omission, neglect, or default of Tenant, his/her guests, licensees or invitees. 13. This agreement may not be reassigned or the property sublet and is for the Tenants use only. No changes to, or changing of locks of the building/units are permitted. If the keys to the building/unit are not turned in at the time of check out or lost during occupancy, I (We) acknowledge that a $75.00 charge will be made to my (our) credit card in order to re-key the unit. 14. As you are aware you have been charged a minimal cleaning fee for your stay. This is on the condition that you leave the apartment in “reasonable” condition when you check-out. Reasonable condition means that dishes are cleaned and put away, if furniture is moved it is returned to it’s original position, etc. If the condition of the apartment is deemed unacceptable by our house keepers a cleaning fee will be charged to your credit card, this fee will be $50.00 or in an extreme case $100.00. I (We) agree to pay the additional cleaning fee if I leave the apartment in an unacceptable state.

About the owner: I have owned and lived in the Harrison Modern since 1997. I have a passion for architecture and interior design, you will see this in every aspect of the building. Originally born in New Zealand, I have traveled the world and the US extensively, I believe that Seattle is one of the most beautiful cities on the planet. My back ground is in Tourism Marketing, I worked for the New Zealand Tourism Board in Los Angles for 8 years before moving to Seattle in 1994. I have a love of travel and new experiences - Whenever I away I always stay at vacation apartments, as you get a real feel for the destination you are visiting.
Why the Owner Chose Capitol Hill:
Seattle is a vibrant city full of amazing sights from world class architecture, vibrant arts scene, to spectacular outdoor activities. Capitol Hill, is the perfect location to explore all Seattle and everything the region has to offer. If you are not traveling outside the city you won't need a car, everything is within an easy walk or a short bus ride. Within 3 short blocks of the building are a a number of great restaurants, shops and cafes, 2 supermarkets and 3 wonderful city parks. Capitol Hill is a rich, diverse, neighborhood with multi million mansions and a wonderful farmers market within blocks of each other. One thing I am sure about... You will love the location. I have done a lot of traveling and believe that Seattle and the Pacific North West is one of the most beautiful, livable, areas in the North America.
