My family and I stayed at the Pineapple Cottage for the month of April 2012. We could not have been more pleased with the accommodations. It surpassed our expectations. The cottage is adorable and filled with every amenity--we were very comfortable. Moreover, it is furnished with dozens of interesting items that catch the eye. We were noticing these gradually over the weeks and they really enhanced our stay. This cottage is much more elegant than a typical beach cottage; I base this comment on places I have rented in Newport, RI, Lewes, DE, and Cooperstown, NY, among others. Seated at the table for lunch, one's eye is drawn to a mermaid, a landscape, a swiss clock. This really adds to the atmosphere. The owners are extremely helpful; they clearly want their guests to be comfortable. They provide information about the cottage, the available beach equipment and the washer-dryer, and area restaurants. . They were very patient and kind in answering any questions. We were made to feel at home from the start. The cottage also has a fabulous deck which is well furnished. We spent time there, morning, noon, and early evening. It was so relaxing. Even our 2-year old granddaughter found much to look at while spending time there. She also loved the little garden, furnished by the owners' daughter, with its fountain, statue of liberty and little panda statues. This garden is visible from the cottage's living room. The Pineapple Cottage is in Seal Beach, a truly charming town at the tip of Orange County. The beautiful beach is only one block from the house. There is a path for biking or walking that leads from the house to the town and its pier. Whether you prefer to walk along the beach or along the town's main street, you can enjoy Seal Beach in all kinds of weather. You need not stray far for interesting shops and good restaurants. We visited Southern California because of relatives nearby. They are moving east. However, I suspect that we have not made out last trip to the Pineapple Cottage! I recommend it heartily.
Owner response:Marianna & Michael: You two were a pure joy to have as guests at the Pineapple Cottage last week. I feel very special to have also met your new Grand daughter while on your vacation. You have a wonderful familiy & Alexandra was so pleasant to meet and vist with. I am happy to hear your familiy will be moving closer to Grandma and Grandpa... Please take care and we will always have the Pineapple Cottage ready for you if you need to get away. Cheers, Elena, Kye & Liberty PS: We let Liberty read your review and she loved the fact you noticed her little garden... Thanks

My husband and I just got back from spending a month in the Pineapple Cottage. Even though we experienced a serious medical problem our first weekend resulting in my husband having a pacemaker, we had a wonderful time. Elena and Kye could not have been more helpful and concerned. We even got valentine treats at our door! This is a perfect location and it is very quiet and relaxing. We loved Seal Beach so much for the eating, shopping and walking the beach that we booked again for next year! Can't wait to shop at Harvey Girl's Boutique and eat at all the good restaurants!
Owner response:Mary: I am so happy you both enjoyed your stay and even after the surprise surgery, made the time to still relax and have a great time. We all enjoyed meeting you both and look forward to seeinig you in the future. Have a relaxing and enjoyable summer. Cheers, Elena

We stayed in this cottage last year (2011), I did not know about the reviews until this year when we returned to Seal Beach to stay at the Star FIsh Cottage! Well we soon realized the same owners rented to us this year! My has their little Liberty Grown and as always a little lady! My daughter and Liberty played the afternoon away making sand castles and giggled the day away. The Pineapple cottage is so cozy and clean, it's was like we were the first to stay in this cottage!! If you want a quiet get away check out this cottage! Nothing better then being able to walk everywhere in the city, we so enjoyed not having to drive anywhere and just relax! THank you Seal Beach, we'll be back!
Owner response:We are so happy to have met you again at the Starfish Cottage this year. We enjoyed seeing the kids have fun at the beach collecting shells and seaweed. Have a great summer and we appreciate your 5 Star Review. Cheers, Elena

Our stay at the Pineapple Cottage was simply put AMAZING. We were only a short walk from the beach making it convenient to walk everywhere we wanted to go. The cottage is decorated with personal touches that add such charm and truly made us feel like it was our home away from home! The photos on the website accurately showcase the cottage. We highly recommend this beach cottage, we can't wait until our next trip... Our many thanks to Elena, Kye and Liberty for making our stay memorable.
Owner response:Anthony & April: We are so glad you had a relaxing trip. I try hard, to make our guests start and end of a vacation enjoyable with the Pineapple Cottage. Please come visit anytime and congratulations on the new addition to your family. Cheers, Elena

