My boyfriend and I had an absolutely fabulous time at this condo! It is exactly like the pictures above, in fact the pictures don't do it justice. Our two small dogs had plenty of room to play in the backyard. The kitchen was fully stocked with anything you could need. We cook a lot, and the pots and pans weren't the typical old ones. They were newer and in great shape. The location is fantastic (only 5 minute walk to our favorite place, Juanitas Taco Shop, a must have, locals stop) and a block to the beach. Although we didn't meet Meryl, Warren greeted us shortly after we arrived. He was available if needed, but otherwise was out of our hair so we could enjoy the vacation. I don't want to give a good review...but only for selfish reasons as I want this place all to myself! You will not regret staying here!

Recently stayed at this condo with my wife and daughter, better than any hotel. Was made to feel so welcome from Warren and his wife.Great hosts helped us with any queries and noting was too much trouble.Would have no problem recommending this condo. Ideal location less than ten minutes to Moonlight beach, close to so many amenities and great base to go off and explore from. Was perfect base for us as we were visiting family in Encinitas. If we get the opportunity to visit again, would be our first choice to book.Condo was exactly like it's pictures, and delighted with the extra'a like wifi, netflix etc.Could not find any faults we loved it.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The apartment was comfortable, quiet, clean, nicely furnished and decorated. Very pretty, private patio and garden. Owner lives on property and was very helpful about restaurants and places to see but never intrusive. Quiet location but just a couple blocks from beach and town. We would most definitely stay here again and would recommend it to others.

This little apartment is very well thought out, and comfortable. Even the sofa bed is nice; it has a clever air mattress setup and our daughter spent several nights on it. We used the cruiser bikes, surfboard, wireless network and Netflix movies. Warren and Meryl will be as accessible as you want, but will otherwise make themselves scarce. It has everything but a view: handy parking spot, great location, great setup.

Met a few locals an when they saw the place they thought it was GREAT! Nice quiet neighborhood and close to everything you don't need to drive.

A perfect place to stay while we were visiting relatives in Encinitas. Moonlight Beach is a short walk as is downtown Encinitas. It doesn't get much better than walking the beach and coming 'home' to such a nice place. Why would anyone stay at a hotel?? Thanks, Warren!

This beach close location was great. I enjoyed long walks on the beach and enjoyed body surfing even though the water was ice cold. The surf in Encinitas is pretty good. Access to San Diego was very good. The apartment was clean and well equipped. I especially liked the book the owner put together with menus of local places to dine and things to do. The host even printed me out things to do from his computer suppling me with maps as well. If I ever get the chance I'd stay there again.

Warren and Meryl make it so easy to settle right in. This was our second time, and it was even better because we knew to expect a comfortable bed, clean accommodations, and plenty of extras. It's really so close to the beach, but in a quiet neighborhood. No concern over parking, because you get your own personal space. Using the washer and dryer is super convenient when you're on a beach trip. Having a great TV setup makes for an enjoyable evening after coming in from the surf. Great shower. And did I mention the bed? We slept in every day, because it was so peaceful, quiet, and comfortable to take advantage. The only problem is how long we have to wait till we come again.
Owner response:We constantly hear about "the comfortable bed" and I think I should try it out for myself one night (perhaps next time I am in the dog house!). Having such great people enjoy our hidden treasure puts a smile on my face......thanks for the review.

What a lovely, cozy, super clean guesthouse!! There was nothing we needed that wasn't available. Loved the location for restaurants close by & beautiful "Moonlight Beach". Also enjoyed the lush, tropical, private backyard for morning coffee, happy hour & a candlelight dinner. Our hosts, Warren and Meryl were gracious and most accommodating. Perfect spot for some R & R, & the weather was gorgeous too!!
Owner response:Meryl and I just love to see our guests enjoy the private backyard. Thanks and hope to see you again!

The location of this property is perfect. You are within a 5 minute walk to a fabulous beach (Moonlight Beach) and perhaps a 20 minute walk to downtown shopping and restaurants. The outside enclosed yard is perfect for dogs to romp around. The owners are very helpful and hospitable. My husband says this is the most relaxing trip he has had recently. We would definitely stay here again.
Owner response:Not getting into the car and enjoying a short walk to meal all that more enjoyable. We just love when we see our visitors relax. Thanks for the great review.

The VRBO ad for this property was accurate; the place was clean, comfortable, and so close to the beach! Our hosts were friendly and accomodating. It is in a great location with many options to play, dine, relax and sight see! I've had such great experiences with VRBO properties, I might never stay in a hotel ever again!

We had a great time at this comfy, quiet little apartment! It was so close to the beach, and to Encinitas restaurants and shopping. It has everything you could possibly need - if it rains, you can watch movies or listen to music on the huge TV, or surf the net with the wifi; if it's sunny you can be out all day. We didn't use the beach bikes or beach chairs, but we knew they were there if we wanted them. The place was very clean, and so nicely decorated, too! If we come back to Encinitas, this is where we're staying...
Owner response:Hi A&J, It is always enjoyable for me to see visitors explore the area and enjoy themselves. Hope to see you again and thanks for taking the time to submit the review.

