Ideal for couples or small families who desire to visit this beautiful part of the Provence. You will find this perfectly renovated little Provencal Town house sitting on the corner of a peaceful square in the old Town of Entraigues-sur-la-Sorgue half way between Avignon (12 Kms) and Carpentras (13kms). Among other historical remains you will find the 30 metre high « Knights Templars Tower » built directly on rock during the XIth - XIIth century and from it’s panoramic terrace, you can admire the plains, the « Mont Ventoux« , the « Dentelles de Montmiraill and the « Mounts of the Vaucluse ».
Entraigues-sur-la-Sorgue comes from the word Entr’Aygues’ which means « between the waters » Water is omniprésent in Entraigues with the river « Sorgue » running through the communal territory. This river takes its source at the famous « Fontaine-de-Vaucluse » and runs through the « Comtat Venaissin to join the river « Ouveze » an affluent of the Rhone. Pause at the bridge on the way to Bédarrides and admire the flowing waters, very refreshing in the summer. Market day is on Wednesday and is 2 minutes from the house in front of the Town Hall.
Not only is Entraigues a 15 minutes drive into the Papal City of Avignon, perfect for visiting the Town of Avignon but it is also on the Route des Vins. Just a stone’s throw from Châteauneuf de Pape, Vaison la Romaine, Séguret, Gigondas, Vacqueras and Orange. Then moving South into the Luberon National Park you will discover the famous perched villages of Gordes, Roussillon, Lacoste, Bonnieux, and Oppède le Vieux among others.
The house amply accommodates four adults. The thick stone walls will keep you cool in the hot summer and the square is animated but quiet. The pretty sunny sitting room with its ceiling à la « française » and dainty red velvet armchairs to relax in after long visits and the round dining table seats easily 4 people for dinner.
The fully equipped kitchen opens out onto the square and has an oven and hotplates for cooking. There are high quality copper pots and pans and plenty of antique dishes and crystal glassware to use.
Adjacent to the kitchen is a petit salon with an antique bed 1.10m wide. There are delightful paintings and mirrors on the walls and an antique secretary in the corner.
Upstairs you will enter the lovely 1st bedroom. The walls are tainted ochre colour and there is a comfortable 1m wide bed and antique wardrobe. Further along the corridor is the master bedroom with a double bed and plenty of cupboard space.
In between these two bedrooms is a small but very practical bathroom with WC, washbasin and shower.
There is a washing machine and drier on the same floor.