This was our second stay at the beautiful Pineapple Cottage - and like before - a good time was had by all! The accommodations are perfect for anyone who wants to get away, unwind, or relax. It was the perfect location for our all girls stay, and we especially want to thank Kye for putting up with our late night karaoke singing! Most of our days were spent lounging up on the Pineapple Deck, or walking down to nearby Main Street, and we especially enjoyed our daily walks to the ocean to watch the sun set. Cheers to Elena and Kye for making us feel right at home. We look forward to seeing you again next year!
Owner response:Hello! Irene & Ann: We are so glad you enjoyed your 2nd stay at the Pineapple Cottage. Your timing was perfect for the beach weather. Thank you for the wonderful 5 star review. I am sorry! I missed out on the Karaoke, I hear it sounded great. Cheers Elena PS: I have your 2012 dates booked on VRBO & the staff looks forward to meeting you all again. Take care

Not often do I give reviews of VRBO, But, in this instance I must rave about the quaintness and very well done Pineapple Cottage. Owners (Elena & Kye) are on site so you're not dealing with a real estate office. Now let's review the location which is just great; one short block to the sand & beach, about 1/4 mile walk to the pier and center of town. The actual Cottage is so cleverly done in pineapple decor (what else); new flat screen TV's and (at last) a Wi Fi system that works. Rooms are small - one would never believe that the cottage was once a garage - unreal. It has a fireplace, small living room, adequate size bathroom/shower, comfortable bed and small functional kitchen. BUT, the topper to all this is the deck on top of the unit - we just lived up there, catching up on our reading and lying in the sun. The town of Seal Beach has an Irish history, many Irish restaurants/cocktail lounges. Restaurants are of personal choice, we found that the "Crema" was just excellent for breakfast/lunch. Also, my wife had an excellent meal at the "Kinda Lahania", I ordered deep fried scallops, my mistake, and so I ate much of my wife's meal. Not to forget "Bogart's", our favorite coffee shop. The local people are so friendly there, they love to talk about how they have cleaned up the image and apperance of Seal Beach which they really have!!!! Once again, considering the price, convenience and people you're dealing with, Pineapple Cottage is a bargain.
Owner response:Hello- We are so happy you enjoyed your stay at the Pineaple Cottage in Seal Beach. One reason we purchased the cottage 10 years ago, was because of the excellent craftsmanship that was done to the entire house exspecially in the Pineapple Cottage. The Cottage used to be a studio, with no Garage and in the 70's it was remodeled making it larger (one-bed/bath cottage) We had the fun of making it modern. We are happy you enjoyed your stay and it was good seeing you at the Pier for music night. Cheers, Elena PS: Hope to see you agian next year when you need to escape the Summer heat of Palm Springs

Elana and Kai are very generous and helpful. The cottage itself is charmingly furnished and has everything you will need for a beach vacation. It includes an enclosed deck above that is private and a perfect place for the sun, especially on a windy afternoon. Very close to the beach and handy to the pier and Main Street. We always look forward to our next stay at the Pineapple Cottage. Jon and Bronwen Auckland, New Zealand

This is our second time around for the Pineapple Cottage. Feels like home but way better! As usual, the ambiance is perfect...clean, comfortable and enough whimsey and well appointed details to feel special. The cottage impresses even those with discriminating taste as it is classic yet unique. It is the ideal escape from the daily grind. Our stay was brief, but refreshing in every way. This place is the perfect location for quiet and privacy, yet a short walk to the pier and Main Street shops and restaurants. The beach itself is literally steps away. Just park the car, leave it, and enjoy! Our hosts are wonderful, too. Life is sooo good at the Pineapple Cottage. We will be back again and again. :-)

