Welcome to Landers Cottage, a small 1890’s single family house nestled on a beautiful side street in one of the city’s oldest neighborhoods. Perfect for visitors looking for traditional San Francisco charm as well as a desire for privacy.

The cottage offers a cheerful living space (up one flight of stairs) and a private entrance. It underwent major restoration to restore it to an 1890's period style but with all the modern touches. While only 575 square feet, it wisely uses every inch to make it feel comfortable and roomy.

Non smoking house but allowed on the rear porch and in the shared courtyard garden. Your hosts live next door and are happy to help with sightseeing arrangements or any questions about seeing the city.

Best location for seeing San Francisco without a car (street parking only),it is in the geographic center of the city, a half block from the oldest building in town, Mission Dolores Church. Located three blocks from 16th and Mission BART station which serves both San Francisco and Oakland Airports.

Public transportation nearby connects you to the entire city by buses, rail system, subway and F Market Historic Trolley which travels to Civic Center, Powell Street, Embarcadero and Fisherman's Wharf. Museums, theaters, parks and most other attractions are within a short bus ride as are the Haight-Ashbury and Noe Valley neighborhoods.

Within walking distance are the Castro district and the hip Mission/ Valencia corridor, both known for their shopping, restaurants and night life. World class shopping and dining including such restaurants as Limon, Delfinia, Tartaine, 2223 Market, as well as local favorites Chow, Home and Catch.

Ethnic diversity also abounds with cuisines such as Chinese, Japanese ,VietNamese, Thai, Mexican, Indian, Italian, 24 Hour Diner- all within 3 blocks. Major grocery store, organic markets and fruit stands within blocks.

  • I chose this place because it was near my sister. It's great for any visitor because it is near public transportation and within walking distance to a grocery store, shops and restaurants. I'm a knitter and there is a nice yarn shop nearby. It was very comfortable and welcoming with fresh fruit, coffee, tea, well stocked kitchen, toiletries and some dvd's to enjoy. I'll definitely be back.

  • Landers Cottage was the perfect choice for our honeymoon. It felt like home right from the very first moment. Thanks to Lynn and Tim, you will find everything you need and much more! From there, you have access to a lot of Muni lines, Safeway is within walking distance as well as many good restaurants. The neighborhood is really quiet and standing in the beautiful backyard, you wouldn`t think that you are in such a big city. There is no better choice than Landers Cottage for your stay in SF.

  • We had a great stay here for a week, celebrating our 40th anniversary. Landers Cottage is very comfortable and the neighborhood was a delightful surprise with lots of great restaurants and fun shops within easy walking distance, and perfect access to public transportation to anywhere in the city.

  • Landers Cottage is a gem. Stayed almost a week and loved it. Very comfortable & convenient. Wonderful neighborhood-between the Castro & Mission. Near Mission Dolores & Dolores Park. Easy access to public transportation 2 blocks away. So many great places to eat all within blocks. Nice quiet backyard/courtyard area for sitting in the morning/afternoon sun. Just loved it!!

  • I recently stayed in Landers Cottage for the second time. I chose it the first time, because it is close to where my son lives in the Mission, but because of its proximity to public transportation I would recommend it for anyone. We've rented many vacation apartments, and this is one of the best. The owner has made it so welcoming. He provides delicious coffee, fresh fruit, bedside chocolates, and a number of conveient toiletries. The cottage is beautifully decorated wth period details -- an ingenious use of its 575 sq.ft. So much beter than a hotel!

  • My husband and I stayed for the week between Christmas and New Years. Landers Cottage is a beautiful, immaculate, well-situated, charming place for two adults to completely relax and enjoy the city! Don't miss a peek into the church across the street, the chocolate shop on 16th (you'll find samples in the cottage by the bed), cruising the Castro (even two middleaged straight people feel welcome) and walking the hills. I highly recommend this lovely place. We were visiting family and were so glad to have our own quiet retreat!

  • We came to San Francisco to celebrate Thanksgiving with our daughter and was fortunate to find Lannder Cottage. Not only was it a warm and comfortable place to stay, it was also less than a block from our daughters apartment. It was quite evident that Lynn and Tim put alot of love and thought into the restoration of the property.Each detail of the cozy cottage was executed to perfection. Every need of the traveler was carefully thought of and generously supplied. The beautiful courtyard was a welcome relaxing repreave from a bustling city. New to the city, and without a car we were grateful for the close proximity to public transportation, restaurants, shopping, and the Safeway grocery store. A perfect location, wonderful hosts, and a place that was truly a home away from home, we only wish we could have stayed longer, We will be back! Carla and Tom