From the booking to saying goodbye this was an amazing mini vacation. Booking was very easy and Warren and Meryl were perfect hosts. Greeting us upon our arrival and going over the essentials of the hide away. The condo is very well appointed and very cozy. Everything is up to date and makes you feel like you are staying at a resort. It is a two block walk to the beach and a few blocks to all the shops and restaurants. I think we only got in the car once! We totally enjoyed ourselves and look forward to returning!
Owner response:We appreciate the great review and were excited to see you participate in the 5K run which starts just a few blocks away. Walking to the event makes the entire experience much more relaxing. Hope to see you again.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Encinitas. The Condo was clean, quiet and modern. The entire unit had been remodeled with granite counters and tile flooring. The private yard allows the unit to feel larger and more comfortable. The floor plan was well planned and fit 2 adults, an 8 year old and a dog. But I would not recommend for more than that as this place is small. The owners are very kind and accommodating. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need for dining in. The large screen TV is equipped with all the cable channels even movies. It is a very short walk to beach, but no dogs allowed. You will need to drive to Del Mar if your canine buddy is joining you. We started out each day there after hitting the Lofty Bean which is a must for coffee lovers. Overall great place and the only thing that was missing on our stay was access to Wifi.
Owner response:To boost the signal of our wireless network we just added an "extender" so now you can even be in the private backyard and have a strong signal. The streaming netflix movies also streams without any interruptions.

Booked this location as part of a short trip out of town for a little R&R. The accommodations and town of Encinitas exceeded our expectations. Everything was within a short walk. The beach is only two blocks away and several restaurants were within a 10 minute walk. The weather was perfect and Warren (the owner) provided some excellent recommendations for things to do and places to eat. I suggest borrowing/renting bikes to ride up and down the various scenic lookouts. We flew into San Diego and took the short 45 min Coaster (also scenic) train ride up to Encinitas. We will definitely be back.
Owner response:I also love taking the train when I can since it lets you off just 4 blocks away, it is so relaxing. If you come out again hopefully you can take the bikes on the beach, it is one of my favorite things to do. Thanks for the review!

My girlfriend and I recently took a vacation to get out of snowy Utah. We often visit San Diego as it is one of our favorite spots. We chose to take her Two Chuihuahua's to play on the beach so we needed to find something that allowed pets. We came accross this rental not knowing the encinita's area very well but knew it was nice. We could not have found a better location. Encinita's is beautiful and the rental is just around the corner from the beach. Everything we wanted to do was extremely accessable; and the town itself was really cool. We found a great Market down the road called "The Seaside Market", that had fresh meats and fish with a great deli. My girlfriend and I enjoyed eating breakfast and dinners on the back padio with our puppies. The Owner (Warren) is extemely nice and very welcoming. He mad sure we had everything we needed and helped us out with knowing the area and offering suggestions for things to do. If you are looking at this rental or others in the SanDiego area, I can say with great confidence you will love this place. Thanks Warren, we really enjoyed this place and hope to return again, Mike and Jenn
Owner response:Mike, Thanks for the great review. It is hard to get a good feeling for the private backyard from the pictures, but having meals outside is the way to enjoy San Diego. Hope to see you again!

We stayed in the 'Encinitas Hideaway' for a long weekend and had a great time. The unit is lovely with nice finishes throughout, and was very comfortable for my husband and I. We even had a few people over for a BBQ one night in the lovely garden, and the owners graciously offered additional chairs for our guests. The owners were great to work with, and we'd definitely come back for another visit!

This was my first time booking through VRBO and the overall experience exceeded all of my expectations. Warren, the property owner, was very easy to work with and communicated all the rental details and then some. Once we arrived, Warren helped us to settle in and provided valuable information on how to live like an Encinitas local. The condo itself was very clean and fully stocked with all the essentials and many extras. My wife and I used the gas grill one night to cook ourselves dinner which rocked. The audio video setup was above and beyond what you would normally expect from any type of rental. He had a Ruku box which we used to watch a Netflix movie one evening. The location is prime just 2 blocks from Moonlight beach. For those who don't know, this is probably the nicest beach in Southern California. The overall speed and feel of Encintas is laid back and Warren's beach condo helped to make the experience. I will definitely stay again the next time we plan a vacation to the west coast. Thanks again to Warren and his wife for making our stay so great! Kelly and Molly
Owner response:Thanks Kelly for the great review. Having the ability to stream Netflix movies to your TV is a great way to unwind. The technology is getting unbelievable.