My wife and I stayed Easter weekend to explore the area for future stays in the summer ( Az gets hot and Kathleen NEEDS ocean vacations). Though we arrived late due to car trouble Kye and Elena greeted us and we felt comfortable. The cottage was cute and while a bit small had everything. The upstairs deck was perfect although during our stay a bit windy and cool. ( the umbrella blew over and the B_B_Q had a tough time in the wind). We loved the location. Seal Beach was very comfortable and friendly and Main street was walking distance for most people. All in all we felt at home and Kye was very helpfull- thanks for the Plumaria cuttings! You will enjoy the surroundings and the plantings were great. We recommend this place and hope to return soon. Stan and Kathleen ( Scottsdale)
Owner response:Thanks for your reply-- we enjoyed your vist and your knowledge of all of the plants we have at the Cottage. Take care. Elena nd Kye

My daughter and I recently stayed at the cottage for four days, and it was so hard to leave. Everything about it was perfect, from the comfortably furniture, to the great location to the beach and main street. There are so many personal touches that it's fun to discover them all. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything, all you need to pick up is food. There is even a hair dryer in the bathroom. We originally came out to California for my fathers memorial, and spent the first few days at a upscale hotel. But it wasn't until we checked into the cottage until we were finally able to relax and breathe. I loved the bed, it was so comfortable, and I had to promise my daugher to get the same memory foam mattress that was in the daybed. It was very hard to leave, my daugher actually cried. But I promised her we would be back as soon as we could. Thank you so much for the wonderful hospitality your family has shown. You have given us a lifelong memory that my daughter and I will always share. Thank you Jennifer and Caitlin Harris
Owner response:Jennifer & Caitlin: We are pleased you were able to relax in the Pineapple Cottage and it was a pleasure meeting you both. Have a great summer and we look forward to seeing you again one day. Cheers Elena

Ahhh - we already miss our little home away from home! What a wonderful place to stay and such gracious and kind owners. From Elena giving us some kid-friendly food when we arrived at such a late hour, to Kye helping me find and start the BBQ (and plenty of other helpful ideas and assistance), and little Liberty - Rachel had a blast with you! We'll never stay at a hotel again after this experience. Thanks for the postcard, Osti family - we hope to see you again soon! Don't hesitate to book the Pineapple Cottage - you'll love it!
Owner response:We are so glad you enjoyed your visit with us. Liberty said she would like to visit Rachel. Hope to see you next year!! Cheers Elena

Our 2 week vacation in pineapple cottage was like having a home far away from home. We enjoyed every minute in this cute affectionate furnished house. The area around simply wonderful, and the Osti family with funny little Bombay is so kind and helpful, we haven´t miss a thing. Booking a house via VRBO for the first time, it was so much better than a Hotel. The house contents everything we needed, also beach toys for the kids. We´ll come back as soon as possible!!!!

We recently spent a month at Pineapple Cottage in Seal Beach and miss being there. The area is a relaxed old style California beach community with plenty to do and a smile and "hello" from just about everyone. Plenty of good places to eat and plenty of good things to do. The Pineapple cottage is very charming, has beautiful decoration and an effort by the owners to make sure everything you will need is there. It's only a few steps away from a nice sandy beach. Your hosts are especially nice and helpful. They are always available for advice about things to see and where to go. We are based in New Zealand and often vaction at beach communities here in So Cal, Australia and New Zealand. Without a doubt, Pineapple Cottage shines above the others. Jon and Bronwen Junge

Who says you need to travel far to find paradise! Our “all girls” stay at the Pineapple Cottage was fabulous. Even more beautiful than what the pictures show on this website. You can tell that the Osti’s take great pride in their rental - the cottage was immaculate! We took many pictures of the perfectly manicured plants and shrubs…the site of them just took our breath away! We spent most of our days lounging up on the Pineapple Deck, at the beach, or walking down to nearby Main Street for shopping and lunch. The kitchen had every type of utensil a girl could want! We will miss seeing Bombay peek through the kitchen window as we cooked our meals. Such a great dog! We highly recommend the Pineapple Cottage to anyone who wants to get away for some rest and relaxation. In fact, we already gave a deposit for next year! Thank you Kye and Elena for making our stay memorable. (The 605 Girls!)

