Location: Encinitas, San Diego County, California, USA (Walk to downtown Encinintas, great beach, many restaurants) View Map
Accommodations: Condo, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath (Sleeps 2-3)
Keywords: Private Unit, duplex
After your first visit, you will want to come back year after year. Located just 2 blocks from famous Moonlight Beach, and 4 blocks to downtown Encinitas (great restaurants and shops), enjoy a newly remodeled 1 bedroom unit that has a private backyard, and large dedicated parking spot right in-front.
See the video link below (it is located just above the "Owners Profile" section). If you have trouble finding it, just search Youtube for "moonlight 182242" and it usually comes up first (or email me for the link).
The entire retreat was completely remodeled two years ago from the studs up, with new appliances, furniture, queen sized bed, beautifully tiled shower, and granite counter tops. The entertainment system includes a 42 inch flat screen TV with the ability to stream most Netflix movies directly to the TV at no additional charge. Bring your MP3s and play the music thru the sound system as you sit in your private backyard which is lushly landscaped and includes a gas barbecue.
We have had great feedback, just check out the comments left by our guests.
Moonlight is one of the most popular beaches in North County San Diego, with facilities that include restrooms, showers, volleyball courts, fire pits, barbecues, beach rentals , children’s playground, and even a great snack bar! If you want a more secluded beach, just walk about 100 yards north or south on the beach.
Walk into downtown Old Encinitas which is just 4 short blocks away and eat at one of the many great restaurants or shop at the small unique shops.
The unit has complete set of dishes, linens, towels, beach chairs, umbrella, and wifi. Also has private washer and dryer.
There is a beautiful walk-in shower but no bath tub, so for small children, it may not be a great place.
We are dog-friendly. The unit is best suited for small to mid-size dogs.

Why the Owner Chose Encinitas
Encinitas has a small beach town atmosphere, people are very friendly, and it has the best beach around. The rental unit is very private with its own entrance and typically I don't see our renters for days on end. But if you need something..I am close.
The Unique Benefits at this Condo
Take our beach bikes on the beach during low tide, everyone loves it. Also stream hundreds of Netflix movies at no charge.
Lots of great restaurants and shops: 101 Diner (Breakfast) E Street Cafe (Coffee shop) Vigilucci (Italian) Manhattan Pizza (pizza) El Callejon (Mexican) Siamese Basil (Thai) Rozy's (Salads & Sandwiches) Many more
Owner's Map of Encinitas
I have lived in the San Diego area for over 30 years. Living so close to many great restaurants and the beach makes it feel like I am on vacation everyday. My wife and I both come from the New York/New Jersey area.

This little apartment is very well thought out, and comfortable. Even the sofa bed is nice; it has a clever air mattress setup and our daughter spent several nights on it. We used the cruiser bikes, surfboard, wireless network and Netflix movies. Warren and Meryl will be as accessible as you want, but will otherwise make themselves scarce. It has everything but a view: handy parking spot, great location, great setup.

A perfect place to stay while we were visiting relatives in Encinitas. Moonlight Beach is a short walk as is downtown Encinitas. It doesn't get much better than walking the beach and coming 'home' to such a nice place. Why would anyone stay at a hotel?? Thanks, Warren!

Met a few locals an when they saw the place they thought it was GREAT! Nice quiet neighborhood and close to everything you don't need to drive.

This beach close location was great. I enjoyed long walks on the beach and enjoyed body surfing even though the water was ice cold. The surf in Encinitas is pretty good. Access to San Diego was very good. The apartment was clean and well equipped. I especially liked the book the owner put together with menus of local places to dine and things to do. The host even printed me out things to do from his computer suppling me with maps as well. If I ever get the chance I'd stay there again.

Warren and Meryl make it so easy to settle right in. This was our second time, and it was even better because we knew to expect a comfortable bed, clean accommodations, and plenty of extras. It's really so close to the beach, but in a quiet neighborhood. No concern over parking, because you get your own personal space. Using the washer and dryer is super convenient when you're on a beach trip. Having a great TV setup makes for an enjoyable evening after coming in from the surf. Great shower. And did I mention the bed? We slept in every day, because it was so peaceful, quiet, and comfortable to take advantage. The only problem is how long we have to wait till we come again.
Owner response:We constantly hear about "the comfortable bed" and I think I should try it out for myself one night (perhaps next time I am in the dog house!). Having such great people enjoy our hidden treasure puts a smile on my face......thanks for the review.

What a lovely, cozy, super clean guesthouse!! There was nothing we needed that wasn't available. Loved the location for restaurants close by & beautiful "Moonlight Beach". Also enjoyed the lush, tropical, private backyard for morning coffee, happy hour & a candlelight dinner. Our hosts, Warren and Meryl were gracious and most accommodating. Perfect spot for some R & R, & the weather was gorgeous too!!
Owner response:Meryl and I just love to see our guests enjoy the private backyard. Thanks and hope to see you again!

We stayed in the 'Encinitas Hideaway' for a long weekend and had a great time. The unit is lovely with nice finishes throughout, and was very comfortable for my husband and I. We even had a few people over for a BBQ one night in the lovely garden, and the owners graciously offered additional chairs for our guests. The owners were great to work with, and we'd definitely come back for another visit!

The location of this property is perfect. You are within a 5 minute walk to a fabulous beach (Moonlight Beach) and perhaps a 20 minute walk to downtown shopping and restaurants. The outside enclosed yard is perfect for dogs to romp around. The owners are very helpful and hospitable. My husband says this is the most relaxing trip he has had recently. We would definitely stay here again.
Owner response:Not getting into the car and enjoying a short walk to meal all that more enjoyable. We just love when we see our visitors relax. Thanks for the great review.

The VRBO ad for this property was accurate; the place was clean, comfortable, and so close to the beach! Our hosts were friendly and accomodating. It is in a great location with many options to play, dine, relax and sight see! I've had such great experiences with VRBO properties, I might never stay in a hotel ever again!

From the booking to saying goodbye this was an amazing mini vacation. Booking was very easy and Warren and Meryl were perfect hosts. Greeting us upon our arrival and going over the essentials of the hide away. The condo is very well appointed and very cozy. Everything is up to date and makes you feel like you are staying at a resort. It is a two block walk to the beach and a few blocks to all the shops and restaurants. I think we only got in the car once! We totally enjoyed ourselves and look forward to returning!
Owner response:We appreciate the great review and were excited to see you participate in the 5K run which starts just a few blocks away. Walking to the event makes the entire experience much more relaxing. Hope to see you again.
