Why the Owner Chose Charlevoix
We chose this "Gold Coast" location for our family cottage because of the beautiful beaches and sunsets. The peaceful and tranquil location is the ultimate in "laid back." The beaches are perfect for walking, running, playing or swimming. The water is totally safe and clean. Nightimes and mornings, you will find perfect silence except for the lapping of the waves or the call of the Seagulls.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage
The Antrim Creek Natural Area is just 5 cottages down to the north. You will easily recognize it as the boundry is marked by a little stream that kids and dogs love to play in. Cross the stream (it is easy to wade through, and sometimes to jump over) and you'll find 156 acres of rolling sand dunes and over one mile of pristine beaches which fade into woods on your right. There are no homes and no buildings in this area. Just acres of woods and beaches with few people. There are some great trails through the woods. After more than 25 years, we have yet to see a group over 10-15 people in the entire area. The Antrim Creek Natural Area is a Prehistoric Native American site dateing to the Late Woodland period. Based on the recovery of small triangular arrowheads and distinctive cordimpressed pottery fragments it probably is Late Woodland in age (circa A.D. 600-A.D 1600) For more details and some beautiful photos of the area, go to the Antrim Natural Area Website.
The Antrim Creek Natural Area is just five cottages down to the north. It has over one mile of rolling dunes and Lake Michigan frontage with over 150 acres of woods with trails. This family cottage has been our vacation home and then year-round home for about 25 years. It is a beautiful, peaceful, and quiet location just 12 miles south of Charlevoix and directly west of the Antrim Dells Golf Course (open to the public). It located just 20 minutes from two of the best restaurants in Michigan: Tapawingo and Rowe Inn; both located in Ellsworth. Don't miss these gourmet restaurants and make sure to make reservations in advance as they are quite busy in the summer months.

This cottage is absolutely charming!! Very clean, well maintained, fully stocked (anything you might need), with comfortable furnishings and beds. The porch is wonderful! Great place to enjoy your morning coffee and a beautiful view at sunrise... and the sunsets! The Lake Michigan beachfront is gorgeous, rustic and secluded... close to a beautiful nature preserve. We had a fabulous time making special family memories. Would highly recommend this location to anyone!
Recommended for:Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, pet owners, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, families with young children.

We just returned from a wonderful week at this cottage! The site is amazing, looking directly onto Lake Michigan from a lawn chair outside or from the screened in porch. Site is next to a nature preserve for hiking. Just a few miles south of Charlevoix, and also nearby Petoskey. The cottage is lovely, white log inside, immaculate and well furnished. The upstairs "loft" is huge with a queen bed and set of bunks. No a/c needed for the cool lakefront nights. The added benefit of bringing your pets is great, our 2 goldens loved the water! Great nearby fishing in Lake Charlevoix and beautiful beaches there too. BBQ grill provided so I never had to cook! Plan to visit; it is well worth it. Nearby Castle Farms is a great family day trip.