Going "home" to Seal Beach, where I used to reside, was a real treat and was made especially enjoyable by staying at the Pineapple Cottage. Fun and unexpected decor in every nook and cranny as well as the sounds of fountain water and comfortable surroundings created a special ambiance. The upstairs deck was a private outdoor room that I frequented with my book and glass of wine. It was also defined with personality plus amidst plants and loungechairs. This is a true beach cottage with all the charm that one would expect from a more nostalgic time, brought present day with modern amenities. Steps from the beach and a comfortable walk into town made this location ideal. I would highly recommend this to all. Whether one is looking for quiet introspective time alone, a girlfriend's getaway or quality family time, look no more, this is the place!
Owner response:Jamie: We were glad to hear you enjoyed your old stomping ground. Seal Beach and the Pineapple Cottage will always be here waiting for your next visit. :) Cheers, Elena

We had a wonderful stay at the Pineapple Cottage. Seal beach is a quiet, quaint beach town. The cottage looks just like the pictures, super clean, and minutes walk to the beach. It was perfect for us and our 4 yr old son. We could easily enjoy riding our bikes and rollerblades along the boardwalk, walking to Main Street and the pier, and my sons highlight - our nightly stop at the park at the pier. We're missing the cool ocean breezes! Thank you Ostis' for sharing your home with us!

We had a 2 day layover in LAX on our way to Fiji. The cottage is beautifully decorated- Elena has done a great job. We arrived at 2 AM (after flying from the East Coast) and Elena met us and showed us around. Everything was exactly as expected, and the rooftop was a great getaway. The only caution is that the only bathroom is in the bedroom, and the living room is difficult to navigate when the sleeper couch is open. The first night, it was just three of us- myself, husband, and 13 year old daughter- very comfortable- as she slept on the day bed. When our friend arrived for the second night, it was very tight quarters. So would recommend for 1-3 people, but for 4 people it's awfully tight. A great experience, but way too short! Beth

We had the delight of staying in early October 2009, and found the cottage to be perfect. With the warm and accommodating Kye & Elena, this was the last piece to our wonderful visit. We loved the balcony including grill (despite the wild winds!) and our hosts proved to be exceptionally accommodating when both of us picked up a cold at the end of our stay (luckily it wasn't the dreaded suspected swine flu *phew*). We'd highly recommend anyone to stay here and we look forward to escaping the harsh British winter to stay at the pineapple cottage again.

If you're looking for a beautiful cottage within walking distance to the beach, restaurants and shops with fabulous hosts, you'll find it at The Pineapple Cottage. We enjoyed sitting at the cottage, discovering all the interesting details that Kye, Elena and Liberty have put in place that make it so wonderful, inside or on the roof top deck, and all around the outside of the cottage, little surprises and details are everywhere. It was great to walk to town to dine and shop and just as nice to come home to the cottage. The kitchen is fully stocked and we made as many meals as we ate out. Sorry to say we didn't get to try the Quesadilla maker, maybe next time. Kye promises it's a favorite! We can't say enough, it was truly fabulous.

Escaping from the cruel winter to the warmth of the beach, morning coffee on our private sun deck, snuggling in front of the fire in the evening with a glass of wine - it was hard to return home. Thank you for thinking of all the little touches to make our stay perfect.... the cottage is smartly arranged for privacy, comfort, and efficiency...from the cotton robes in the closet for lounging to the beautiful dishes in the kitchen, a selection of books to read, and hooks EVERYWHERE! The Pineapple Cottage is just so well thought out! Staying here combined all the comforts of home in the beauty of an exclusive upscale guest house. Clean, beautiful, comfortable, welcoming...... Walking down the beach, it's an easy stroll to downtown for charming restaurants and shopping. The pier is a great place to people watch or just gaze out over the ocean. Elena and Kye (and Liberty) were the perfect hosts- making sure we had everything we needed and allowing us the privacy we cherished. Thank you.
Owner response:We are glad you enjoyed the Pineapple Cottage. I'm so glad you had warm weather during your visit to Seal Beach. We look forward to seeing the both of again.

