After a 3 day wedding celebration with lots of relatives and activities, my husband and I took off for Folly Beach for a little R&R. We were pleasantly surprised, both by the town of Folly and the accommodations at the condo. The property was clean, comfortable and nicely decorated. It's definitely only for 2, (maybe include a small child), but the best part is that it's oceanfront, as much as any at Folly, and the beach is easily accessible by the walkway right off the condo. There is a small area outside the front door with chairs for lounging. The main stairway is also right there, but that didn't interfere with our enjoying a cocktail and viewing the beach. You can't beat the location, with the beach and pier nearby and an easy walk to the "downtown" area which is full of great local restaurants and bars. Even the souvenir shops were quaint and offered much variety. If we needed toiletries or groceries, Bert's Market was just a 2 block walk and had a little bit of everything. The condo owner, Ann, was wonderful and very anxious to make our stay a good one. With close, easy access to Charleston, we found it to be an ideal location. We loved Folly Beach and the condo and hope to return some day.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway.

Outstanding kitchen in a very old unit located in a very old complex. FACTS ONLY: Owner is a delight to work with, the real estate company that handles the property is difficult to catch open and very hard to work with. The front ocean view is of the stairs and everyone elses view is of you setting in the condo as they come up and down the stairs. No privacy as to outside seating area, no division between the individual condos porches, public beach, heavy construction going next door the entire week we were there. Lots of loud parties across the street until 3 AM. The unit is beside the airconditioning units for the entire complex and you hear the other units come on and off constantly all night. The bath room smelled of old urine and we could never determine the source maybe use of sea water?? Mold is visible growing in the shared laundry room. The bed was called a back saver but it is worn out and needs to be replaced. I'm sure the owner pays a great deal for cleaning services but there is an accumulation of dust on the plantation shutters, all ceiling fans and all lighting fixtures. The outside light does not work and many of the outlets do not work..maybe new remodeling eras. The bathroom sink plunger was totally unhooked. Folly Beach is a very party atmosphere, left of the pier is becoming run down, right of the pier seemed to have more desirable lodging. Certainly not the Emerald Beaches of Destin where we often visit. The location is 17 miles from Charleston, grocery stores are not very desirable, no shopping other than low end beach gear. Depends upon you needs and desires, we will continue our investments in the Destin and San Destin areas. Again, owner is wonderful to work with and probably has made this unfortunate investment for rental income only.Recommended for: Pet owners.
