This is a very comfortable second floor apartment in a traditional Provincetown "loft" house on the beach in the quiet East End gallery district. It has been known as "The Nautilus" for more than 100 years, yet is fully modern in appointments.
Ideal location. If there is a breeze on the shore, you get it. A five minute walk from the center of town. Outstanding restaurants and one of the town's best specialty groceries are just a few steps away. Decor is mixed antique and modern, with modern fully equipped kitchen and bath.
A large covered porch ideal for dozing or al fresco meals overlooks the harbor. You are less than 25 yards from the beach. The gently sloping sand is wonderful for children. The owner occupies the first floor apartment, so help with any issue is readily available.
Linens are supplied, and changed as part of the weekly free house cleaning. Parking for one standard size vehicle is provided free. There is a lovely enclosed hot and cold running outdoor shower. Owner and family have loved this place for more than 50 years, and you will too.

- Waterfront, not Lake/Oceanfront. Ask for details : The beach in Provincetown Harbor is 150 feet away.

- There is a very comfortable enclosed outdoor shower with hot and cold running water that many tenants find highly enjoyable because it means no need to track sand into the apartment.
- Suitability
- Pet Friendly : Animals protected from fleas and ticks are welcome. They must be treated with Frontline or equivalent.
- Kid Friendly : We are happy to have kids (having grandchildren of our own) but very young children should be monitored. A large mesh screen protects kids from going through the porch railing but the screen is not proof against a persistent child.
- Smoking Not Allowed : Sorry, but so many people find the after scent of smoking objectionable that we can't permit it.

Why the Owner Chose Provincetown
I inherited this property in 1959, and have brought my family here for vacation ever since. I have never really considered vacationing anywhere else. Living here full time is the fulfillment of a lifelong dream.
The Unique Benefits at this Apartment
My desk is at a large SE facing window that overlooks the harbor, making it possible to work with a view, observe activity on the water and keep my eyes on my boats which are moored right in front of the house (sorry not available for tenant use).

I'm a retired vice president for communications of the College Entrance Examination Board and have been living year-round in Provincetown for (yikes!) seventeen years. My basic craft is writing, which I have practiced as a newspaper reporter, magazine editor and writer, and communications executive. I love to sail, fish, swim, take pictures and do puppetry and conjuring. I am also a board member of the local theater and act and direct. I live on the first floor apartment in the property and am available to help with most problems, if any.
