We recently rented for several weeks while visiting our toddler granddaughter, who lives in the vicinity. This 2BR apartment is spacious, with more room than a comparable Residence Inn 2 BR suite. The living area is separated from the bedrooms and the entire apartment is well appointed. There are new appliances, the bathroom has been remodeled, and the flat screen TV is probably installed by now. There is high speed wireless and Direct TV (satellite) with a multitude of channels. The coffee maker is kept well supplied with fresh beans, or you can take a 3 block walk to the neighborhood non-Starbucks coffee shop. The owners are environmentally conscious, live upstairs with their kids, and are around if needed, but they don't intrude. In fact they are very gracious and hospitable, with a wealth of knowledge of what to do and how to get around in San Francisco. Public transportation is all you really need. For example, Golden Gate Park is is only 15 minutes away by bus, with giant trees, abundant gardens, and walking and jogging paths and roads that lead gently down to the Pacific Ocean on the western end. You can also rent bikes at commercial establishments on the eastern end of the park. The apartment's location is an easy walk to the BART subway and Muni busses and trolleys. There is a delightful city park a block away with a playground and swings for kids, tennis courts for adults, ball fields, and a hiking trailhead adjacent. We rented a car for a few days and found parking to be readily available nearby, although you have to be careful about the 4-hour daytime parking limit on many streets. Nights and weekend have unlimited parking hours. I really had to think to come up with a drawback, and if there is one it's that, like most residential neighborhoods in SF, this is an older building and you can occasionally hear people walking upstairs. This is truly a San Francisco gem and we can't wait to get back to visit our granddaughter again. We already know where we want to stay.
Recommended for:Girls getaway, age 55+, tourists without a car, sightseeing, families with young children.

My wife and I were delighted to have found David and Shawn's GREAT apartment. The pictures are 100% accurate and after our second stay (2008 and 2009)I have to say its even gotten better. David goes out of his way to accommodate his guests. We are serious students of Iyengar Yoga and attend week long workshops every year. It is the perfect place to relax after a hard day of practice. ( I love the large bath to sooth away the aches. The apartment is VERY clean (bright and well appointed) and has over a dozen terrific restaurants, cafes, and markets within a 6 minute walk. David has a garage available but we find BART and the Muni buses cheap and easy. When we arrive I stock up the apartments refrigerator with my favorite food and drink from the Market (fresh fruit, wine, amazing bread etc) David has a collection of DVD movies, a full PC and printer in addition to wi-fi. We also enjoy the fact that we can wash and dry our clothes ( you have to see his new hi-tech machines). While I do not wish to publish my personal number, I would be happy to talk to you if you wish ( David can forward you my email address or phone), sincerely peter & terese from tucson.

I had the time of my life in San Francisco and staying in this wonderful location played a huge role. I was so happy to have accomadation that was so easy to get to from the airport. We were not renting a car so this was very important to us.We used the BART to get to and from the airport and to any other site we wanted to see in San Francisco on a daily basis.Glen Park village was a lovely place and full of life, there were many stores that were very useful to us. I cannot say enough for David and his family, such kind people. They were so good to us while we were there and provided a beautiful and comfortable place for us to call home for our two weeks there. They were very helpful and never intrusive. Our rooms were spotless and our bathroom was immaculate which I was so pleased with. A very clean kitchen, Internet access, a great living area. When there were nights we didnt want to go far to eat out, Glen Park Village provided Restaurants, Take-aways and stores to everyones taste.Even though we were tourists,at the end of each day it was nice to go home to a local SF area where you could get a real taste of life there. There were no complications when getting around San Francisco due to how close we were to the BART, also for people who may not be used to underground rail like ourselves it was clear and easy to navigate our way around the City. I will certainly be staying here again.