We thoroughly enjoyed our 8 night stay at this luxury one bedroom condo. We found the unit to be very well equipped, clean and tastefully decorated. The short three minute walk to the excellent beach was enjoyable. The owner was very helpful and accomodating. We had a little difficulty getting our wi-fi laptop working when we first arrived, and Warren promptly helped us to get it set up. Our stay was made all the more enjoyable because we had beautiful warm weather during our entire stay. We would highly recommend this condo for a married couple looking for a relaxing holiday in a beautiful location in southern California. John & Lucille

This place was awesome!!! My husband, nine-year-old daughter, and I stayed for a full week and loved staying here. The finishes are top of the line. The bed is sooooo comfortable. My husband said he'd never slept better away from home anywhere. It was so quiet. We never saw Warren and Meryl, except when we needed them, and we hardly did. They were so gracious and friendly. It's a great location in a quiet neighborhood definitely within walking distance of Moonlight Beach or Stonesteps. Walking to the D Street beach is definitely doable. We just didn't because our daughter wasn't up for it, and we drove over to the quick, yummy restaurants on D Street (FYI). You have your own parking space, your own backyard, patio, grill, washer/dryer. And, AND, a DVR set up on the flat screen in the living room with Netflix movie ordering capability. Did I mention the shower? Great, super hot all the time, great pressure from two kinds of shower heads and a bench to sit on when you're oh so tired from trying to boogie board or surf. Definitely would recommend this lovely spot, EXCEPT when we want to go:):) And we will be back!!!

We really enjoyed our stay in Encinitas. The condo was very comfortable and clean with a private entrance and private back yard. The yard was beautifully landscaped. Warren and Meryl were great hosts. They were very friendly and welcoming. They also had some great tips on places to eat, shop, and which dog beach to go to, etc. We would definitely come and stay here again, and we highly recommend it.

My husband & I regularly stay in vacation rental homes & condos when we travel and this property effortlessly eased its way to the top of my list. I would go back again & again. Location: Close to Moonlight Beach, you can walk to anything you need. Superior over beaches in Mission & Pacific area, as you'll experience more of a locals feel in a small beach community. It's a highly walkable location or you can use the bikes in the garage to scoot around town. You can also take the Coaster from San Diego airport to Encinitas stop & walk several blocks to the property, thus avoiding renting a car. Comfort: The queen bed was a dream & we slept soundly. The bedroom's appointed with a large dresser and two nightstands for your clothes and gear, as well as a well-sized closet. There's an iron, so no need to pack that. The bedroom also has a LCD TV w/remote control & a clock radio - an amenity many properties don't have. Bathroom/Vanity Area: The walk-in-shower is well designed and large. Plenty of space for your toiletries & it has two shower heads. Dual overhead lighting provides lots of light - either over the vanity or down lighting from the ceiling. There's a hair dryer too, so check that off your list to pack. Living/Kitchen Area: Everything you need in one space. Don't be fooled by the European-sized kitchen, it has everything you need. There's a four-burner stove, a full-size microwave oven and refrigerator and garbage disposal. I found all the gadgets I needed to cook breakfast or prepare meats to grill on the gas grill that's just outside the door. The grill was great as well, heated up within minutes. If you plan to cook regularly pack a box of your favorite herbs, spices & sauces so you don't have to invest in these on your trip. Backyard: Enjoy your own small backyard with it's own lawn, lush landscaping and blooming shrubs. There's a patio set on the back for four with a table to enjoy morning coffee or evening meals. Suggestions for local restaurants: Use Yelp to find local recommendations or ask the very hospitable owners who'll point you in the right direction based on your tastes.

I couldn't have been happier with my week here. The unit is fantastic, sparkling clean, beautifully renovated and decorated, with everything provided that you might need, and more. The owners are extraordinarily helpful and kind, making you feel at home instantly and at the same time giving you complete privacy. The unit is on a quiet side street in very close walking distance to the beach...I already look forward to my next stay here. Truly a fantastic place I'd recommend to friends and family in a heartbeat!!!
Owner response:My wife and I get real joy from all the great comments. The place is set-up for privacy and we rarely see the renters. We also like to help out when needed and try to give a warm greeting when checking in.

His willingless to re-list the property allowed me to recover my deposit. My lost vacation will be the gain of the new people who booked. As a former Californian whose adult kids still live in Orange County -trips between states are frequent, and I still have that need to get to the beach. I was thrilled to discover Warren and Meryl's darling guest house in Encinitas. (We stayed May 1,2) Everything they have done to the guest house is upscale and very tasteful. Everything you could want is provided. They also welcomed our 8 mo. old pup, Seamus....who loved the yard.We enjoyed morning and evening walks around the neighborhood and down to the beach. We made new friends at El Callejon, our favorite Mexican place in SD County. My goal is to come back to the guest house for a longer visit and not even move my car for days. This is the place you can do it! Thanks to Warren and Meryl for such a terrific place! We will be back.
