Just returned from my stay at Landers Cottage. Location is superb for getting around the city. Since I have problems walking downhill I was looking for a fairly flat neighborhood in the city. I found myself able to walk around a lot from this location and access public transportation easily. Lynn and Tim have done over the place in period with the era cottage was built and the stained glass is especially lovely. I really appreciated the well provisioned kitchen. Not only do the hosts leave healthy snacks but there are plenty of utensils, cookware and dishes for cooking a meal. I was able to entertain family and friends who live in the city for breakfasts and some dinners in the cottage. The cottage is quiet even for one accustomed to living in very quiet area. Some street traffic from 16th is heard in early evening, but the cottage fronts a side street off 16th and is quiet and comfortable for sleeping. Lynn and Tim are very hospitable hosts and will keep you entertained with stories of the neighborhood's history. Courtyard garden is lovely for sitting and enjoying a little warm sun after the summer fog rolls out. All in all an excellent place for my needs. Thank you Lynn and Tim and continued success!

The Landers Cottage is really a perfect place to stay in SF. It's charming, thoughtfully laid out and convenient to public transportant and local ammenities. The lovely touches such as the stained glass, nice kitchen and bathroom, decorations make it very comfortable. There are great restaurants in the neighborhood. Speaking of the neighborhood, it is safe and quiet...away from the noise of downtown, but it is two blocks away from the subway and several major bus lines run right by the cottage, so you can get downtown in 20 minutes very easily. The property listing doesn't really do justice in describing how nice the cottage is, and the owners were very helpful and attentive. You won't regret staying here.

We were in San Francisco, May 2011, for our daughter's wedding. We could not have found better accommodation than Landers Cottage. It more than met our expectations! It is very well equipped and very comfortable. The location is wonderful ... close to grocery stores (Bi-rite and Safe Way in particular), public transportation and many, many wonderful restaurants. The landlord is very accommodating and the website is very accurate. We have no doubts that we will stay again in Landers Cottage when visiting San Francisco in the future!

"Landers" is so sweet and comfortable. Great location for exploring the city, and awesome food minutes away! Thanks, Lynn, for everything. Check out the yoga studio, Laughing Lotus, right down the block, only 20 dollars for a week of unlimited yoga for newcomers! And don't forget the hot tub! One of our highlights every night!

If you are looking for the ideal location to spend your stay in San Francisco - the search has ended. Lander's Cottage provides outstanding accommodations in a perfect setting that exceeded our greatest expectations. Lynn and Tim are terrific hosts, genuinely concerned that your stay is everything you were hoping for. We plan to return to San Francisco on a regular basis and the anxiety that comes with trying to find accommodations is no longer an issue. It is with total confidence that my wife and I highly recommend Lander's Cottage - you will not be disappointed.

Landers Cottage is just as described. It is very clean and tidy and nicely appointed with several thoughtful extra touches like a new toothbrush and a few kitchen staples that make simple cooking easier. Lynn and Tim are excellent and helpful hosts, the garden is lovely, the location very convenient to bus and MUNI lines as well as lots of delicious eateries in walking distance.

As you can see from the photos the appartment is GORGEOUS. Beautifully decorated and very clean and good cooking facilities. Also thoughtful inclusion of San Fran related DVD's to curl up and watch. Steps lead down to a lovely courtyard garden full of architectural antiques and great planting. All very tasteful. Hosts exceptionally helpful; went out of their way to write lists of good stuff for us to do in SF; suggesting itineries directly related to our interests (murals and junk shops!) Also very patient with our four year old's incessant questioning and chit chat. Easy walk to lots of cool areas. Great couple and great appartment.

