We're also just a short drive to Mass MoCA, the largest center for contemporary arts in the United States, and many more cultural destinations! My girlfriend and I (along with our dog) spent a weekend in Savoy in October 2009. I proposed to her at nearby Tannery Falls and surprised her with the house rental. Nate really goes above and beyond with every aspect of this house. He prepped the house with champagne, flowers, chocolate, and even started a fire for us in the wood stove on the morning we were set to arrive. He gave us recommendations for eating and hiking as well. The house itself is beautiful and clearly is a result of Nate's attention to detail. It has a perfect balance of cozy and modern decoration (and one of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept in). At the end of the weekend, there was really nothing more we could have asked for. Perfect house for a perfect weekend. Thanks Nate!

This place is all the description says and more. The kitchen is perfect for preparing meals and large enough for a family to sit and eat together at the table. The property is very well maintained with a trail to the private lake and picturesque views of the Berkshires. We spent most of our time hiking and biking the local trails. Tannery Falls are close enough to bike to and well worth seeing. At night we sat outside by a roaring fire, listening to nature and relaxing. Can't beat this place if you just want to get away and decompress. Will definitely keep in mind for future vacations. A+

We just spent a great week at Nine Black Brook! We have stayed at numerous "rental by owner" places and this was definitely one of the nicest. The cabin is just the right size, not too big or small. Everything was as promised, with all the amenities you could possibly need. The cabin was spotless when we arrived, including pristine white bed linens and plenty of fresh, thick towels in the lovely bathroom. There are lots of cozy places to curl up with a good book, and on the cool, rainy days, it was so nice having a fire in the wood stove. The kitchen is well equipped for preparing meals, which we enjoyed on the front porch by candlelight, relaxing with a good bottle of wine every night. We like to stay in places with an "off the beaten path" feel, and Nine Black Brook fit the bill, yet it is within a short drive to lots of great hiking, Mass MoCA, a decent grocery store, etc. We also loved being able to walk out the door for a good hike in the Savoy Mt State Forest, no car needed. Owner Nate was very responsive and helpful before we arrived and when a few questions came up during our stay. We'd highly recommend Nine Black Brook to anyone, and are already thinking about our next visit -- wish it could be sooner! :)

My husband and I spent a long weekend in Savoy, MA. He said it was our best get-a-way ever! The house was cozy and clean. The area was beautiful and the weather was splendid! We hiked to Tannery Falls and try to make it up to Balance Rock, but never got there. The path was a bit rough and wet; remnants of Irene, maybe. But it was still worth the walk in the peaceful woods of Savoy. We read, relaxed, talked and reconnected after 27 years of marriage and raising two boys, it was a pleasure to find ourselves again. We felt like we were in our 20's again! I would recommend bringing food to cook, but no need for cookware or spices as there was plenty of that. There was a good supply of DVDS but no TV so bring your laptop. Grocery stores and restaurants are about 20-30 minutes away, so plan accordingly. You can do as little or as much as you want in the Berkshires as there is so much to see and do. Stockbridge is about an hour away, so go see the Norman Rockwell museum or have lunch al fresco at the Red Lion Inn. You have to check out this wonderful house!Thank you for sharing your home with us.

Warm cozy inviting remote cottage deep in Savoy forest (that means don't expect to walk to the local coffee shop or market as closest store is 15-20 min. drive). This is a wonderful place to disconnect and unwind- cozy sofa, GREAT beds, lovely bathroom, well stocked kitchen for spices, coffee, cocoa, toasty wood burning stove with beautiful hearth. 30 minute hike to Tannery Falls from your front door, bike the rail trail, kayak/raft in Deerfield river. We also made 45 minute drive to Jiminy Peak for the arial adventure park for ropes course and ziplines. At night we collapsed by the outdoor firepit and made s'mores (supplies provided by Nate!) and watched shooting stars. Our kids loved the cottage, activities, and opportunity to be unplugged from cell phone and TV!

If you're looking to truly "get away," this is the place to do it. You will have no distractions here and you don't have to pack ANYTHING but your clothes and some groceries. The owners have thought of EVERYTHING for this place. The kitchen is fully stocked and the house has everything one would need to live out in the Berkshire Mountains. I'm so glad my girl friends and I picked this place for our "reunion" weekend. I only wish we could have stayed longer. You will not be disappointed with 9 Black Brook Cabin!

We feel so fortunate to have just returned from a week at Nine Black Brook Road. Sitting out at night on the spacious wrap-around deck gazing at the stars and watching fire flies light our lovely surroundings was a magical experience. Nate and Ryan are wonderful hosts. The beds are clean and comfortable. The kitchen is better stocked than my own kitchen at home. Good water pressure and plenty of hot water for relaxing showers in their very nicely finished bathroom. We appreciated the ample supply of clean white towels and the much needed extra toothbrushes. We didn't take advantage of all the yard has to offer solely because we were busy attending a music festival in North Adams, exploring the amazing Tannery Falls and the trails surrounding it, and just hanging out in the Berkshires. (Still can't believe we could walk right out your front door and be at the falls in no time! What a treat!) We had friends stay with us for a few nights and they also enjoyed the house and were equally impressed by the thoughtful way the house is furnished. The only issue for our guests was that they opted not to sleep in the bunkroom since we would have needed to pass through the bunkroom while they were sleeping in order to access the rest of the house. Since they were only staying 3 nights, they opted to sleep in the living room which gave them the privacy and comfort they needed, and the enjoyment of the lovely night air of Savoy. Many thanks for your charming hospitality Nate and Ryan! We' found the location convenient enough to North Adams and Williamstown that we hope to rent from you again next year for the SS music fest. Happiness to you and our fellow travelers...L

The owners have made this cozy, clean and comfortable cabin a perfect getaway. The cabin is well-equipped with everything you can think of and even has those things that you forgot to think of! We loved the hiking, the mountain biking, the restaurants, the museums and the beautiful star-filled night skies. Our Golden Retriever adored the pond, the lovey gardens and backyard,Tannery Falls and all the hiking trails. The cabin was a perfect base for exploring the Berkshires and visiting our sons who attend colleges in Western Mass.

My husband and I stayed at 9 Black Brook during the 3rd week of July. It was heaven. We cooked outside and had a fire in the pit almost every night. It was wonderfully quiet, but the broad-band connection allowed me to work on an online course I was teaching. Someone wrote that the cabin was better equipped than his home. I will second that. Everything from coffee to the ingredients for smores was waiting for us when we arrived. It was an idyllic week.

What a great, great place! What attention to detail! Thanks Nate! Fantastic place, SO QUIET! I told Nate that I have not expierianced such quiet in YEARS! No cars, no planes, nothing but birds and crickets! However, I thought I grew up in the country, never again will I say that! Dirt roads, neighbors who wave at you as you travel down the country roads, Wow!
