Casa Colibri is located in the newly developed 340 acre gated private community of Montana approximately 1000 feet (330 meters) above the Pacific Ocean. It is an hour & 30 minute drive from the Liberia Airport. Casa Colibri has a sweeping view of the Pacific Ocean and surrounding mountains and valleys. There is old growth jungle within this private community that will never be disturbed, and miles of trails for your walking or hiking pleasure. The temperature at this altitude is about 10 degrees cooler than the beach areas. Enjoy the fresh mountain air with no dust problems, and drink the delicious mountain spring water right from the tap with no worries about low water pressure or no water.
At Casa Colibri your comfort and enjoyment are our highest priority. We have ceiling fans and individually controlled air conditioning in all rooms including two bedrooms (one with a king bed and the other with two twins), one and a half bathrooms (all linens and bath towels provided), living room with comfy couch and two easy chairs, Satellite TV, DVD/CD player, and wireless internet. We also have an extensive selection of DVD movies and sitcoms for you to choose from. The kitchen is equipped with a full sized refrigerator, gas stove, coffee pot, blender, citrus juicer, microwave and all the cooking utensils and dishware that you will need. Out on the open terrazzo there is a gas Weber BBQ grill. Dine at the breakfast bar or out on the terrazzo. All rooms have large screened windows so that you can enjoy the wonderful mountain breezes that this area is famous for. Sometimes at night you might even need a light-weight blanket as you gaze at the millions of stars from your bedroom window and doze off to sleep.
Outside enjoy the cooling pool for relaxing, playing or exercising. Bring your binoculars and camera because there are always lots of Howler Monkeys in the jungle trees all around. You will also see many green parrots, hummingbirds and other amazing birds as well as beautiful butterflies, including the magnificent Blue Morpho. If you are a plant lover, you will be in Heaven here. Many houseplants are native here and you can see them as you walk through the trails.
Take a twelve minute drive to nearby Samara to enjoy wonderful restaurants (some right on the beach), and great swimming and beginners surfing in the reef-protected bay. Other beaches in the area have world class surfing waves. Samara also offers surfing schools; a language school; and rentals of bicycles, motorbikes, scooters and ATVs (or Quads as they are called here). You can also enjoy a zip line canopy tour, horseback riding, kayaking, deep sea fishing, dolphin and turtle watching, and snorkeling. Samara also offers a doctor, a bank, pharmacies, grocery and wine/liquor stores, massage services, arts & crafts shops, a beauty salon, fresh fruit and vegetable stand, a panaderia (bakery), and pescaderias (fish shops) with ocean fresh seafood at great prices (like fresh caught Mahi Mahi for $3 a pound). And about 10 minutes from Samara is the most beautiful pristine, light-sand beach we have found. There are no hotels or restaurants on it. It is called Carrillo Beach and it is lined with palm trees for shade and has picnic tables and benches. Take the cooler with you and spend the day on this fabulous beach. Or go to a nearby tropical resort for drinks and an amazing sunset. You'll never forget it! Nor will you ever forget your great experience at Casa Colibri!