We have been renting apartments for vacations in SF for over 5 years. Without a doubt, Landers Cottage is the best . From the welcome greetings from Lynn and Tim; the ambience of the well-appointed apart-ment; the magnificent lush garden (with Meyer lemon trees); to being so close to wonderful restaurants and transportation all over most of the city, Landers hits the spot. We would recommend it to any one we know looking for an ideal retreat. Guy and Lyn

We found Landers Cottage to be an excellent base from which to explore San Francisco. Its location is superb - just minutes' walk from several forms of transport to connect us with the various districts of San Fran that we wanted to explore. There are lots of reasonably priced eateries and a supermarket within easy reach. The Cottage, although not large, makes excellent use of its space. We felt very relaxed there during our six day stay. It is stylishly and comfortably furnished by someone who has an eye for detail. The kitchen was well equipped and we really appreciated the coffee, fruit and lots of other bits and pieces left for us. One little gem Landers Cottage offers is access to a delightful, very San Fran courtyard - a place to sit amongst greenery and orchids and enjoy a cuppa at the end of a day of exploring. Our host, Lynn, welcomed us warmly and his suggestions enriched our our stay in the city. We thank him for his hospitality and allowing us to share his lovely cottage - it was a real home away from home.

What can I say except Lynn and Tim have a wonderful place and are exceptional hosts. They have thought of every detail to make the cottage a home away from home. Not only is it a great location to explore from, but the cottage is so well outfitted that we were able to entertain friends for drinks and dinner one evening. We can't wait to come back.

We stayed at Landers Cottage 2 weeks ago and it was just what we wanted. We chose this location based on its proximity to the Castro -- it really is nice and close. Well, it exceeded our expectations. First of all, Lynn is so nice and he helped with whatever we needed without being menacing. There were lots of little extras that made the stay awesome -- umbrellas at the door, cozy robes in the closet, chocolates by the bed, lots of guidebook and tourist info. The place was clean, comfy and had all the comforts of home - including delicious coffee from the Castro Cheesery, I think I brewed most of it... Sorry. The shared courtyard was cute, we sat out and ate our lunch one day, made you feel like you were in a different place entirely. Problem was, we didn't want to leave. We were there 3 days, but we could have stayed all week. Public transport and good places to eat and drink are right there. If you are hemming about staying here, just book it! You'll love it.

I chose this place because it was near my sister. It's great for any visitor because it is near public transportation and within walking distance to a grocery store, shops and restaurants. I'm a knitter and there is a nice yarn shop nearby. It was very comfortable and welcoming with fresh fruit, coffee, tea, well stocked kitchen, toiletries and some dvd's to enjoy. I'll definitely be back.

If you book into a SF hotel near Union Square its easy to miss the heart of this amazing city. Landers Cottage is the Mission District, 200 metres from the oldest building in the city, surrounded by the real San Francisco. It's a short walk to the Castro, Market street or the restaurants of Valencia St (Don't miss Peurto Allegre, the best Mexican food in town). Landers Cottage is cute and comfortable, filled with everything you'll need, not that you'll be eating from home much. Lynn and Tim were both warm and welcoming. The back courtyard feels like you are in an Armistead Maupin novel. The bed was comfortable, the water pressure was great and the central heating meant no cold San Francisco nights. Our local friends couldn't believe we could find such a perfect place to stay. We'll certainly be back next time we're in town.

An absolutely gorgeous apartment. It had everything we needed and more. A beautifully finished living space, nice bathroom, perfect little kitchen and extremely comfortable bedroom - we slept like babies. The friendly hosts went beyond the call of duty in preparing the place and never bothered us. The location is superb, right in the mission/castro which cut down on public transport schlepping. Cannot recommend it enough.

Landers Cottage was the perfect choice for our honeymoon. It felt like home right from the very first moment. Thanks to Lynn and Tim, you will find everything you need and much more! From there, you have access to a lot of Muni lines, Safeway is within walking distance as well as many good restaurants. The neighborhood is really quiet and standing in the beautiful backyard, you wouldn`t think that you are in such a big city. There is no better choice than Landers Cottage for your stay in SF.

Ideal, beautiful place for a couple to stay to explore the Castro and San Francisco in general. Cottage is excellently equipped, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Hosts couldn't be more helpful and accommodating. Location great for public transport downtown or around the city with a supermarket minutes up the road and a host of shops and restaurants on the doorstep. Would wholeheartedly recommend Landers Cottage to our friends and anyone else.

