Lighthouse Retreat has been a vacation home for family and friends for years and we now want to share it with you. This architecturally significant home was designed by Thatcher & Thompson and was featured in “Better Homes & Gardens” for its passive solar energy system.
It is a 2000 sq ft luxury home with electronically controlled gated driveway, creating a private courtyard/Garden area for outdoor living. Kitchen and all three bathrooms have been recently remodeled using high end luxury finishes and fixtures. It is owned by the original owner.

Spacious living / dining area with large sectional leather sofa and wood burning fireplace. 42” Plasma TV, Cable, DVD, high speed wireless internet. Beautiful glass dining table expands to seat 10 people.
Gourmet kitchen features Viking range, Jenn-Air French door refrigerator, double drawer dishwashers, microwave, electric coffee maker, all other electric appliances including cuisinart.
“Zen” bathroom with spacious walk in shower.
Den / Office with desk and two leather recliners.

This is a gorgeous house. The woodwork is lovely, the bathrooms are extraordinary, the kitchen is the best-equipped of any that we rented. The house has 4 bedrooms. The master bedroom is spacious and airy. The only downside is that the passive solar heating system means that it is slightly open on one wall to the space downstairs (sort of like a loft -- but there is no visual communion) so there is not full privacy in terms of noise. The master bath -- like all the baths -- is lovely. The second in-house bedroom is very pleasant (and fully private); the third is a bit small but is fine for children. The fourth bedroom is in a guesthouse about 20 feet from the main house (very private). It has an excellent mattress, but is not as airy as the in-house rooms, and its bathroom is in the main house. Still, it is a nice space. The kitchen is exceptionally nice and well-equipped. The TV is very impressive but a bit complicated to use. Internet is good and parking is easy. The location is very nice. It's in a residential neighborhood, easy walking distance from the cliffs and about a mile from town. We went several days without getting into our cars. The house is very appropriately priced.Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, age 55+, families with teenagers.

Besides being a beautiful home, it is comfortable and just a pleasure to be there. Everything is so convenient. I love and I will go back!!.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

PERFECT! Seven women on their annual weekend away had a wonderful time at the “Lighthouse Executive Retreat”. Just minuets from the beautiful beach and a short drive from “Natural Bridges State Beach “where we witnessed the yearly migration of monarch butterflies.Thank you Jaleen your home is beautiful! About the owner: We are Dick and Gail. We use this home as our family vacation home. Dick lived there in the late 70's. We completely renovated the 3 bathrooms and the kitchen and bar in 2006. We love this home as do our children and grandchildren.
Why the Owner Chose Santa Cruz:
Dick bought in this location in 1977 because he wanted to live near the ocean and this was such a beautiful home. Now, so many years later, our grandchildren love the boardwalk and the beach!!
