Waialua Honu Hale - Spectacular Oceanfront
- Minimum stay:5-7 nights
- Internet:Yes
- Pets allowed:No
- Wheel chair accessible:No
The Waialua Honu Hale is located on a scenic sandy beach, on a quiet cul-de-sac. A five minute drive into Haleiwa lets you enjoy restaurants, shopping, and adventures; not to mention this quaint town is the surfing capitol of the world. Our beautiful four bedroom, two bath remodeled home with spectacular beach and ocean views is enhanced by lush tropical landscaping that offers you comfort, privacy, amenities and the conveniences of a resort hotel.
The home is finished with wood and slate flooring throughout, a fully equipped kitchen with granite countertops and stainless appliances and designer details in every room.
Our Waialua home is located on the North Shore on the island of Oahu. This is the Hawaii you dream about, just 35 minutes from the Honolulu International Airport, 45 minutes from Pearl Harbor and 45 minutes to the beaches of Waikiki. The North Shore offers snorkeling, swimming, diving, fishing, windsurfing, kayaking and of course surfing. We recommend a trip to the Old Sugar Mill of Waialua and try the natural shave ice, Waimea Falls Botanical Garden, Polynesian Cultural Center, Sunset Beach or maybe a horseback ride in Pupukea.
We call this house the Honu (turtle) Hale (home) for when you walk along the beach in the early evening you will see many turtles within the coral and reefs eating their dinner.

We wanted a special place for my birthday and our 20th anniversary and we found it. A wonderful house right on the beach. North shore was so "beachy". We had a blast. I really liked the outdoor shower. This house had both sunrise and sunset views. We hated to leave to sightsee. Joey had good advice about leaving early in the beginning of the week when we are up so early due to the time change. We got to Pearl Harbor early and even found a Starbucks around the corner to wait for our tour. Our favorite place was the Coffee Gallery in Haleiwa. Do NOT miss their Morning buns. (Ginger-Lime and Coconut-Pineapple). To die for. We hope to go back for another "beach fix" someday.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing.

We wanted to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary, our kids college graduations, my retirement and treat my mom to a trip of a lifetime. I started looking at houses in Oahu and found Joey's home. I was a little nervous about renting a house and asked so many questions of Joey. She was so kind to me and answered all of my questions about her home. We surprised our family with the trip as a Christmas gift and counted the days until we left for Hawaii. When we arrived, we went shopping at Costco and found the house easily with Joey's directions. The house far exceeded our dreams. It was very clean and inviting. The yard is absolutely beautiful and the beach is four steps away. The yard is extremely private and you cannot see the neighbor on either side. We felt like we were on our own beach in PARADISE! The location of the home on the beach is beyond words. It is absolutely incredible and breathtaking. The pictures of this home and beach are pretty, but to actually see how beautiful it was is hard to describe. I was nervous about not having air conditioning, but once you open all the windows, the ocean breeze comes in and cools down right away. The house has four bedrooms, which were all decorated very nicely. It was amazing because from every bedroom window you can hear the ocean. We enjoyed grilling and eating outside listening to the ocean. We also loved getting up and drinking coffee while watching the waves. I got up one morning at 5:20 and saw the most gorgeous sunrise I have ever seen in my life. The sunsets are equally as beautiful. We never got to see a turtle on the beach, but we did see them swimming in the ocean. Even though the house is located on the North Shore, we drove all over the island to see the sites. We went into the Honolulu area several times and depending on traffic you can be there in about 35 - 45 minutes. We enjoyed visiting several of the beaches. Our kids went on the Shark Cage Adventure and loved it. It is only about 7 minutes from the house. We went to the Polynesian Cultural Center, Pearl Harbor, two hikes, the flea market and Waikiki Beach. However, our favorite thing was to return to the house and enjoy our private beach in the most spectacular location ever. I would recommend this house to anyone who wants to have a vacation of a lifetime. Honestly, this was the only vacation I have ever taken that I cried when I left. Thank you Joey for sharing your home and we hope to come again.Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing.

We had such an amazing trip to the North Shore of Oahu. It all began at the Haleiwa Beach House, we arrived to a very clean and comfortable house. My family and I made a stop at Costco when arriving to Hawaii and was able to cook dinner with no problem when we arrived. The Beach house is about 7 minutes by car to a small town with a local grocery store, and several shrimp trucks!! We were able to travel around the island to other beaches and tourist activities with out a problem. I suggest walking on the beach going west, we encountered several sea turtles. On our final day we had a late check out which Joey was very accommodating we payed a little extra and checked out at five. When you have kids it helps out tremendously! We celebrated my daughters sixth birthday in Hawaii and all she can talk about is celebrating her next birthday there. My only regret is not staying longer!!Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing.