We wanted to stay somewhere a bit special for our honeymoon and Landers Cottage was everything we hoped for. It's beautifully decorated, the hosts were really welcoming and helpful and although the cottage itself is on a quiet sidestreet, it's a quick walk to livelier areas (the Castro, Valencia St) with lots of good restaurants and bars. It's a shortish ride on the streetcar or Muni to the centre of town. I'd definitely recommend this place to anyone.

Do it! Rent this place! It's perfect, fantastic, lovely, quiet, clean, comfy, spacious and in the perfect location right between the Mission and the Castro. Close to BART. Close to great food. Fabulous owners. Everything you could ask for and more. Never rent a hotel room in SF ever again! Very easy to get to from SFO on BART. No need to rent a car. Wonderful kitchen. Lovely sitting room. Very comfy bed. Quiet street. Absolutely perfect. One of the best places I have every stayed. I would recommend this to anyone traveling to SF. My best friend who lives in SF will be putting up her guests at Landers when they visit her.

My partner and I loved staying at Landers Cottage, it was beautiful, comfortable, quiet and had everything we needed. Our hosts could not have been more accommodating and lent us books on the history of San Francisco (we are both architects) as well as the histories of the gay movement in San Francisco. Public transportation, grocery stores, restaurants and nightlife are all very close by and we had a wonderful day relaxing at Delores Park, also very close. We couldn't have been more pleased.

I recently stayed in Landers Cottage for the second time. I chose it the first time, because it is close to where my son lives in the Mission, but because of its proximity to public transportation I would recommend it for anyone. We've rented many vacation apartments, and this is one of the best. The owner has made it so welcoming. He provides delicious coffee, fresh fruit, bedside chocolates, and a number of conveient toiletries. The cottage is beautifully decorated wth period details -- an ingenious use of its 575 sq.ft. So much beter than a hotel!

I had the pleasure of staying at Landers Cottage for 10 days and couldn’t have been happier. The owners have taken great care in restoring the cottage and in making sure it has all the comforts of home. It has a private entrance, beautiful wood floors and that “oh so San Francisco” vintage charm. The neighborhood is great too, very convenient to The Castro, plenty of restaurants, a supermarket and it’s convenient to the subway / Muni. My only regret was having to leave! I’ll definitely stay at Landers Cottage again!

My husband and I stayed for the week between Christmas and New Years. Landers Cottage is a beautiful, immaculate, well-situated, charming place for two adults to completely relax and enjoy the city! Don't miss a peek into the church across the street, the chocolate shop on 16th (you'll find samples in the cottage by the bed), cruising the Castro (even two middleaged straight people feel welcome) and walking the hills. I highly recommend this lovely place. We were visiting family and were so glad to have our own quiet retreat!

We came to San Francisco to celebrate Thanksgiving with our daughter and was fortunate to find Lannder Cottage. Not only was it a warm and comfortable place to stay, it was also less than a block from our daughters apartment. It was quite evident that Lynn and Tim put alot of love and thought into the restoration of the property. Each detail of the cozy cottage was executed to perfection. Every need of the traveler was carefully thought of and generously supplied. The beautiful courtyard was a welcome relaxing repreave from a bustling city. New to the city, and without a car we were grateful for the close proximity to public transportation, restaurants, shopping, and the Safeway grocery store. A perfect location, wonderful hosts, and a place that was truly a home away from home, we only wish we could have stayed longer, We will be back! Carla and Tom

My stay at Landers Cottage couldn’t have been better. The location was central to all the places I wanted to spend time. Hosts were very friendly and always willing to help with ideas or just chat with in the amazing back yard garden. As a person who lives in and loves historic homes, the owners have spared nothing in the restoration of this home. Staying in the cottage had the qualities of being at home but the benefits of being in San Francisco which made this trip one of my favorites. I’ll definitely be back, just hope there is availability because this was probably the best deal I’ve found on VRBO!