Relaxing, accomodating, convenient, classy and absolutely phenomenal! Your house has everything imaginable and is kept in very nice condition. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge of the beach, tides, restaurants, bike trails, shopping and the list goes on! As a travel nurse on a long assignment, this was the perfect "home away from home". No complaints here...nothing but thanks to Elena, Kye, and Liberty.

We had a wonderful stay at Pineapple Cottage. Everything we could need was at hand. We used Pineapple Cottage as home-base for visiting relatives all over Southern California. When we weren't visiting others, we easily walked everywhere we needed to go in Seal Beach - including a full service gorcery store. Kye, Elena and Liberty were very welcoming and made sure we were comforable and happy during our stay. The fireplace in the front room and the welcome package with sweet treats made the few days of rain quite enjoyable. The Cottage is beautifully decorated. Thanks to the Ostis for a pleasant stay.
Owner response:Jessica, Scott & Gabriel: We were very happy to share our home and the 2008 Christmas Holiday with your family. Happy and Festive travels into the 2009 Year..... Elena

Our visit to the pineapple cottage can be summed up with one word, "amazing." My husband and I went to the Pineapple Cottage for a relaxing weekend away from the hustle and bustle. Being so close to the beach really made everything so perfect. We loved the cleanliness of the cottage and all the space. Seal Beach is the perfect beach town for families or couples. Try out Walt's Wharf for some fish and chips.
Owner response:Gina & Dan: We welcome you back anytime. Thank you for the beautiful flowers you gave us. E.Osti

Gorgeous, really fun place. Kye & Elena were wonderful. Everything was clean & tidy. Very comfortable and the private deck upstairs on the roof was so great to lay in the sun. Ohh and so close to the water we went swimming in the ocean. Well more like paddling but fun anyway. We are looking forward to booking this great cottage again.
Owner response:Chad & Michelle: I was so excited to meet you both and share stories of the wine Country. You are welcome back anytime... :) Elena. Osti

We had a great time at the Pineapple Cottage. After grocery shopping, there’s hardly a need to get in your car again if you want to relax by the beach. It’s hard to find such a clean and nice beach in Southern California as Seal Beach. It was a teat to be able to stroll down the boardwalk to Main Street and enjoy the shops and dining found there. We particularly enjoyed O’Malley’s on Main. They have the best calamari I’ve ever had. Don’t miss the Queen Mary and aquarium in nearby Long Beach – My family really enjoyed the self- paced tour of the Queen Mary. Thanks again!John, Teresa, Tom & Tyler Vitale

Our stay at the Pineapple cottage was the best vacation we have taken as a family. Our two small daughters loved Seal Beach with the strong waves, sea shells and best of all making sand castles. The cottage was perfect for us, we had everything we needed to make our selfs at home. The beautiful decor of the cottage added to the relaxing atmosphere of the entire neighborhood. We met the friendliest people at the local small shops and restaurants, all in walking distance of our beautiful cottage. The Osti family (owners) made us feel very welcome and gave us the good tips on the best places to go and have the perfect experience at Seal Beach. We are looking forward to going back next summer.
Owner response:Dave & Jane: We are so happy to hear you enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere and Seal Beach neighborhood. Have a wonderful remainder of your 2008 summer. Sincerely, Elena Osti

The Pineapple Cottage was magical it had every thing you could think of, all you needed was your cloths. The owners had thought of everything, the decor was beautiful. Seal beach was just steps away. We would highly recommend this Cottage for the couple that needs just to get away for the weekend its very romantic and beautiful. We loved having our coffee on the upper deck and our wine there at night. We can't wait to go back. Thank you to the owners we loved it!

my husband and i looked at many vacation rentals in seal beach before choosing the "pineapple". our three prerequisites were cleanliness, comfort and coziness. the cottage delivered on all three superbly but i must say what really made our month's stay was the owners hospitality and attention to detail. we are looking forward to our next visit.
Owner response:R&S: Thank you for your kind review. We have made the Pineapple Cottage a home for traveling guests with 5 Star needs. Please come vist any time and PS: Bombay misses his long walks with you. Cheers, Elena