We arrived at the beach house late in the evening, after many hours of travel. We were pleased to find a spacious, clean, and well-equipped home. Because of the late hour, we could hear the roar of the ocean better than we could see the ocean. We were lulled to sleep by the sound of the waves and awoke to confirm that we had indeed picked a perfect place to stay during our brief stay in Oahu (my sister, in fact, was moved to tears at the beauty of our location). It was tough deciding whether to just relax at the beach house (preferably in the hammock) or to venture around the island. Although the house has neighbours, the setting is very private. We loved visiting the sea turtles while they sunned and swam, swimming at Waimea Bay, wandering in the town of Haleiwa...the house is ideally located to many great spots on the island. Joey Ann was very helpful in replying to our questions in a prompt manner. No hesitation in recommending the Waialua beach house!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

Not only is Joey's home the best spot in Haleiwa, but Joey is the best host we have come across. Her home is comfortable, the ocean couldn't be any closer & the waves at night put us all to sleep in minutes. The rooms are great, we enjoyed being on the lania, & shopping is very close by. Lots of places to eat, shop, & be happy. The home is filled with everything you need. Our stay was extended due to hurricane Sandy. Thankfully, Joey had a few extra days for us to stay! She made our situation a memorable one. The beach offered us early walks in the morning, turtles to gaze at, & breath taking views from the livingroom. My family made wonderful memories here. The location is perfect for quiet time. If you want more, drive to Honolulu takes 40 minutes or so. Driving to Turtle Bay resort was easy & scenic. Soap factory was a stop for us. We had a Halloween to remember. Our plans were extended so we got to see all the wild costumes in Honolulu & shop all the high end stores. Trip to the zoo & Teddy's burger across the street made our day. Waikiki beach for a swim & some beverages along the strip was a blast. At the end of each day, we looked forward to coming back to the house & relaxing by the sound of the waves. Joey....we WILL be back! You will be our first call. Thank you for a memorable family reunion w/ my sons. My oldest slept on the hammock one night, he couldn't get over the waves being so close. My husband, 1 year old baby, and I stayed at this beautiful beach front home a week ago. We had the most amazing time and were able to really relax. I was a little worried about the safety of my baby being so close to the ocean, but the grounds and house were perfect for our little one. We loved being able to grill at home every night, which was awesome having a baby with us and awesome for the wallet;-) I appreciated having a washer and dryer on site, again, making everything a little bit easier on us! The pictures are right on point, and everything was very clean and well taken care of. My husband really enjoyed being able to wake up and go surfing in the early AM right from the house. He also had fun snorkeling right off the property (he was even able to see some green sea turtles, as was I from the grass)… If you like to exercise there is an awesome bike/walk trail that we used to run into town every morning… If you are traveling with little ones and need equipment (i.e. Beach toys, pack n play, high chair, etc.) we rented stuff from Paradise Baby Company. We worked with Cara and she was so helpful. They deliver and pick up which is extra awesome! Joey Ann was an absolute pleasure to work with, I could go on and on about how accommodating she was! We will definitely be staying here again! 5 stars for this beautiful Waialua home;-)Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 3/3

Joey was extremely accomodating squeezing us in. Our original plans changed at the last minute and Joey worked to schedule our dates in between original reservations. The problem is: once you step foot on the property - you are instantly suspended into a world of relaxation and laziness. Except for a couple nights out to dinner - WE DID NOTHING! AND, we loved it. Being only 20 feet or so from the ocean, with beautiful scenery to each side and little neighbor noise, we walked on the beach, laid on the hammock, drank wine, ate home cooked meals and grew lazier with everyday. The absolute perfect get-away spot. With 4 bedrooms, perfect for big groups but we were TWO and found the house delightful. Would definitely recommend and, would come back to CHILL whenever possible. Thanks, JoeyRecommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

This house was perfect for our family of 6 -- 2 adults and 6 teenagers! The home is just like it appears in the photos and we would definitely rent this home again. We appreciated the extra snorkling gear, the beach towels and insulated beach bags provided. The kitchen was very well stocked with dishes, pots/pans, etc. The location was perfect for all of day trips out to the various beaches and we even enjoyed a dinner at Jameson's one evening - great little spot with killer sunset views. The owner of the home was a delight to work with and she provided a very nice overview of what was provided at the home. We used the BBQ almost every evening and enjoyed wine and cheese out in the yard at sunset. Our family had a very memorable time, thanks Joey Ann!Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway.
