- Minimum stay:N/A

Nestled in the heart of Central Austin, our modern guest house will provide the perfect location for all of your Austin activities. This luxurious retreat was completely remodeled with love and care with 1 bedroom, 1 bath, 1 living with full kitchen, a washer & dryer and a private wooded backyard and patio.
Located just off Lamar, you are about a mile from Austin's best grocery stores (Whole Foods and Central Market), walking distance to the University of Texas and a 5 minute drive to downtown. You will be across the street from Austin's legendary Caswell Tennis Courts and across the street from Pease Park where you will find the Shoal Creek hike and bike trail leading to Town Lake as well as a frisbee golf course.
A cab to the heart of downtown is about $7 and bus stops are nearby. You will feel safe and comfortable perched on a hillside hidden behind an Austin landmark. The front house was an elementary school for over 40 years (the headmaster actually lived in the guest house)!

We just finished two weeks at Big House Pink - this was our second stay, which tells you how much we enjoy staying here. Everything you could need is close by, and with Austin's traffic, this is so much appreciated. The UT campus is 5 min (or walking distance), across the street is a very nice hike and bike trail as well as Tennis Courts, Whole Foods and Central Market (the best you could ask for) just a few miles away, Austin Java (wonderful) is walking distance, downtown with so many great restaurants very close - Bess Bistro, Walton's, P. Terry's - EVERYTHING!!! The place itself has everything you could need or want. The privacy with the bamboo out the back patio is so very soothing. Quiet. Nice views. Don't pass this up!!! The owners are very accommodating and easy to contact if needed. We love this place... perfect in every way!!Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway, adventure seekers.

This little place looks just like the picture. It's centrally located and when the weather is nice, one could walk just about anywhere. Downtown is about a mile away and the drag is closer. The space is confortable and homey. The only thing I would consider is there is a hike up to the house. I enjoyed it! Thanks, SoniaRecommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, girls getaway, tourists without a car, adventure seekers.

We are just finishing our 2 weeks in this unit. Our family stayed in another unit located here. We all were very happy with these two units. This unit is like being in a Boutique Hotel, but better - it is private and has a beautiful view out all the many windows. It was clean and well-maintained. The location was perfect - Whole Foods in one direction - Central Market in the other - coffee houses (Austin Java), wonderful restaurants (Bess Bistro, Waltons, Kerbey Lane Cafe), shopping, parks, hike & bike trail - everything you could need or want. The owners were very nice to work with and we were able to contact them with any need. We are already planning our next visit.Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway, tourists without a car.

This was our first time utilizing HomeAway.com, and I must say what a fabulous experience it was, especially with these home-owners. They have a beautiful rental, which had absolutely everything we needed (and provided so much more than I expected). My husband and I have enjoyed timesharing for years, but this is MUCH MUCH better...we may not do the timesharing again because of this great experience. It was all 5 star...including the towels and kitchen supplies provided. The location of the rental was terrific as well, easy to see all the sites of the city and we felt like we were tucked just slightly in the woods with lots of green surrounding us (which was terrific as well - very quiet). Easily could walk to get coffee and other restaurants without needing to drive. We will definitely stay here again :)Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway, tourists without a car, adventure seekers.

The owners of this property provided all the creature comforts that truly exceeded our expectations. Absolutely spotlessly clean and very well decorated with impressive yet unobtrusive art installations. Minimalistic furnishings yet completely functional. Kitchen - devine and complimented by every utensil possible - including wok, steamer, drip coffee etc etc. If you weren't in town to slave in a kitchen, the owners have prepared an array of menus from a selection of their fav and local dining spots. This came in very handy for us out-of-towners. Suggestions taken - Shady Grove (for Thai salad/Chicken fried steak) and Thai Passion. Our visit was primarily to attend the Austin City Limits music festival, and we plan on requesting this property for future festivals as it is well located for the 338 Metro bus - $1 each way to/from ACL with a small walk to 24th/Lamar and then down Barton Springs Rd to Zilker Park at the drop off point. Further evidence of the owners attention to detail is the unique keyless entry. Simply remember a unique code for your entire stay and you won't need to worry about carrying keys. Wireless internet - check, air conditioning - check (required in Texas), all amenities - check, great weather - check, check, check!!! I hope your stay at this location offers you the same amazing experience to enjoy what Austin has to offer in a tranquil urban environment. Definite ***** (five stars)!!Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, tourists without a car, adventure seekers.

This little hideaway was such an exciting find! Despite having read the (thorough and detailed) listing and having seen the photos, we weren’t really prepared for the coziness of the place. With the dappled green light coming through the bamboo in the back and the live oaks in the front, there was a romantic bungalow feel to the place that doesn’t fully come across in the clean, modern look of the photos. The kitchen was ideal for cooking when we wanted to stay in, and the comfy living space and great entertainment center created a haven where we could recharge the mental batteries between family visits and running around town to a bunch of old favorite spots. (If you’re lucky, you’ll have one nice thunderstorm—it’s particularly fun with the sound of the rain in the bamboo…). The mechanics of getting in and out were seamless due to the ultra-professional communications from the owners, who were able to balance a professional tone with welcoming personal touches (such as local menus, café listings, and grocery store tips in the guest book). There were lots of other thoughtful details, too: frosty mugs in the freezer, board games and travel guides on the shelves, a WiFi connection, high-quality towels and sheets, etc. And of course the location was perfect for us, near all the fun things and yet with a feeling of being tucked away from noise and bustle. You can be sure I will be telling everyone I know who travels to Austin about our stay; staying here turned this trip into my favorite visit home in years.Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway.

This rental was great- super nice accomodations with plenty of room to spend a few days- WAY better than a hotel. It is right across from a large, beautiful park and it is on 2 convenient bus lines. The bed is super comfortable and the owners made every effort to make everything needed in a house accesible and easy to find.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway.

My wife and I stayed here for a week of relaxation. No site seeing this time. This was a great place for just that. It was great for just sitting and watching movies or sleeping late. We only went out to eat once because of the great kitchen and close grocery shopping. The only downer was the walk, but we were expecting that so I'm not trying to complain. It would be even better if there were a quicker way to get up to it! Great neighborhood close to the freeway and downtown but nice and quiet. Would stay here again.Recommended for: Romantic getaway.
